Positive Review
This car drives smooth when compared to Honda cars and mileage per gallon is above 40 with city/hwy mixed driving, will update my review after driving few more thousand miles
Critical Review
I purchased this car in October 2017 and as of early March 2018, I have put about 3,200 miles on the vehicle. I purchased the car to be my daily commuter, but still large enough to carry the family around (2 kids and spouse) when we didnt want to take out our family SUV. I loved this car for the first three months I owned it. The fuel economy is great - I am getting about 42 mpg combined driving 80% highway in a mountainous location. The car is very comfortable and fits my family of 4 comfortably. The trunk fits our double stroller, which was a much for my new car. The infotainment center is intuitive and easy to use. The climate control panel is also simple and easy to use. Over the six months that I have owned the car, it has had to be returned to the shop 4 times. The first time was the day after I bought car and all four tires went flat and the dealer didnt remove some of the wrapping tape that was around the car when it shipped. Then in January, three months after purchase, it was very cold and I loaded up my two kids and the car wouldnt start. I got the car jumped and drove it around for about 30 minutes. Once I turned the off when I got home the car once again bricked. I had to get the car towed to the dealership and they told me it was an issue with the battery. So they replaced the battery and things worked well for a while. In February, I was contacted about a factory recall. The dealership told me that it would take less than 1 hour to complete, so I took a long lunch break. The repair ended up taking 4 hours and I was forced to take leave for my job due to their miscommunication. The inhibitor switch was replaced, but to this day I have not been able to track down the recall on this part of the car. In late February I was driving home around 10pm and all of the lights on the car - the highlights, dome lights, dash lights started flashing and strobing very intensely. The flashing was so intense the car is pretty much unable to be driven at night. I took the car to the dealership, which was an ordeal in itself, and they told me that the hybrid drive on the vehicle had gone out. It was explained to me that this piece acts like the alternator in a hybrid, but again I cant find any information online about this part. They are still waiting for the part to be delivered, but it looks like the car will be in the shop for at least 1 week. While I hope this resolves the problem, I have low expectations. I have contacted Hyundai USA HQ, but the case manager has not reached out to me yet. I am hoping they offer to buy the car back, especially since the value of the car will be diminished after this repair. I need a reliable vehicle and I purchased this car due to the supposed reliability of Hyundais. I am very disappointed.

Nice interior, great gas mileage, nice features
Engine issues, recalls, terrible service at dealership and with corporate
Things I love about this car: I bought the limited edition, so the interior of the car is really nice. It has cream leather seating and wooden looking trim on the doors. The fuel economy is great. I average 40 miles per gallon on the highway and about 33 miles per gallon City driving. I love all the features the car has like smart cruise control, heated seats, moonroof, and the ability to save two drivers seat positions. However, mechanically this car has a lot of issues. I have already had two engine replacements due to the connected rod bearing failure recall. Both engine Replacements were thankfully covered under warranty, but it's kind of ridiculous that in 100,000 miles I had two engines replaced. The first time that my engine was replaced was during covid and it occurred when there were part shortages across the country, so it took the dealership 2 months to repair the vehicle. For the first two weeks of my car being at the mechanic, I did not have a rental vehicle because they were trying to decide if it was going to be covered under warranty or not, since this occurred a couple weeks prior to it being announced as a recall. Therefore, during that time, I did not have a car at all. Then, I have to get my engine replaced after only about 40,000 miles on the second engine before the connected rod bearing failed again. Again, that engine replacement was covered under warranty and they gave me a rental vehicle right away and any future engine replacements for the connected rod bearing failure will also be covered under warranty. However, if this is a known issue in the vehicle, Hyundai should fix it, so people don't have to keep having their engines replaced. Because it adds undue stress and takes time to have to go to the mechanic multiple times for the same issue. There was a class action lawsuit for the connected rod bearing failure, but all I got out of it was $75. Fast forward to 5 months after my engine was replaced, the mechanical water