Positive Review

"First American Car in 30 years"

I just leased the 2017 GMC Acadia Denali AWD. I have had it for a month, and loving this new design. The smaller 2017 version is the right size for my family as we occasionally use the third row. Buyers can still opt for the larger body style with the Acadia Limited. GM really has the infoitainment down with a very user friendly combination of buttons and touchscreen. The leather heated/cooled seats are comfortable, and overall this is a really nice near luxury SUV. I looked at the Pilot, Highlander, MDX, XC90 and the combination of size, technology and styling did for me over the competition. Areas of improvement would be greater choice of exterior colors and interior leather colors. Also use of real wood vs veneers, but guessing GM needs to keep separation between GMC and Cadillac.

Critical Review

"Not the Acadia I expect"

Decent vehicle. Drives great and has the amazing GMC quality one should expect. But, it is not an Acadia. An acadia is a mid to large sized SUV such as the 2014 Acadia I previously owned. I wanted to try the new one but it was the wrong move. This vehicle is more of the new Terrain than it is an Acadia. If I wanted a smaller vehicle I would have bought a terrain. I don't quite have the room, money, or need for a Yukon or Yukon XL. There needs to be a happy medium and GMC shouldn't have downsized it. The 2017 GMC Acadia would have been the ideal vehicle for inbetween the Terrain and Acadia but they should have never downsized the vehicle. Luckily, I can go get an 2017 Acadia Limited (like the old one) except it is no longer offered with a Denali package. Great vehicle but GMC went about it all wrong.

Love love love this vehicle.
Cons

Third row seating room

I purchased my 2019 Acadia new in 2019. The v6 delivers plenty of power. The Bose system is excellent. Sunroof and moon roof are a plus. I originally had one as a rental and decided if I ever had to buy a new this would be it. Very satisfied with my Acadia

Front wheel drive

I have owned my 2017 GMC Arcadia since new. The seats are very comfortable. And the ride is very smooth and quiet.. i’m getting 18 miles to the gallon in the city and highway combined much lower than what they say, but I’m not surprised. The front wheel drive only is terrible in the snow and rain. Front wheels lose traction and spin in wet weather on takeoff and believe me I don’t push the gas pedal hard. They just spin and I have brand new tires. That’s basically the worst thing about this car is wet weather and snow handling with front wheel drive only didn’t know it was gonna be this bad.

Has some issues
Pros

Comfort, engine is powerful

Cons

Has problems that should be recalled

We bought a 2019 in 2022 and got a warranty from our Credit Union. This was a great decision, because the shift to park problem had to be fixed and that was covered. Then the thermostat needed to be replaced and that was covered. While the shop was replacing that, they found a leak in the radiator and that had to be replaced. That was covered. The warranty saved us over $3,000. It will cover almost anything and it only cost $2,300. I'd get it! I'm 6'8" and love the Acadia. My wife loves it too.

Value below cost

For a premium SUV, the Denali should be better. Tire noise and Cabin noisy quality is well below the standard of premium SUV. Clearly GMC does not understand what is "Professional Grade". Pay less for a Chevy or pay the same for a higher quality foreign vehicle, but don't wait it on a GMC Acadia.

Great leg room
Pros

Leg room, comfort, power and easy to use features

I tried out several large and medium sized SUVs and this was the only one with GREAT leg room for 4 guys that are 6’5” or taller. It easily fits 7 tall people for shorter trips. Lots of rear luggage space with the 3rd row seats folded down. The seats are very comfortable for long trips as well. All the SLT features are easy to find and use. My whole family has enjoyed driving and using this vehicle.

Has some issues

I bought my mine in 2022 it's a 2019.. that model has issues with the thermostat and electric control module. Not cheap to fix it should be a recall issue bc it is very well none with the dealership I had to take it to to get it fixed and it's on YouTube to show you a quick fix for the time being.
