The Hyundai Venue is an affordable small SUV with the lowest ownership costs and the best warranty in its class. Pricing starts at $21,295.
There’s a lot to like about the Hyundai Venue. The smallest and most affordable SUV in the Hyundai lineup offers a class-leading warranty, and it’s earned our Lowest 5-Year Cost to Own award. All in all, the Venue is a nice little SUV with modern tech features and good fuel economy at a price point that a wide range of drivers can afford. The Venue competes on the more affordable end of the subcompact SUV class against the likes of the Kia Soul, Chevy Trax, and Nissan Kicks.
The Hyundai Venue gets a few minor changes for 2024. The SEL and Limited trims now have dual USB charging ports, and push-button start is now standard on SEL. Also, a 6-speaker audio system is now standard on every trim instead of just the top two.
The 2024 Hyundai Venue has a starting sticker price of $21,295, with the range-topping Venue Limited kicking off at $24,545. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,121 to $1,522 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

Before buying a Venue, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Hyundai Venue resale value is about average for the segment.
The Hyundai Venue is powered by a 121-horsepower 4-cylinder engine matched with a CVT automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It motivates the Venue with adequate acceleration and is a good match for city driving. Getting up to highway speed requires a little patience in our experience, but once it does hit highway speed, the drive is comfortable for a vehicle of this size and price, without too much wind noise.
The performance of the Venue is similar to other small SUVs in this price range, like the Nissan Kicks and Chevy Trax. Some SUVs in this class are available with a punchier turbo engine at a higher price point, like the Mazda CX-30 and Hyundai’s own Kona.
One of the strong suits of the Venue is its maneuverability. We found it easy to drive around town and navigate in and out of tight parking spots. Its small footprint and short overhangs make it easy to discern where the car’s four corners are.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of subcompact SUVs, including the Hyundai Venue.
The Hyundai Venue’s sole powertrain option gets a combined fuel economy rating of 31 mpg. That’s pretty good for an SUV this size, but the Nissan Kicks is a slightly more efficient option returning 33 mpg.
We found the interior quality of the Venue to be commensurate with its price tag. We couldn’t help but notice some hard plastics here and there, but it makes sense considering the budget-friendly pricing. That said, the seats are comfortable and the controls are user-friendly. There are a few features we’re surprised aren’t available in the Venue, like dual-zone climate control and a power driver’s seat.
We found the Venue’s rear seats pretty roomy considering its size. Headroom is generous thanks to the boxy shape, and it has 34.3 inches of rear legroom. That’s about average for this class. The Venue has more rear legroom than the Toyota Corolla Cross and Nissan Kicks but less than the Honda HR-V and Chevy Trailblazer.
As for cargo room, there is 18.7 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, but that increases to 31.9 cubic feet with the back seats folded down. Most subcompact SUVs have more cargo room, but the Venue is also one of the smallest vehicles in its class.
Stand-out styling is one of the strengths of the Hyundai Venue. Its boxy profile turns heads and is available in fun paint colors like Denim and Green Apple. We’re especially fond of the available 2-tone roof available on the Limited trim, adding to the Venue’s personality.
Hyundai SmartSense
An impressive list of standard driver assistance features includes automatic emergency braking, driver attention warning, lane-keep assist, rear occupant alert, and automatic high beams. Additional available features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and cyclist detection.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
These handy smartphone connectivity features come standard in the Hyundai Venue. They allow you to bring your maps, music, and more from your phone to the screen in your car. These features work wirelessly on the SE and SEL trims.
Low ownership costs
The Hyundai Venue is our reigning champ for the Lowest 5-Year Cost to Own award for a subcompact SUV, based on factors like purchase price, depreciation, insurance, maintenance costs, and fuel costs.
Limited trim
The top Limited trim brings some nice features to the Venue while keeping the price affordable. It has LED headlights, an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, heated front seats, and an available 2-tone roof.
Snow mode
Standard in the SEL and Limited trims, this program adjusts the traction control system to ensure the right wheels get the right amount of torque in slippery conditions.
Rear USB ports
An appealing new feature for 2024 is dual rear USB ports on the SEL and Limited trims. This is a handy feature for back-seat passengers who need to keep their devices topped off.
The Hyundai Venue is powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Unlike most of its rivals, all-wheel drive isn’t available in the Venue.
The Hyundai Venue is tied with its Kia kin for the best warranty in its class. It’s backed by a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Additionally, it has a 3-year/36,000-mile maintenance plan for routine services.
The Hyundai Venue earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a 4-star overall safety rating from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, driver attention warning, and lane-keep assist.
The 2024 Hyundai Venue is in the top 11-25% for Cost to Own among all Subcompact SUV/Crossovers.
