Positive Review

"Indestructible"

I am an amateur race car driver, so it's a given that I'm equally hard on my street car. I have a 1997 CRV that I use as my daily driver. Bought used with 100,000 on the ticker. All the maintenance records show no repairs... only oil changes. Changed the timing belt as preventative maintenance at 120,000... Other than that the only thing I've changed is tires, oil and windshield wipers. The CRV now has 230,000 miles on it. The thing has never had a tune up. Still drives as good as new and I've abused it. I've taken it for passes down the 1/8 mile drag strip. I've driven it in the mud and got it high-centered on rocks. I've driven it ON the beach.. I've driven it in deep snow, ice, water up to the door handles. I've driven it in Midtown Manhatten, the New Jersey Turnpike, the Blue Ridge Parkway and on Interstate 4 in Orlando. I totally would take this car ANYWHERE in the United States right now. Doesn't use any oil... still has cold air... can't beat it!

"Better have deep pockets"

Have had this car since new. Has 102,000 miles on it. In past year and a half have replaced transmission, power window motors, air conditioner compressor, radiator, muffler, rear sway bars, starter and, of course, timing belt and water pump. Car has been garaged and driven by a woman who cares for her cars. Total cost of repairs is $5,730.00. This excludes normal wear items (tires, brakes, etc.). Looking on websites, these are all known Honda problems with this model CRV. By comparison, have 2005 Pontiac G6 with similar mileage and only $345.00 in repairs (excluding wear items). Where is the value in this Honda CRV.........no top ratings here!

first impressions
Pros

Quieter ride expected from a hybrid. Safety Suite, sound alerts. Wireless charging and CarPlay. Roomy interior. Reclinable rear seat backs.

Cons

Wireless charger causes phone to heat up. Rear storage lid cover is not a standard item.

I bought this last week as a trade-up from my 2017 CR-V. The new Sports Touring Hybrid includes most of the features my previous vehicle had. The 2025 AWD Hybrid offers a quieter ride and comes with all the safety features that my old car had, plus sound alerts as an additional enhancement. However, I have noticed that the lane keep assist in this model isn’t as firm as it was before, which means there’s still a chance of drifting out of your lane. The CarPlay feature and the wireless charger are nice additions, but my phone tends to get hotter to the touch and doesn’t seem to charge effectively. Additionally, the rear storage area didn’t come with a cover, but the dealer informed me that it is now available as an option. It’s surprising that this isn’t included with the top trim model!

Best car I had the honour to drive
Cons

no cons

This car bougt me three houses. I took it to work every day and never dissapointed me . Even after staying in the garage for several months while a was away on work related trip, the car started and was ready to roll. I love it. I also purchased a newer honda CRV 2011 that still looks like a brand new car and in 12 years I only had to fix the AC .

I bought a 1998 Honda CRV in 2012. It was sold by the original buyer and did not have 100,000 miles on it yet. Today it has 233,000 miles and running with the big dogs on the road but at a lesser fuel cost than the big dogs. I have taken care of this vehicle as if it was brand new. The paint is not rusted, the seat cover are easy to clean and it is still air tight around the windows. The biggest quality of this vehicle is it has a gas tank that holds over 15 gallons and is only 4 cylinders and it require ONLY low octane gas. My son wants me to have an automatic transmission installed but I will just buy another small vehicle before doing that because it will take away from the originality of this strong vehicle.

Love my 1998 Honda CRV
Pros

Dependable,Easy to Park,Seats flatten,dutchhatck

Cons

None

I bought my 1998 Honda CRV in 2003 and now in 2023 it is 25 years old! It is still my favorite car EVER and I think it will outlive me. I had the clutch changed out a few years ago for the 1st time and other than timing belt, radiator, and some gaskets and joints under the car, she has been the most maintenance-free car I have ever owned. Her paint is still on point and no corrosion or bad spots unlike cars I have seen half her age. The table that comes out of the back for picnics and tailgating is still such a surprise to a lot of people along with the plug in the back for music. She is still the one that makes me smile!

1999 Honda Crv

One owner, garage kept. 131k miles. Never had any problems with my car. Except, if you ever lose your gas cap, you have to replace it with a Honda gas Cap. I love my Honda.

Best Car I Have Ever Owned
Pros

Comfortable, and I feel safe in it

Cons

NONE

I have owned this car for 26 years, and have driven it in every condition you can imagine, It has over 350,000 miles on it . I have never had a breakdown or been stranded with this wonderful car. The only things I have replaced are things of normal wear, such as breaks, shocks, tires, and such.... I am buying a 1998 Honda CRV, with only 204,000 miles tonight, for my 22 year old grand daugher who just graduated University, and I won't worry one moment about her safety. Paying only $2500. for this SUV that is in excellent condition and runs on Liquid Gas that was added by the previous owner

Bought new. Still perfect.
Pros

Lasts forever

Cons

Lasts forever

Besides normal maintenance, only needed a valve job at about 150,000 miles. And I replaced the four window motors at 200,000 miles. Got 24.5 mpg new in 2000 and still does in 2023. Burns no oil. Honda probably lost money when they made this car to run forever.
