Positive Review
Took delivery about a week and a half ago. This is my fourth genesis, 2012/2015/2018 g80 sport htrac, The new one 2021 g80,3.5 twin turbo v6,AWD,prestige. I think that the change is more revolutionary than evolutionary. This thing is a pleasure to drive. Highly recommend. Huge value for dollar spent. The issue is the dealerships. Genesis is a luxury car being sold in not so luxury environment.
Critical Review
First let me say this is my 3d G80 and the first of the new design. The new G 80 looks great but is a giant step backwards in terms of build quality. In an attempt to lighten up the car they have gone to a 4 cylinder engine and lots of cheap plastic parts. The car feels more like a AWD Sonata than my prior G80. Build is disappointing as many interior plastic parts don't fit together well, the engine is power4ful but shakes and shudders like a tractor, gets worse gas mileage then my prior 3.8L G80 and the emergency braking system just plain doesn't work. The lane control feature is erratic and the car feels unsafe to drive when it is engaged. The worst part is that the factory support team is unable to properly support the vehicle due to the incompetence of ALL the dealer service teams and the manufacturer has refused to fix issues claiming everything is "normal". REALLY!!!! They are doing this as a way to work around the lemon law in my state. This has a been a very stressful experience and I warn anyone considering purchasing a G80 that if it can happen to me as a 3d time loyal Genesis customer it can happen to you.

you have to drive it!
none
I'm an old guy and I've owned the big sedans from most manufacturers, my last car being a Lexus ES. This Genesis is the most amazing car I've ever owned. I've got the 2.5 Prestige RWD. Incredible power if needed but an absolute quiet, smooth driver. 9 hours on the road and it is extremely comfortable, not to mention that every couple of hours it massages the driver! The interior is all luxury, rivaling the best of the best. The sound system is superb!
Styling, materials, powertrain, stereo
no more soft-touch closing doors
Absolutely LOVE this car (2024 3.5t Sport Prestige). The ride, acceleration, handling, braking are all phenomenal. The interior is exquisite and looks like it belongs in a $100k+ car, the 21-speaker sound system, along with all of the sound-deadening measures, make it a rolling concert hall. I'm constantly getting compliments, as well as questions about it and how much I enjoy it. The only complaint that I have is that my 2021 G80 had rear door window shades as well as soft touch closing doors, which were deleted for 2024. I would GLADLY trade the 4-wheel steering to get those 2 features back, as the 4-wheel steering does very little for me compared to those 2 features !! But other than that, this vehicle is such a big bang-for-the-buck compared to it's rivals, that it's a shame more people aren't aware of its existence ....
Looks
Steering wheel and instrument panel.
There are only 2 things I’d change on this great car. 1 - the two spoke steering wheel is ugly. Reminds me of my grandfathers tanks. 2 - at this price point the gauge cluster MUST be fully digital on the advanced package.
good gas mileage rides and handles great
brief delay while accelerating hard
Highly recommend the vehicle. I get so many compliments on the looks and very few people have the vehicle so it really stands out.
i spend more than $ 65000.00 and just find out no wireless charging my phone i spend more than $ 65000.00 and just find out no wireless charging my phone
Looks sharp and built to last.
Genesis needs to develop its own dealer network.
I recently purchased a Genesis G80, 2022. The styling separates it itself from the rest of the same looking sedans in the market. In addition to the superb styling it rides smoothly and handles well. I have owned it for three months and have not had any mechanical issues. Unlike the BMW 5 which I have owned in the past this vehicles back seat is spacious. The Genesis G 80 provides quality and comfort at a reasonable price.
Great acceleration, cabin serenity.
Bad owners manual
This car is an unbelievable value. I have a 3.5L Twin Turbo with AWD and the Prestige package (I highly recommend the Prestige package due to the Heads Up display and several other luxury options included). The owners manual leaves a lot to be desired. It is hard to find explanations of the numerous features. For example, I have two buttons, cryptically labeled, on the overhead panel where the dome light and sunroof controls reside. I cannot find the difference between the two buttons in the owners manual. Both light the dome light but I cannot figure out why there are two buttons for the light. That is just an example - the manual must have been translated from Korean, and poorly at that. Ride is smooth as silk, with windows closed a boom box next to my car is silent, acceleration is remarkable for a car as heavy as this. Gas mileage is terrible though. Around town, I get 16 mpg with a light foot. On the road, I get around 19 mpg. Wondering if there is something wrong with my fuel delivery system. Have not asked Genesis for valet pickup and drop-off of my car for service but based on comments in the G80 blog, dealers are reluctant to deliver on the promised service, not to mention they say loaner cars are not available.
Elegant looks
Bad build quality, rough engine poor, poor ride
