A highly stylized full-size luxury sedan, the Genesis G90 delivers a posh, high-tech interior, solid performance, and a class-leading warranty for thousands less than its European rivals. Pricing starts at $91,050.
Although it’s still the “new kid on the block” among full-size luxury sedans, the Genesis G90 is capable of going toe-to-toe with well-established European competitors like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8. As a matter of fact, it’s tied with the venerable Mercedes-Benz S-Class as our highest-rated full-size luxury car. This current G90’s sumptuous interior is brimming with the latest tech features, soothing its occupants with scents of leather and wrapping them in cocoon-like quietness. Its well-balanced suspension and eager powertrain provide an almost Zen-like driving experience.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of full-size luxury cars, including the Genesis G90.
Because it was redesigned for 2023, and the 2024 G90 introduced standard Wi-Fi and “welcome” lighting, there are no big changes this year..
The 2025 Genesis G90 has a starting sticker price of $91,050, with the range-topping G90 3.5T E-Supercharger kicking off at $101,350. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,457 to $4,034 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.
MSRP | KBB Fair Purchase Price (national avg.) | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
$91,050 | $89,593 | |||
$101,350 | $97,316 |
Among the G90’s rivals, only the Lexus LS sneaks under the G90’s starting sticker price. The Audi A8 is priced about the same, with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7 Series costing more.
Before buying a G90, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Genesis G90 resale value is about average among its key competitors. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
The Genesis G90 is propelled by a 375-horsepower turbocharged V6 engine, with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD). Its range-topping model comes with a 409-hp version of that same engine, enhanced by an electric supercharger.
With confident acceleration, we found the turbo V6 engine satisfying in city and highway driving. The standard AWD system helps keep power delivery smooth and consistent on dry roads as well as wet.
If you must have more thrust available, the boost from the electric supercharger in the upper trim is most apparent low in the rev range. We noticed it gave the G90 more oomph when accelerating from a standstil,l with a brisk zero-to-60 mph time of 5.1 seconds. Moreover, it had the same formidable confidence on the highway as the base engine. A smoother stop/restart engine function is another positive aspect of this supercharged version.
The suspension and steering deliver a luxurious ride without feeling floaty or sloppy, and the whole car was an absolute pleasure to drive in our testing. In addition to the engine upgrade, the E-Supercharger trim improves comfort and handling with a multi-chamber air suspension system and 4-wheel steering. We especially appreciate the 4-wheel steering when negotiating tight spaces in a public parking garage.
Fuel Economy
The G90 is rated for 21 mpg in mixed city/highway driving with the standard powertrain. Upgrading to the E-Supercharger trim comes with an almost negligible fuel economy penalty: 20 combined mpg, according to the EPA. The G90’s fuel economy is similar to that of the Lexus LS (with AWD) but falls just a bit short of the most efficient variants of its German rivals. Genesis recommends premium gas for both powertrains.
The luxurious interior of the Genesis G90 has the material quality, expert craftsmanship and attention to detail to more than justify its price. Just a few of its standard luxury features include comfy Nappa leather seating (massaging in front), matte-finish wood trim, head-up display, and powered rear sunshades.
We discovered that riding in the back seat of the G90 is akin to flying first class. The E-Supercharger model has even fancier back seats with power reclining and massaging functions, plus a center console with a wireless charging pad and a touchscreen to control the comfort settings.
The G90 has 37.8 inches of rear legroom, which we found sufficiently roomy and roughly the same as the Lexus LS. However, the G90 has notably less legroom here than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8, which all exceed 43 inches.
The G90’s trunk provides 12 cubic feet of space, which probably satisfies the requirements of the average G90 driver. However, it pales against the 19.1 cubic feet of the 7 Series.
The Genesis G90 has a striking exterior design that doesn’t fade into the crowd. While we appreciate the sophisticated subtlety of styling displayed by some rivals, we also enjoy the standout styling of the G90.
E-Supercharger
The electric supercharger on the G90’s upper trim has us smitten. It’s a welcome addition to the twin-turbo V6, boosting performance by 34 horsepower and 14 lb-ft of torque over the standard twin-turbo with only a slight penalty in fuel economy.
Virtual Venues Live
This enhanced audio system has a virtual 3D surround-sound function optimized for different types of music. It has settings like Boston Symphony Hall and Bang & Olufsen Home, replicating the sound quality of real-life venues to make the most out of the 26-speaker sound system. Whether listening to classic rock, outlaw country, or current pop, we found the reproduction astounding.
Luxurious seating
The G90’s front seats are supremely comfortable, but we argue the rear seats are even better. Nappa leather seating is standard, and the upper trim adds heated, ventilated, massaging, and reclining rear seats — plus a rear center console with touchscreen controls and a wireless charging pad.
Mood Curator
This standard G90 feature allows passengers to set the cabin’s mood with themes like Vitality, Delight, Care, and Comfort. It enables integrated control of ambient lighting, sound, fragrance, seat massagers, and power sunshades to create distinct ambient environments.
Genesis Digital Key 2
This feature turns an iPhone, Apple Watch, or Samsung smartphone into a key through Apple Wallet and Samsung Pass. We found it wonderfully convenient that in addition to locking, unlocking and starting the G90, this system recognizes the driver and loads customized vehicle preferences accordingly.
Highway Driving Assist 2
This standard partially autonomous driving system makes highway driving safer and more relaxed by combining features like adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and road sign recognition. It only operates under certain conditions and with driver oversight. We’ve found it to be among the best such systems available.
The Genesis G90 has a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine rated at 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, which is more than the Audi A8. Output goes to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The E-Supercharger trim of the G90 adds an electric supercharger and a mild hybrid system, improving performance with 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque for a tradeoff of just one less mile per gallon.
Class-Best Warranty
The Genesis G90 is backed by the best warranty in its class. It has a 5-year/60,000-mile basic limited warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. It also has a 3-year/36,000-mile complimentary maintenance plan.
Safety
The government hasn’t crash-tested the Genesis G90. However, it earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) coveted Top Safety Pick+ award thanks to its favorable crash test ratings and a long list of standard safety features, such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and more.
