Positive Review

"Best Hyundai I've owned yet"

I've been buying Hyundai vehicles since 1992, mostly the Accent. I drive 80 miles a day to and from work and this particular one is the best yet. I've hit 4 deer with it and have yet to break a headlight, traveled through 2 feet of snow for 20 miles (November Lake Effect south of Buffalo NY 2014)and nothing has stopped this little vehicle. I've followed all maintenance (more or less) and the car just keeps going. Shows it's age and the toll of 121,00 miles with rust starting to appear, but it is expected with the brutal winters here in Western New York. I have passed SUVs stuck in snow and had the opportunity to pull a Ford Taurus out of a snow bank. Given the 5 speed manual and snow tires all around it is all but unstoppable. Best vehicle for the money!

"So-So Car"

I've had this car for 2 years. It's a good car to commute to school, work, whatever in, but the gas mileage doesn't match what the suggested gas mileage says. I used to travel 12 miles round trip to school every weekday and I had to fill my tank up every week. The seats are hardly comfortable. They stain easily. The floor carpet is cheap and hair gets caught in it easily. Passengers in the backseat are cramped. Leg room is horrible. When you put car seats in the backseat it overlaps to the next seat. If there's two car seats, someone can barely sit in the middle seat, or end seat. Forget putting three car seats back there! It's' a good car for someone whose small like me, but when I bring my sister and her kids with me it gets noisy and cramped very easily. Everyone is too close together. My visor broke very easily by me pulling it down and my trunk opener broke off. Everything is made of cheap plastic that breaks easily and scratches easily! If you get dirt of any kind inside on the door panels you have to scrub it hard to get it completely off. The car scratches easily on the outside too! I'm disappointed in this car for spending about $16,000 total on it. Plus I owe a lot of than what the resale value is.

I had this car for a while

This was my first car, and I had a lot of problems but it was always a cheap fix and never gave out on me. I was in an accident with this car and it was totaled, my 3 friends and I walked away with no serious harm. This car did an amazing job keeping me safe, the car literally smashed into my driver side front and back door. I’m honestly blessed.

I (still) love this car
Pros

So fun to drive, peppy, simple, love the hatchback

Cons

noisy cabin, no AWD

I still have my 2007 Accent Hatchback 5 speed manual. I love this car and always have. It's got pep when I have to accelerate onto the highway, and I do love that stick shift. The cabin noise has always been loud and it does not have power windows or door locks, but I never had those, so I don't mind. It's a basic basic basic car, but repairs have been very minimal and it's been incredibly reliable. I hate that manual shift is so hard to find now, and I will soon have to give up my beloved little "Blue Pearl", as it's time for AWD, which this car did not have.

Five Star Fifth Choice
Pros

Economy, Handling, 170000 miles +

Cons

No Cruise, Keep OEM, Not Hot Shot Street Car

Cruise Control did not come standard on my model. You will need it. Runs 4000 - 6000 from 65 on. Tedious Pedal Control leads to higher speeds more often, which is compounded by the bottoming out portion of correction by pedal alone. 1.6l DOHC is not sluggish but using the short throw shifter is a joy in daily stop and go traffic where it seems to produce the best fuel economy for me. Just remember what you are driving. If you want that economy, drive it as such. Aftermarket options shouldn't really be high on your list outside of a sound system and alarm. Less flash deters thieves because this is a convertible in those terms. Can be a bit confusing as my model is a GS but has a strange mix of options from all trim levels, minus the sedans' extra doors. Maintenance is seemingly simple but the cramped engine bay unnecessarily prevents novices from the simple fixes that have a known failure window (In the 10's of to 100 thousands of miles). Belts, fans, plugs, alternator, oil and filter, etc.... These are labor intensive because of tight spaces to get a tool in. Not because they are inherently difficult parts of the engine DIY attitude that yields 300000 miles. I could go on and on. Purchased after finding an 1/8" of grime on engine of first choice, Suzuki Convenience. Purchased Saab 01 95 that blew up eleven miles from dealership. Four lemons later I came back to this vehicle hoping the slight pull was low tire pressure. It was. 163000 miles with three owners from Florida. $3600 as an even trade for the Saab blowing up. I got the best car on the lot. Already 7000 miles at speed, distance, time, city, highway. I would like the price to have been lower according to your own website but whatever. I feel I got a steal. Thank You

The Turtle

Trustworthy
Pros

It's like a bigger version of a kids go kart.

Cons

Lacks power going up big hills at 70+ speeds

I have driven this car for 4 years and taken it from Southern California to Illinois multiple times. Never had a single problem other than regular maintenance. Most major problem in almost 50k miles was a timing belt that was old and needed changing. The turtle is the best.
