Positive Review

"Stylish, smart, smooth, and easy to love."

I knew that when the time came to say goodbye to my beloved, but gigantic and no longer necessary Honda Odyssey, that I would buy another Honda. I've driven Subarus, a Volvo, an Audi, and a Chevy... but the reliability, comfort, and performance of a Honda just can't be beat. I had my eye on the CR-V, and when Honda announced that the 2020 fleet would include a hybrid model, honestly -- I was sold before I even test drove it. I did my due diligence and test-drove other comparable hybrid SUVs (the RAV-4, the Escape), but neither came close to the CR-V's styling, cabin space, and overall look/feel for me. I got the Metallic Pearl (white) EX-L with black leather interior, and it's so sleek, both in and out. The body is modern and clean, no extraneous detailing and no clunky plastic. The cabin is roomy, the leather is soft, the sound system is excellent. The backseat is the roomiest of the 3 SUVs I tested, the cabin and trunk as well. The dashboard seems complicated at first, but is easy to get the hang of. The technology (lane sensing, brake hold) becomes second nature once you get used to it. The ride is extremely smooth and quiet, the steering is tight and there's just enough low-end torque. It accelerates nicely and slows smoothly. The little things - like not having to hold the button while the sunroof opens, like the key fobs that recognize each driver's seating preferences, like the self-dimming rear view mirror, like the adjustable center console - just enhance the overall feelings of luxury in this car. My one and only complaint is that I wish that the steering wheel came out further. I'm not short-limbed, but I can keep my hands on the wheel and rest my elbows on the door/console at the same time. The cherry on top of the cake is the fact that this car is averaging combined 40 mph city & highway. At this point in the game, it's silly to not take advantage of hybrid technology. Buy hybrid! You won't regret it! I'm so happy with this purchase.

"Acceleration lag- I should’ve had a test drive"

The CRV Hybrid was what I wanted , better MPG and more HP so I traded in my 2019 CRV on a 2020 Hybrid. My big mistake was not driving it before I bought it. The Hybrid is well built with nice features like push button gear selector and LED fog lights but there are negatives. First of all there is no spare tire as the battery takes up the space but the real negative is when you press on the gas to to accelerate quickly the RPM revs run high and the engine slowly picks up speed which made it difficult pulling into traffic on the interstate. It seems like the Hybrid was over-revving until it picked up speed. The Honda dealer recognized the lag in acceleration but there was nothing they could do, it was designed that way. I liked the Hybrid but didn’t want this experience for another 5 years so I lost money on the trade in but went back to a 2020 CRV gas engine which works fine and has a spare tire..and yes , I test drove this model before I bought it. I know that the Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid is a big seller and not sure if they have the same acceleration design problem

It was reliable up to the 36k warranty

My EXL was mostly reliable up until I he 3/36 came up and luckily I purchased an addl 5/100 at the end of the standard warranty. Since then- it's like a time bomb went off. Infotainment screen replaced twice, heated seat elements replaced 4 times, both fuel injectors replaced, valves needed tightening due to engine acceleration/ engine light issues, and brake sensor issues. Honda used to be a reliable manufacturer, but with a 4 yr old CrV at 45k miles- it's time to walk away from Honda and my lemon and go to another car mfg.

