Positive Review

"Traded UP to a Hyundai?"

Just 10 years ago, the idea of trading up to a Hyundai from a Ford or a Toyota or a Nissan or a Volkswagen (like I just did) would have been the punchline to a joke. Not anymore! This 2020 Hyundai Palisade is lapping the competition in its assigned mainstream 3-row SUV segment, but would comfortably hold its own against the likes of BMW, Infiniti, and Cadillac in the luxury segment. Seriously. The drive is good. 291 horsepower delivers adequate power. No one is drag racing their 3-row SUV anyway. Smooth transmission, comfortable, quiet ride. All Wheel Drive has been working well (although this is not a true off-road vehicle). MPG has been about 20% higher than the estimates. Had one 120-mile stretch where the Palisade averaged 36 (yes, 36) miles per gallon and NOT in Eco mode! This was an anomaly, as it usually gets about 24-26 MPG for me. Plenty of room. Not as cavernous as an Atlas or Traverse, but bigger than a Highlander or an Explorer (yes - believe it or not). Plus in the Limited trim that I bought, it is filled with great technology, safety features, and a luxurious combination of interior materials. It truly is the whole package. It's not 100 percent excellent - not having power folding mirrors is a demerit. And the stock Bridgestone tires should be Michelins instead. But these are "rich people problems." It's hard to find anything wrong with the Hyundai Palisade. (Also - I can't rate the reliability as a 5 because I have not owned it long enough. I assume it will be reliable considering it has a 10 year 100,000 mile drive train warranty.) This is the best vehicle I have ever owned, period...including my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee and Volkswagen Atlas. I am happy I traded up.

Critical Review

"Dont buy"

I knew better than to buy the first run of a new model but did it anyway. Overall I like it and get good gas mileage 30 on highway when not towing. However, after about 5000 mikes it developed an air leak around front windows the dealer refuses to fix. It has a high pitched whistle when on highway. He Says it’s road noise and I just have to live with jt. Road noise is not high pitched but a roar from tires hitting different pavement. Check the forums many have this same issue. I have owned a Tuson, Santefe and now palisade. I will never buy another Hyuandi. They loose value much faster than any other make and they do not stand behind what they sell. Lesson learned.

So confused
Pros

What's a good car when it worked.

Cons

Seems like something is always wrong

So I have had my 2021 palisade for 3 years I've had the alternator go up I've had to replace the battery after 2 years. And it constantly feels like I'm in a stick shift. Now it wants to sputter And sometimes stall I'm at 40000 miles. Fuel pump? Transmission? Who knows niw the fun part is ot covered..ugh..The only reason I'm giving it a 2 star is because I love the style the comfort the space for the price But you get what you pay for I guess. To have a luxury SUV for under 50.

Love it so far
Pros

Value, comfort

Cons

None so far

Bought a '25 Palisade in Nov '24. After 5 months, one cros country road trip and 9k miles. I can say I'm 100% happy with the vehicle. We bought with road trips in mind and it didn't disappoint. VERY comfortable, plenty of power, good milage. After looking at the competition this vehicle is the best value in my opinion. May not be the best overall...only time will tell but for the money...no one can beat it

Lots of bells & whistles, but engine noise
Pros

Comfortable, interior, leather, looks good

Cons

Noisy!! Engine noise and road noise. Cheap steel.

Lots of amenities with leather, etc. Interior is very nice. Steel on exterior is very thin, so door dings are common and easy to get. The engine valves or rods are very noisy at only 12,000 miles. Power is okay; it's for hauling a family & kids around. Nothing exciting, but functional. Bought it with warranty & all, but def do not expect this to go 100k miles. It feels like a disposable vehicle. Definitely regret buying it. Hoping to trade it off before value drops much more. Oh, Hyundais do not hold their value.

Back seats…,

From the perspective of sitting right behind the front seats. The plastic of the seatbelt that goes over chest presses right into the sciatica nerve on hip. The strap has no up & down adjustment so at my height, there is a constant friction/rubbing on neck. Was raw very quickly but this would be an easy fix with purchase of padding. Seat was not comfortable at all. I’m sure others might like the harder seat. Was not a pleasant road trip. From the back seats. Appears the folks in front were happy as they were not having to adjust their back constantly. Very good looking vehicle but not comfortable for over 2 people

Great Vehicle

I have owned the 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy since September 2023. This is a great vehicle, overall handling is great, the perks, can't ask for a better vehicle. Smooth handling, when I step on the gas, it moves out...before we Purchased this vehicle, I had a 2019 Sierra Denali. the Hyundai Palisade have more perks and a much better warranty. Much more for a lower price. Great Vehicle

Not bad at all for the money
Pros

Almost everything

Cons

Window noise

Overall happy with everything, the only knock on the 1st Gen model is the you hear a lot of outside noise because the windows don't block it out the greatest but it isn't that bad. Sometimes it sounds like a window is cracked, but the wind goes through the seals. I would strongly recommend the palisade to anyone just because I think it's the best bang for your buck before you get into a luxury brand.
