Hybrid Variation Available

The 2025 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid touts class-leading fuel economy and range wrapped in a superb package. Pricing starts at $26,645.
The 2025 Elantra Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient version of Hyundai’s already-excellent compact sedan. It also happens to be the most efficient car in its class and one of the most fuel-frugal cars you can buy, period. How good is it? The EPA rates the Elantra Hybrid up to 54 mpg combined and with a total range of 670 miles between fill-ups in a best-case scenario.
Yet this mega efficiency is only part of the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid’s story. The car also looks fantastic, is surprisingly roomy, has all the latest tech and safety features, and is backed by the best warranty coverage in the business.
The Hyundai Elantra is also available with a variety of gas engines, and we review that model separately.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current collection of hybrid cars, including this 2024 Elantra Hybrid Limited in Intense Blue with an all-in sticker price of $30,810.
The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid gains a third trim, the SEL Sport, which slots between the Blue and Limited trims.
The 2025 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid has a starting sticker price of $26,645, with the range-topping Elantra Hybrid Limited HEV kicking off at $30,995. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,054 to $1,324 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid remains an excellent value among hybrid compact sedans. The new SEL Sport trim, one up from the base Blue level, has strong features for the dollar, including dual 10.25-inch screen displays, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a wireless phone charger.
The 2025 Elantra Hybrid’s starting sticker price sits between the Toyota Corolla Hybrid and the new-for-2025 Honda Civic Hybrid.
Before buying a new Hyundai Elantra Hybrid, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Resale values are about average at best. Remember, recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
Here’s what is perhaps our favorite thing about driving the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid: You might not even know it’s a hybrid. It feels like an ordinary car, not one with a sophisticated gas-electric powertrain.
On paper, the Elantra’s 139 horsepower doesn’t sound like much (and it isn’t). However, thanks in part to 195 lb-ft of torque, we found it acceptable for the kind of around-town and highway commuting this car will be used for. Furthermore, we really appreciate that Hyundai endows the Elantra Hybrid with a 6-speed automatic transmission instead of the kind of continuously variable transmission used by its Toyota and Honda rivals. While CVTs have made great gains to feel like they are mimicking traditional shifts, there’s no need to mimic here, because there are actual gears. We find that gratifying.
At its best in the Blue trim, the 2025 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid earns an EPA-reported 54 mpg in combined city/highway driving, or 50 mpg in higher trims. The former figure leads the class, while the latter matches the best the Toyota Corolla Hybrid can muster and still beats the Honda Civic Hybrid by one mpg. Another significant factor is range. The EPA says the Elantra Hybrid Blue can travel up to 670 miles on a full tank. That is easily the best in its class. Even the Limited trim has an exceptional range of 620 miles.
The Elantra Hybrid is classified as a compact sedan, but it feels a class above in terms of both space and feature set. Like its gas-powered sibling, the Elantra Hybrid has class-leading front headroom and rear legroom, making it a great vehicle for taller drivers and passengers. We love that even with its battery pack along for the ride in the chassis, the Elantra Hybrid gives up no space in its interior or trunk (which is roomy at 14.2 cubic feet).
We are fans of the Elantra Hybrid’s interior. It has a real-deal gear lever and physical buttons for climate and audio functions. The 10.25-inch touchscreen (8 inches on the base Blue trim) is canted toward the driver. The driver’s area feels special in general, as it is divided from the passenger seat by a significant grab handle. Tell your friend up front that it’s not personal.
After testing the Elantra Hybrid, our only significant gripe is that the rearward view was a bit limited due to the high decklid.
You’ll have a hard time distinguishing the Elantra Hybrid from its gas-powered sibling, and we applaud that. To our eyes, the Elantra is one of the best-looking compact sedans you can buy. The hybrid version gets the same treatment with sharp creases, a squat nose, and a tapered tail. Oh, and a small “hybrid” badge on the back, just in case you forget.
Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
We love that this has been standard on even the entry-level Blue trim. We don’t love that you lose the wireless capability when moving up to the bigger screen of the SEL Sport and Limited models.
Bluelink
A standard feature (with a 3-year free trial) on the SEL Sport and Limited trims of the Elantra Hybrid, Bluelink provides remote functions like lock/unlock, stolen vehicle location, and automatic collision notification.
Dual 10.25-inch displays
One displays driver information behind the steering wheel, and the other handles the infotainment system at the center of the dashboard. They add to the Limited model’s high-tech flavor and suit the sparse interior design. These displays are standard on SEL Sport and Limited trims.
Hyundai Digital Key
Access to the 2025 Elantra Hybrid can be gained using an app on an Android device, or those with Apple iPhones can have a key card. This feature is standard in Limited trim.
Adaptive cruise control
Buyers expecting to spend a lot of time on the freeway may want to consider the Limited trim’s extra equipment, which includes adaptive cruise control with a stop/go function.
Heated/ventilated front seats
While some versions of the gas-powered Elantra offer heated seats, the Elantra Hybrid Limited is the only Elantra trim to offer ventilated seats.
A 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine teamed with an electric motor energized by a lithium-ion polymer battery gives the Elantra Hybrid 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. That power goes to just the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. Regular gasoline is acceptable.
That power output is exactly one horsepower more than that of the Toyota Corolla Hybrid, though the Toyota is the lone sedan among its kind to offer all-wheel drive. The new Honda Civic Hybrid brings significantly more muscle to the game with 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque.
5-Year/60,000-Mile Warranty
Hyundai and sister company Kia offer warranties that beat most rivals. New-vehicle coverage is for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever happens first. The battery and the powertrain in the 2025 Elantra Hybrid have warranties for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
Safety
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award and a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Since the 2025 model arrives with no significant changes, we expect it to repeat those ratings. Part of what makes the Elantra Hybrid so safe is its generous list of standard SmartSense safety features like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist.

Forward collision warning
Buyers expect features like this to be standard and it does indeed come in every new Elantra Hybrid sedan. In the Blue trim, the system has automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. The Limited’s version is enhanced with cyclist detection and junction turning assistance.
Safe Exit Warning
When about to step out of the Elantra Hybrid, this standard feature will activate an alert if there’s anything approaching from behind and opening any door might result in an accident.
Highway Drive Assist
This comes in at the Limited trim level. It’s a lane-centering function that helps keep the car between the markings, even when the freeway decides to curve. Coupled with adaptive cruise control (another standard feature in the Limited version), the grind of a long highway stretch becomes significantly more bearable.
