Positive Review

"A great value, a great SUV"

Everything works as advertised. A pleasure everytime I get behind the wheel. Lots of favorable comments from people just passing by. Only drawback is on the drivers side where the speacker is located the mesh rubs the knee cap when wearing shorts. Other than that small distraction I am 100% satisfied..

Critical Review

"UGGGH!"

Lots of electronic problems with this car. Speakers/tweeters whistle, the ignition switch is sporadic and leaves me stranded more times than I care to explain, the stereo lights fade in and out, and the engine has had multiple valve issues as well as alternator issues.

2011 Hyundai Veracruz

Bought the auto new in Everett, Wa. At 30K miles the transmission was replaced. I don't consider this a unique problem as my 1998 Chrysler went thru the same at near the same mileage. Since, following all recall notices, the rocker arm leak resulting in alternator problems, the wiper arm, and one or two others, I have no concerns. Historically, factory tires replaced at 70K, again at 125K. front and rear brakes replaced at 80K. Front brakes replaced again at 104k before relocating to Texas. At 132K, the front end - ball joints, tie rods ends (inner and outer), struts (and rear shocks), and cv axels were changed. Most oil changes completed with specified mileage limits (plus or minus 10%). Two sets of floor mats replaced. The infotainment center was replaced with a commercial Pioneer system. Currently, 134K miles, combined highway and city driving is 20 mpg. I have done extremely well on the Colorado Wyoming Higher 25 where the speed limit reaches 80 mph to reach 24 mpg.

Low maintenace vehicle.
Pros

Comfy 3 row seating and sporty.

Cons

Older styling

I have owned this bad boy for 7 years and put 125k miles on it. Replaced front brakes twice and rear once. Tires replaced twice and have maintained it per owners manual requirements. Uses 1/4 of a quart of oil now between 4k mile oil changes. 3.8 growls when you step on it and suspension is still tight on colorados mountain roads. I do need to replace right front boot/axial. Hyundai can hold their head high with what I have experienced with this quality awd low mainenance suv.

Well planned interior
Cons

Leather in driver seat did not wear well.

I love this car. It’s a 2007 and just the right size. 3rd seats fold down. 2nd row folds forward making space for large items. Has sunroof and 6 CD player with Bose sound. Comfy heated leather seats with power adjustments for driver side. Good interior lighting front, mid and back. Large rear window with wiper provides good overall viewing. Smooth steering and quiet ride makes I a pleasure to drive. After more than 250,000 miles and I still like to drive it.

Nice ride.
Pros

Drives very smooth.

Cons

Gas hog and slightly big.

Driving this big suv is great. The only thing is it's got a big monstrous gas tank. The gas mileage is unreal. It averages 18 to 21 a gallon. Other than that it's just a reliable vehicle. The seats are on the uncomfortable side.

Engine and Drive Train Only Reliable Systems
Pros

No engine or transmission problems in 108000 mi.

Cons

Cheap materials, bad engineering.

All brake rotors warped within 600 miles after delivery, broken console lid latch, three broken interior door handles, two valve cover gasket/alternator fire recalls (still waiting on parts), paint de-laminated above windshield, clear coat peeling off side-view mirrors, OEM tires horrible, unsafe torque-steering response, dash plastic cracked, body control module failed disabling remote driver door lock and remote/manual rear hatch release, sway bar bushings and suspension stop bumpers disintegrated, headlight covers glazed, repeated failure of right high beam lamp, air conditioning system undersized. Poor dealer response to these issues.

Pros

big suv 3 rows comfortable

Cons

engine design death trap

I have owned this car since 2007 brand new. Because of the engine design oil leaking in the alternator I have been through 5 batteries and 5 alternators. I have lost all power to the car while driving 2 times. Car is a death trap.