Great comfortable car with good gas mileage
Pros

Handling, comfort, info dash, no gear shift, mpg

Cons

Dated infotainment system

I bought this car new and I have had it for over three years. It is a Pearl White EXL Hybrid with beige interior. The latter is a bit two tone with black and some faux wood as well. I love love love this car. It handles really well and I like the extra weight of the hybrid as it seems to kind of hug the road and feels more stable than the non-hybrids that I test drove. Only a couple of times has my mileage hit 40 miles per gallon - on long road trips and driving 60-65. However it regularly gets 34 - 35 mpg. Thus far I have had no major issues with the vehicle performance. I love the beige interior - it was a top feature for me and one of the reasons I didn’t buy a Subaru - and the cabin is roomy and very comfortable. My uncle weighs over 250lbs and is very satisfied with the passenger seat. Two things that I really love: There is no gear shift, simply buttons that you push to change gears. This is GREAT!! No useless tall unnecessary post in the middle of the space. I also absolutely love the dash info design. There is one informational window where you can change what you see (gas / mileage / miles remaining; music; engine pull; tools; etc) and there is not one analog dial, let alone two. I mean, who really looks at a tachometer anyway? I love the clean streamlined view that I see, at least in my peripheral vision, 99% of the time. From what I understand, Honda quit making the push button gear shifting mechanism. AND they have changed the info screen and cluttered it up again with two windows. I will concede, the infotainment system is dated. I wish I could see both my Waze trip and the music info at the same time, and / or more easily switch between the music view and the Apple Connect view. I might knock off a 1/4 of a start for this last factor. But overall, I love this car.

It's a solid car
Pros

comfort, reliability

Cons

gas mileage, acceleration, performance

I've had my CRV Hybrid for almost two years (31,000 miles). Pros: It's stylish, comfortable, and solidly built. I appreciate its slightly more compact size. When the back seats are folded down there is plenty of cabin room. Overall, I've enjoyed the car. However, I'm not sure if the "hybrid" feature was enough to justify the $40,000 price tag. Cons: Acceleration is not the best. Noise level on long road trips can be better. I was a bit disappointed in the gas mileage. I average about 33 mpg. Bottom Line - For the money, I wouldn't buy it again. I actually prefer the HRV. I've decided to look for something else for my next car.

Best crv yet
Pros

Comfortable, Good mileage, auto truck, safety sett

Love my hybrid. Averaging just over 37 mpg after 31,000 miles. Have to use sport option to get pep. This is my 3rd CRV. I did get the touring with tire upgrade which has a smoother ride. MPG good in traffic. I live in midwest, and yes, mpg does decrease with heater but still much better than my husbands crv.

It's okay
Pros

Stylish, roomy

Cons

Poor acceleration

But I'm ready to trade it in. The car lags in speed especially when merging traffic. For $40k for the 2022 I expected a lot more out of this car. The mileage is not that great. However, I am not one that drives very far so I have less than,7,000 miles

Noisy ride

Comfortable ride with the exception to outside noise. If you're using heat/air, that is where the gas mileage decreases to approximately 31-33 mpg. Also the built in navigation system is not dependable. I have to use my auto connect to the phone instead.

Too small Honda CRV
Pros

Styling

Cons

Poor gas mileage forhybrid, road noise, bad seats

The Honda CRV is built well , but engenders made some mistakes. It should have been 2 inches higher for an ,( All wheel Drive). It should have been in Front cabin at ,( least ), 4 inches wider to give passengers a more roomier feel. In the rear length at least 4 inches longer for more cargo space. And the should have attached a space saver spare on the back lift door! Not having a spare tire is INSANE! Same goes for ANY Care maker who leaves an air inflator in the back!! Sheer stupidity! People want a SPARE TIRE! Also the 2022 Honda has too much road noise, and they totally misrepresent the fuel economy. In town I never get more than 33!! That’s not enough for a small hybrid SUV. The Best I have ever gotten on Hwy was 36.5! Do the actually think people are just going to drive 55 mph?! How !!STUPID! Honda really misrepresented how many mpg the Honda CRV will actually get, both city and Highway! It’s only about 2 miles more than the Regular CRV! It’s just not worth it! The lied big time about miles per gallon, or I never would have gotten this vehicle. Road noise is terrible and for an All wheel Drive vehicle it wants to ,( drift) and not hang tight with curves like a subraru!! Finally the front seats are to short and make your legs go numb on a trip of more than 30 miles!! UNACCEPTABLE! The steering wheel at it highest position makes getting in and out of the Honda CRV;( challenging) the touch screen radio is glitchy and changing stations driving on their touch screen , could cause a person to have an accident!! Oh yes on the highest setting; the windshield wipers ,( do NOT ) , get job done in a moderate rain! The positives are; good sound system, no wind noise, but again ( very poor gas mileage and lots of road noise! I’ll never buy another HONDA!! The NISSAN ROGUE is a better value!!
