Positive Review
my 3rd odyssey. bought the 2012 touring. best van on the market and its not even close love the looks, navigation system is awesome. If i were to purhase over again- i would buy the EXL with Navigation, add an after market DVD. For nearly 4 grand in price difference, the touring doesn't give you a ton of necessary features over the EXL. I really am disappointed in the 6 speed, My 06 Odyssey with the 5 speed, is smoother and more powerful than the 2012. The 6 speed seems to really be geared for fuel economy and just isn't as smooth as the 5 speed. Other gripe and heads up- the touring has 10 speakers- none in the back!!!!! $40,000 and I have to spend $400 to put in 2 3rd row speakers- give me a break honda. If you want factory installed 3rd row speakers, you have to purchase the touring elite. The 2nd row on the 06 is better than the 2nd row on the 12. Why? You could store the middle seat on the 06 and the captains chairs had inside arm rests. On the 2012, if you remove the middle seat, their are no inside arm rests (i know this sounds picky, but we did they change a good thing). Do I recommend the car- you bet. My advise- get the EXL with Navigation. On the $3500 you save, get an aftermarket overhead DVD player and have the car shop install 3rd row speakers while they are at it. You just need to order speaker covers for the 3rd row, just google it and they cost like 30 bucks each. The 2 position memory storage on the touring doesn't work well anyway. So for the touring, you are spending 3500-40000 more for fancier wheels, 1 MPG better fuel effieciency, blinkers on the side mirrors, and fog lights.
Critical Review
I have replaced the transmission three times each at a high cost. Now I am throwing the car away on the fourth failure.

Great value, engine runs well, very comfortable, great for families.
Some rest starting to show, automatic sliding doors can be a little temperamental.
We’ve owned this van for 7 years. It is great for families or if you need to transport a lot of stuff. The engine runs well. We have taken it on multiple family trips and it’s been fantastic.
Purchased new from Scott Honda in April of 2016. In August 2024, with 66K miles, cylinders 1-3 require new piston rings. After doing some research, it appears this is a systemic issue with the Honda Odyssey
Reliability, comfort, good gas mileage
Paint issue on white ones
We love our 2012 Odyssey. It has been an excellent car for the two of us. We are approaching 80 years old, and It is easy to get in and out of, unlike some sedans we have owned. We love it for road trips (long ones), and for grocery shopping. It rides nice and gets respectable gas mileage. It has been extremely reliable. We will drive it to 200K, and probably buy a new one like it. Only major issue we have had is paint peeling on roof and back door. The white ones seems to do this. We had parts repainted, and it has not peeled again.
Depending on what trim level you get i highly the
We’ve had to replace the ignition coils 3 times
It was a white 2017 and we had to change the alternator, the transmission and the ignition coils 3 times.
It is a great car.
It has a few dents and scrathes
Normal wear! At the 100,00 mile I replaced the transmission. It has been a great car. Since I have moved further into my eighties I need to sell my car. I hate to see it go.
There is not a single good word to say about this
Nothing but problem after problem after problem
I bought this car brand new in 2014. It was absolutely nightmare the worst car I have ever owned in my life I had nothing but problems problems after problem after problem at 8000 km at highway speed when I hit the brake the car shakes so much one time it almost kicked us off the highway and kill everyone on board at 17.000 Km on the bumpy road was making so clunky noise it felt like I am driving a 1975 vehicle at 21,000 km we were driving on highway 110 km speed. rear window shattered and it made so loud noise. I thought someone shot us and disrupt me so much. I was so scared I almost went under 18 wheeler truck. At 26,000 km when I had it for oil change Honda told me the tires are worn out and they are not safe to drive. They recommend me to replace all four of them I fought with them so hard how could they be like that with 26,000 worn out and not safe to drive I tried to make them change at their cost, but they didn't. After the last issue with a tires, I noticed Honda is chipping out so much putting as cheap stuff as possible on their vehicles I decided to trade it in and go with a different brand. I will never ever buy another Honda in my life.

Engine problems
There were issues with VCM System, please ensure engine has been rebuilt if looking to buy. There are several articles regarding this issue online. Honda did extend the recall to 8 years on this issue, should have been a Lifetime recall. This isn't the only model year with issue. You would be better off looking at another manufacturer.
