The Genesis GV80 is the reigning champion of our Best Buy Award for a midsize luxury SUV for its outstanding engines, roomy, luxurious interior, and class-leading warranty. Pricing starts at $58,800.
The Genesis GV80 is still a relative newcomer in a competitive class of midsize luxury SUVs, but it’s a clear class leader as the reigning champ of our Best Buy Award in its segment. It deserves this honor because of its excellent engine choices, luxurious, high-tech interior, and best-in-class warranty, providing the luxury of peace of mind. The GV80 also boasts excellent safety scores, partially thanks to the impressive standard driver assistance tech features. The Genesis GV80 goes toe-to-toe with the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Audi Q7.
The Genesis GV80 gets a few nice updates for 2024. New standard features include a Wi-Fi hot spot, a revised suspension system for improved ride comfort, and updated safety features. The 2024 model also re-introduces the 3.5T Prestige Signature trim as the top trim of the GV80. Additionally, a third row of seats now comes standard on the 3.5T Advanced trim.
The 2024 Genesis GV80 has a starting sticker price of $58,800, with the range-topping GV80 3.5T Prestige Signature kicking off at $82,850. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $4,452 to $6,264 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

Before buying a GV80, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Genesis GV80 resale value is a little below average for the segment.
The Genesis GV80 is powered by a 300-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The more popular engine is a 375-horsepower turbocharged V6. According to third-party testing, the 4-cylinder gets to 60 mph in about 6 seconds, while the V6 hits that mark in closer to 5 seconds.
We love driving the GV80. The standard 4-cylinder engine provides more than enough thrust for daily commuting and more spirited driving. The ride is relaxed and comfortable, especially with the optional Road Preview feature, which uses cameras to read the road ahead and adjust the suspension accordingly.
We’re partial to the more popular turbocharged V6 engine in the GV80 3.5T models. The extra power and torque make a noticeable difference in how this SUV drives, with quicker acceleration and more confident highway passing power.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current collection of midsize luxury SUVs, including this Genesis GV80.
The GV80 returns a 22 combined mpg rating with the 4-cylinder engine, and the V6 gets 20 mpg. Premium fuel is recommended for both. According to EPA estimates, the fuel costs of the 4-cylinder are about $25/month cheaper than the V6. More GV80 fuel economy information is available on the EPA’s website.
The interior of the GV80 is luxurious by anyone’s standards. The design looks sophisticated, and we love the feel of the interior materials. The available quilted Nappa leather is on par with the fanciest SUVs we’ve driven in this class, and the available Ergo Motion driver’s seat adjusts to meet your needs in support and posture.
The second row has 38.7 inches of legroom, which is slightly above average for this segment. We’ve found it plenty roomy. The seat comfort and the smooth ride mean you won’t hear any complaints from back-seat passengers. We love that you can get ventilated second-row seats as an option, which is an uncommon feature.
When we try to climb into the third row of the GV80 3.5T Advanced model, we don’t have much legroom or headroom, but these extra seats are suitable for children. There’s 30.3 inches of legroom back there, which is about average for a luxury SUV this size with an optional third row.
The cargo space in the GV80 is also average for its class. It has 34.9 cubic feet of cargo room in most trims, and if you fold down the back seats, it expands to 84 cubic feet of room.
The Genesis GV80 has a sharp design language that Genesis calls “Athletic Elegance.” It’s a stylish look that sets it apart from its more mainstream rivals. We especially like the dark chrome trim on the Prestige Signature trim.
Excellent engines
With a 300-horsepower base engine and an optional 375-horsepower V6, every GV80 is enjoyable to drive. You can’t go wrong, no matter which engine or trim configuration you choose.
Class-leading warranty
The GV80 brings more peace of mind than the average luxury SUV thanks to its 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. It also gets a 3-year/36,000-mile complimentary maintenance plan.
Optional third row
The GV80 is available with a small third row of seats that can provide occasional, just-in-case seating for seven.
Luxurious Prestige Signature model
The posh Prestige Signature model returns for 2024. The top trim of the GV80 makes the second row more luxurious with power captain’s chairs, a wireless charging pad, and a one-touch Relax Mode, which puts the seats in an optimal posture for comfort.
Highway Driving Assist II
This bundle of driver assistance tech features makes highway driving safer and more relaxed. It includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, and it can even automatically pass on the highway.
14.5-inch HD screen
The premium navigation system in the GV80 boasts a gorgeous 14.5-inch HD screen. It includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM, and four USB ports. We recommend the optional Lexicon 21-speaker sound system to enjoy it to the fullest.
Power for the GV80 2.5T models comes from a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, rated at 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. The more popular turbo V6 in the 3.5T models generates 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The Genesis GV80 is backed by the best warranty in its class. It’s covered by a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Genesis also includes complimentary maintenance for three years of 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
The Genesis GV80 has earned the coveted IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award every year it’s been on the market. This is thanks to favorable crash-test ratings and standard safety features like forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
The 2024 Genesis GV80 is in the middle 26-75% for Cost to Own among all Luxury Mid-size SUV/Crossovers.
