The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a well-rounded electric SUV that does almost everything well, backed by a high-tech interior, good range, and the best warranty in its class. Pricing starts at $43,195.
As the world of electric vehicles grows, some EVs are still working out kinks. While some electrified cars require compromises on interior space, performance, or range, the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one EV that does almost everything well. So well, in fact, that it’s earned our Electric Vehicle Best Buy Award. It’s an electric SUV with a spacious, high-tech interior and an impressive range of up to 303 miles. It also carries the outstanding, best-in-class Hyundai warranty. The main competitors to the Ioniq 5 are the Nissan Ariya, Toyota bZ4X, and the mechanically similar Kia EV6.
New standard features for 2024 include a Wi-Fi hotspot, more airbags, rear seatbelt pre-tensioners, and a haptic feedback steering wheel. Also, the Limited trim now has a digital rearview mirror. Looking ahead, has announced a high-performance Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is joining the lineup for the 2025 model year.
The 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 has a starting sticker price of $43,195, with the range-topping IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum Edition kicking off at $60,795. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,938 to $2,882 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 delivers a smooth and comfortable driving experience. Responsive electric torque makes for quick acceleration no matter which configuration you go with. Naturally, the dual-motor setup makes more power and torque than the single-motor version, resulting in a more exciting drive. If you’re considering the Ioniq 5 for your first electric vehicle, you won’t find too steep of a learning curve in getting used to this EV. It’s a nice way to make the switch from gas to electric, thanks to its agreeable driving character.
The interior design of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 speaks the same language as the exterior. It feels modern and a touch futuristic, but also has a nice minimalist feel to it. The materials are good quality for this price point, and the tech features are user-friendly. We found the Ioniq 5 to have plenty of passenger space in both rows of seats. The cargo space is about average for an SUV this size, and it has a little front trunk for small items.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has an aesthetic that’s sleek yet subtle. The light signature makes it look futuristic, but it’s not as flashy as some other EVs. We appreciate the modern and restrained look; it’s for drivers who don’t want to be too showy about driving an electric car. In terms of size, the dimensions of the Ioniq 5 are close to those of compact electric SUVs like the Nissan Ariya and Toyota bZ4X.