pump failed. The dealership was trying to quote me almost $2000 to replace that. I ended up getting it replaced at a different mechanic, but it still cost about $1600 to fix the water pump, since the part alone was over $1000. The part is also a dealer only part, so I was forced to buy it through Hyundai. Additionally, I explained to the Hyundai dealership that it is not right that they had me pay for the water pump replacement, since my car was in the shop just a few months prior for an engine replacement. In order to take out the engine, they also have to take out the water pump. So they installed a faulty water pump back into my car. However, they refused to pay for the repairs just because at the time they returned my vehicle, the check engine light was not on. I attempted to communicate with Hyundai corporate to have them cover the repairs or make the dealership cover the repairs for me, since I already had my engine replaced twice and just a few months after the second time, the water pump failed. However, corporate refused to help in any way. My car is just barely out of warranty. It is nice to have the 100,000 mile warranty when purchasing a new Hyundai, but expect the car to have many issues after the 100,000 mile warranty is up and expect Hyundai corporate to not care to help you with the repairs, even after two engine replacements. Additionally, the service with Hyundai corporate was horrible. I was hung up on multiple times when trying to explain my situation to a service representative with Hyundai. They didn't care to hear about the issues that I was having and hung up on me multiple times. And this is after being on hold for over a half an hour just to speak with someone. I have had this car seven years and take good care of the car. I get my oil changes on time and rotate my tires when necessary. Even though I take good care of the vehicle, I've had two engine replacements and my water pump replaced. I would not say this is a reliable car at all to own long term.
I bought this new in 2016 and have had 7 years now. No problems. The car is solid, meaning that if feels strong and built to be durable. It is comfortable, economical, reliable, has room for large adults in the back. It's quick when I need it also. On one tank where I babied it to see the best mileage I could get. I drove 836.5 miles on one tank of gas (17.1672 gallons) for a total mileage number of 48.71mpg. I average 44 to 45mpg with normal driving which is great for a large car. I get a lot of comments that it's nice looking car. It also noticed that it turns sharper than any car I have ever had.
I've owned this car coming up on 5 years now. Larger than you would think. Inside is roomy and the trunk is huge. Drives great and is very smooth in ECO mode and if you put it into sport mode it is quick to respond and fast. Will keep up with anyone. Very sexy design, ours is black and it's gorgeous. There's been zero issues with this car minus a couple recalls. We went in, they switched the parts just in case and it took less than two hours. One flat tire, which was my fault, I bought cheaper ones then ran over a razor blade. It gave a great warning after only dropping 3psi too fast, then kept the screen up so I could see exactly how fast it was losing air. Literally 3 minutes from the warning to flatter than flat. It allowed me to realize what was happening first, and pull over safely before it was fully deflated. One con I have is that sometimes, when you need to gas quickly, to avoid a stupid driver or you anticipated wrong pulling out, it will stall a bit at first which is the LAST thing you want in that moment. This happened only in ECO mode, probably twice now. I've heard this is somewhat common in electric cars. Overall this is an amazing car and I'd buy it again.
Gas mileage up to 46 miles per gallon on the highway. I was impressed because when I heard from Hyundai that it was only like 41 mpg. Smooth riding car and classy looking.
I want a car like this. Hybrid for fun and economic and not too expensive. I want to know how much does it cast?
Comfortable
Roomy and.loadednwith every option. car was.titled originally to the.Super Bowl .own a.little piece of sports trivia
I posted back in 2019. It's getting close to the end of 2021 and this car has been a daily driver. I use it for work, and for long distance road trips. I have had zero problems. My wife asked me today what I would change, and I told her my next car will be AWD. This is a heavy sedan due to the hybrid battery, etc, and slick roads are not its friend. Otherwise, it is comfortable, roomy, and going strong.
Great quality, ride, safety features, warranty
Hybrid engine failure (twice)
The vehicle has been great until this year. The hybrid motor has died twice. Second time, I pulled over, stopped and started the engine. Both gas and hybrid came back on but check engine light was on. Dealer is still looking at it. They have been super, giving us free loaners. But the hybrid issue is very disappointing. That's the only reason we would not recommend it.
