Positive Review
I've owned 2 hondas in my life. An 08 Civic EX Coupe automatic and an 11 CR-Z EX w/o navi manual. Of the two, I like various things about them. My perspective is taken after owning both. Pros for the CR-Z. Its much more nimble, though roughly the same weight, its body lean is much less than the Civic. Its also quicker off the line and passing on the freeway is much much easier, I dont even downshift, the "sport" mode takes care of it for me. Excellent fuel economy. I get ~39 mpg average, and my daily commute is all city ~11miles each way. Neutral- The sun visors are equally cheap in both cars. But thats the way it is for all honda's under 25k, so its a tie. The interior styling is futuristic and really neat in both cars. I like them equally. The digital speedometer is AWESOME! I just love it. The steering wheel in both is great. The CR-Z is a tad narrower but the leather feel is great and makes up for its rather puny size compared to the Civic. The alloy rims are really nice as are all EX stuff that comes with both cars. Definately a "must" addon to either vehicle, the value is there. Just like the civic, the passenger is left totally bored. There is nothing for the passenger to do but change his vents. Its all driver centric, pro or con, you decide, but my wife is totally bored over there. Must have ipad in glovebox (which fits in both btw) Both have ample trunk space. I love them, but the CR-z has a slight advantage in that its temp controlled and always accessible from cockpit. Cons- The civic seats were bigger and better for touring. The CR-Z seats are shorter in the seat, so someone of my size (6'2") has a rough time keeping comfortable after several hours. The battery is too small. Only .6kWh means you drain it if you floor it on the onramp. And when that battery isnt helping, that motor is too under powered. That makes it a tad slower than the civic for long accelerations. The vehicle also only charges when in gear. So if you want to charge the battery without moving your SOL. Its a bummer its not plugin, so dont think you're going to race more than 2, 1/4 mile stretches with battery.
Critical Review
Not a good vehicle.... Honda stopped production in 2016 making these cars. To many issues with the car.

My crz had ima hybrid battery issues at 110,000 miles. Around 4,100 dollar estimate for replacement parts and labor diagnostic fees then tax on top of that. I know other people who have had there ima battery go around 100,000 miles warranty expires on it in 10 years so your bound to just miss it. Battery lasts 10-12 years so for something that’s bound to fail it’s not worth the price to fix.
I love my crz. I bought it brand new in 2016. It's sporty and amazing on gas. People constantly stop me saying, "what a cute car and what is it?" My crz has been very reliable and I would buy it again.
I drove a 2013 Honda CR-Z ex from 2016-2023. During that time, I put on over 200k miles (bought it used at 43k, at which time I was driving my father's 2011 CR-Z). I traveled to over 50 national parks, drove some of the best roads in the United States, delivered pizza and sandwiches as a college job, and didn't shy away from sport mode (and fast cornering). Through all of this, I only ever changed tires, brake pads, oil, transmission fluid, spark plugs, and a battery at 200k. Never was a service bill over $1000, and I frequently put some of the above off because of road trip plans or my limited college budget (11k+ mileage between service at times). Over the course of many road trips, I enjoyed agile driving on mountain roads without ever a thought of danger. Cornering in a CRZ is a treat for such an economy vehicle. A highway ride in the car is very enjoyable, and I have averaged over 45 mpg on some trips. I have fit tents, cots, 4 traveler's worth of goods for a 5 day trip (other two passengers on a motorcycle), a 65 inch TV, and a bike at various times in the roomy rear space. While I love the car, I am not blind to some downsides. Its low profile comes with disadvantages of being the perfect height get paint chips from stones or trash flying from other vehicle. It also makes some dirt roads a very concerning ride (despite doing quite well in 5+ inches of snow), and has taken a significant amount of damage from collisions with animals. My fog lights were nearly always smashed but still functional. Longer uphills in the mountains can be a struggle once the battery power gives out. I have been passed by many 18-wheelers but have also beat sports cars off the line at stoplights when the battery has been fully charged. As you can likely gather, I have an attachment to this car as my first, and it has never given me cause for concern. The limited electrics make it easy to diagnose and hear when something is wrong, and the fixes are always small, even for a non-car-educated cheap roadtripper. Sadly, CR-Z's are no longer made, but should you find yourself needing cheap vehicle and find one used, I cannot recommend it enough. I plan to continue to use my CR-Z well into the 300k's, but am unfortunately in the market for a new vehicle as an accident through no fault of my own has caused significant visual damage. The car is now a victim of it's lack of value/high mileage and the visual repairs exceed the KBB value, but it has been an excellent partner and will continue to be for less professional work.
Hybrid,3 driving modes, so it's fast and saves gas
Turbo in it, it's small but still gives a kick pr
Great gas mileage and it shuts off the car when u come to a stop, which saves u gas money. It comes with three different engine modes, sport, eco mode and a normal mode. Also it only has 147,450 miles on it which is still pretty much a new engine. - The least I'd take for it would be 3900$-5000$
Very fun to drive
Slow. Foglights always break. Rear axle beam
Fun little maneuverable car. No power at all but it can get up to speed but thats the point. Saves on gas but is fun.
Fuel economy, front-end styling, cargo space
Rear-end styling, slightly bumpy ride
For a 2-seater this car has ample room. The seating and legroom is not cramped, and the cargo area is simply huge. There are two compartments where the rear seats would have been where I store sunscreen, bugspray, and a few books for the road. When the rear faux-seats are lowered flat I can buy a month's worth of groceries with room to spare. I chose the CR-Z for its hybrid fuel economy, it's good looks, and its 2-doors. But don't believe the underrated fuel mileage. While officially getting a maximum 39, I regularly get 43 average MPG, and have seen 50 MPG more than once. But I can get 45 if I drive conservatively. However, I actually prioritize fuel economy, coast toward all red lights, accelerate gently, and drive almost exclusively in the CR-Z's green-mode. Few people will be able to match my driving MPG because economy is my priority, not the impatient poor habits of the person behind me, so you might expect the mid-30s if you fly up to red lights and slam on your brakes like most mindless drivers. I also love that my EX trim does not have a little infotainment screen but has real buttons that I can see and feel. It also has a hidden USB port where I keep hundreds of albums with me everywhere I go. The hidden glasses compartment on the dash is also neat and makes my happy with my choice of car. Honestly the only complaint I have about the CR-Z is the rear-end styling. I think it could have been done better, but the sides and the front-end look great so I'm not disappointed in the CR-Z's looks by any means. It looks sporty and gives me 40 MPG. Its 10-gallon tank provides me with 450 miles of range. What else could I ask for?
Fun to drive,Great looking,Agile, gas saving ect.
Wide Blind spots ,low profile nobody see’s you OTR
The layout of this car lets you forget your in a hybrid vehicle and was what made me notice it in the first place. Different economy modes are fun to play with and make for an enjoyable drive. Build quality is what you’d expect from Honda and attention to detail is evident. Very happy with this car
Looks great, very comfortable and fun to drive.
Could have better rear visibility.
Love my sexy CRZ! Knock wood, Iv'e had no problems with this sporty little car and will keep it as my commuter vehicle.
