Positive Review
I have owned my side step Sonoma for a little over 6 years now its a 2003 model, It looks great. I have loved it. I've had a few little things to be replaced. Last year my air went out this is a little pricey to have fixed. This year 2015 my radiator started leaking (cheap made they are partially made of plastic and it split) had to be replaced but it was a easy change. Before this it was just routine stuff like oil change, tires, brakes and Battery. I have Never yet I say yet had to replace starter, alternator, water pump or gas pump and have Never had transmission problems. I've had problems with my engine light staying on but it was due to a locked gas cap that I used and still comes on and goes off periodically.
Critical Review
Significant system failures - brake, wheel bearings, electrical, body and frame rust through. All with only very light 'truck' duty, just used as a regular car.

I just bought my Sonoma and it's very much fun to have it , and different ways to modified no high cost, I won't give it back.
Motor
Interior components and doors
Motor is great! Interior components not so great. Very reliable, the truck that keeps going. Vortex v6 A+
The 4.3 vortec V6 doesnt disappoint. One of the best V6 motors you can buy. If mine was 4wd it would be a perfect truck. If a midsize truck is what youre after, id urge you to consider this GM gem
Will serve needs with the big truck cost
Interior space. Owner has to be creative.
I have an SL. Its a 6 cylinder automatic. No frills, manual door locks and windows. Sure its 25 years old, but with less electronics, easy to repair the little things. It runs well and is perfect for those who want to have the convenience of a truck without the big costs
Not unpleasant to drive. Brand new tires, radio w
Engine sounds good. Good on gas.needs interior wor
I think the seal for the oil is leaking. I have a new battery. 2 tone color. Silver and blue. Good farm truck.
New rebuilt engine with 4 year warranty and unlimited milage. All new brake job. New steering box. All new front suspension joints.
Standard transmission, extended cab, 226,000 miles
Plastic is brittle, intake manifold lower is hard.
I've owned a 1999 single cab sonoma with a long bed. I had absolutely no issues with the truck except for routine maintenance and a new clutch. My step-dad gave it to me and for 3 years I drove it. It had 215,000 miles on it. Now my brother in law has it. It has 270,000 and going. The 1994 sonoma is great too and has 226,000 miles on it. It has its quirks but like any other truck. I've had it for 3.5 years now and besides the pcm going out twice and stater replacement was a bit of a pain, it has been a great little truck. I would buy another one if something happened to this one but a 2000s year model sonoma. The standard transmission sold me on the truck plus cruise control for when I'm on the interstate. It can be sluggish but what do expect out of 2.2 liter 4 cylinder. Lol.
Powerful, Easy To Maintain, Comfortable, Friend :)
RUST, RUST, RUST, gas, RUST AND MORE RUST
This truck has been with me for about 80,000 miles. I first picked up when I turned 16 and the thing has been a beauty of a truck since. It's had it's issues, sure as do all cars. But up here in the North, rust treats this thing bad. It needs severe care and TLC to make sure the rust doesn't eat it too hard. The engine often worried me for a while since it's a V6 and I didn't expect to be climbing out of any mud pits anytime soon. I was wrong, it could weave its way out of potholes, mud pits, sand pits, you name it, it's the V6 that could.
