Positive Review
I own a 1995 GMC Suburban with the 6.5 turbo diesel in it. It has approximately 270,000 miles now and has been a very reliable vehicle to me. I love the fuel mileage on this vehicle. I have averaged anywhere from 20 to 23 mpg every fill up since i've owned it. I have owned this vehicle for 2 years now. If GM ever was to make a new version of the suburban with the diesel engine, I definately would buy it and still drive this suburban as well.
Critical Review
I believe that it isnt the best car if your looking for good gas mileage. But for a bigger family it works great.

Longevity, durability, reliability
Money I don’t spend on repairs goes towards fuel
I am the second owner of my 1997 GMC Suburban 2500. It’s got the bulletproof 5.7L 350 Vortec under the hood and 4L80e transmission. Just over 540,000 kms on the factory engine, transmission, transfer case, and front/rear diff. The drivetrain on the GMT400 generation Suburban and C/K pickup is indestructible - I own three others and know several people who can say the same. Literally built to outlive whoever’s driving them
Comfortable to drive, fun and reliable, seats 9
Gas mileage
If your looking for something that's gonna go a week on a tank of gas this isn't for you. That being said if your looking for something that will go anywhere, do anything, and never leave you stranded then this is it. Is it full of brand-new modern day electrics? No, but what it lacks there is more then made up for with amazing towing capacity and reliably. Three days after buying I drove it from Arkansas to North Carolina and back pulling a 32ft camper loaded down with friends and supplies. She shrugged it off and acted as If it wasn't there. It seats 9 rather comfortably and delivers surprising ride quality. The major down side to these is the gas Mileage. A completely stock 99 suburban gets around 21 combined mpg, add a lift and tires to that and it drops to around 15 combined mpg. So if you want a vehicle that's good on gas this isn't it but, for any person looking for a reliable daily driver to haul the family around In without a high purchase price. This is the one for you

die hard vehicle, dependable and work horse 5.7!! one of the best trucks i ever owned!!!pleasure to drive. went to replace rear shocks and found no more frame, last 3 feet of frame gone. sad day. i will try to get by with out it but wont be at full happy again.
Heavy-Duty, reliable
Heavy Doors
The vehicle is the year before GMC’s new millennium body style so it is the 90’s one. Interior leather is comfy and strong. Drives good. Pretty big; it is the same size as the Yukon XL which is what replaced it. No major problems. Heavy doors like most or all 90’s GMC trucks+SUVs
Lots of room and lots of power. Great for long tri
Gas mileage not that great. Lets face it its a big
i got this 1999 Gmc Suburban SLT 2wd with 5.7 Liter engine. It has 205,000 miles . i upgrade exhaust system. Dual exhaust with flow master. K&S air Fliter new Spark plugs Ac Delco. Put good gas at Shell or Chevron You get better gas mileage more power. Add a fuel additive every month and change motor oil every 3000 miles and fuel filter Every 6 months. Doing this has been keeping my suburban strong. Towing with dual Exhaust you can fill the difference right away. Maintance is the key to long lasting and lots of years to come. Love my suburban.
Tow up to 10K. Lots of power due to 454 motor.
Computer Anti Theft code problem.
This has been my truck for over 10 years, and i am very satisfied with all it offers. I have rebuilt the truck all around and it drives smooth. You can surely feel the power of that 454ci engine with Vortec. It doesn't get any more comfortable then all around leather heated power seats. Air conditioning blows cold in front, middle and rear. Allows the center passengers to adjust their own. Third row folds down or removes for loading huge items. I have rebuild this truck, but have one issue. The anti-theft computer problem. It appears it is causing the fuel to cut off. I have send it to the Chevy Dealership, and after $1700 in repairs, they failed. It appears i need to take it to the GMC or Cadillac dealer. This is the only issue i have which is causing me problems. Besides that the truck drives like a dream.
