Positive Review
Having mostly GM products my entire life (45 years old), I must admit, I was a little skeptical about buying a Hyundai. After about 3 months of ownership, I couldn't be more pleased! A TON of features that rival and Cadillac, Mercedes or Lincoln out there for MUCH less!! My wife and I were originally going to lease another Acadia when we stopped by the Hyundai dealership on a whim. SO glad we did!
Critical Review
I am so disappointed in this car. All the high ratings that I let influence my decision are baffling to me. This car has a terrible ride (my kids literally vibrate in the back seat). The leather seats are hard and uncomfortable. The cup holders in the back seat are ridiculous, The seat belt gets hung between the seat and its attachment because I am 5' which means I have the seat up and forward. I hit my head when getting in sometimes because again I have the seat up as high as it can go because of my height but yet there is no headroom to get in and out. I can honestly say I sincerely dislike this car as much as I could possibly dislike a car. The leather seats will never make it through 11 years like my 2003 Highlander did and my kids were babies through toddlers at that time with lots of spills and accidents. Dont make the same mistake, drive this car for a good couple days before you decide. If only i could turn back time and I would have settled for the strippped down Highlander instead of this car.

I purchased my car in September 2024 and I just LOVE it!!! It has everything I wanted and even more!
Luxury Car
Gas mileage with turbo in city
High end Santa Fe with 14,000 miles. Turbo and very very clean. Grey with amoral shield. Touring package.
Has Android Play/Apple Play
Seat does not adjust enough. Sluggish.
Hyundai didn't want to do another recall and so they discontinued this engine. So buyer beware. It has the same engine problems as the 4 cylinder Hyundais with the huge recall.
Nothing. Unable to give it negative stars
Everything. Buying a new engine. 8k reasons
Just expect to replace an engine due to Hyundai's lack of building a quality product. Doesn't matter if you take care of it and do routine maintenance and preventative maintenance. Chances are it will not financially fall in your favor with a Hyundai in the garage or driveway (more like side of the road or repair shop). Quoted 8k from dealer for replacement engine....... not including labor and basically its highly recommended to pretty much replace everything under the hood. I will make a wiser decision and take my losses now instead of pouring more money down the Hyundai rabbit hole. Outrageous! It will without a shadow of a doubt be the last Hyundai I ever purchase and if I can help it...... anyone else from making the same mistake I did. At the end of the day, unfortunately, Hyundai is just another greedy corporation that has paid millions in fines to avoid the higher amount of honoring what was supposed to be a quality product. Make good choices!
120k miles and engine blew! Well maintained, love my car and have taken good care of it! Very sad
I've had my 2016 limited ultimate AWD SF for 4 years and am the second owner sitting at around 93,000 mi. It's fully optioned and very comfortable. I love my giant pano sunroof, my a/c seats, heated steering wheel, the sound system and the space. I don't really love the exterior look of the car but I spend 100% of my time inside the car and I enjoy the cabin. Otherwise, it looks like every other circa 2016 SUV out there. It's grey too so it gets lost in parking lots all the time. Pretty sure my family has walked up to other grey suv's about a dozen times since we owned it. Very BLAH! Like many other hyundais, and other manufacturers, it suffers from the dreaded oil consumption problem. We've had two other hyundais and were the original owners and hyundai swapped out our engines with little hesitation after they went through the oil consumption testing. As a second owner, the warranty is not the same and you will not get the privilege of entering the car into the oil consumption testing phase to qualify for the new, free to you engine. The current guidance is that you have to do all your recommended maintenance and oil changes and SHOULD the engine fail, hyundai MAY provide you a new engine, but it's still not 100%. We've been watching oil levels almost weekly to ensure I'm not driving around with no oil and it's been maintaining some weeks but others, it's definitely eating the oil. It's frustrating and somewhat concerning, but after doing some research, I learned many other car manufacturers, (Honda, Toyota, Kia) also have oil consumption issues. Outside of the oil issue and regular wear and tear items, our Santa Fe, has been good to us. I would not hesitate to get another hyundai but would consider new for the enhanced warranty.
styling, power, drives well, Hyundai warranty
Major problems - engine, transmission
I like the car overall, but it has had several major problems. The engine was replaced at 75K (Thank god for the 10Y/100K warranty), but the transmission went out around 120K.
This car is no good. We did regular maintenance and no accidents with this car. Other than minor repairs covered under warranty, all seemed good. Engine randomly starts clicking and stopped working out of no where! Checked the oil and its bone dry even after having an oil change less than 2 months ago. Researching, we found class action suit for blown engines and large oil consumption. Same thing happened to us with no indications or lights on the dash. Only after this happened did we find all of the reviews and issues similar to ours. Dealership won't replace due to mileage and no warranty, and quoted 18000 for repair. Save the headache.
