The 2024 Genesis Electrified GV70 is a gorgeous, sumptuous, all-electric compact luxury SUV with a maximum range of 236 miles. Pricing starts at $67,800.
Let’s come right out and say that we really like the GV70 so much that we’ve named it a Best Buy among luxury compact SUVs two years in a row. So this all-electric version comes from an excellent starting point.
Then, it gets better by packing a lot of power and a comprehensive amount of standard equipment that cossets and protects. Genesis really has a winner here. There are other electric SUVs that can go further on a single battery charge, but as a complete package, we have no qualms recommending this.
The gasoline-powered Genesis GV70 is reviewed separately.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of electric luxury SUVs, including the Electrified GV70.
There are no major changes this year. The Electrified GV70 was all-new last year and derived from the gas-powered GV70, which debuted the previous year.
The 2024 Genesis Electrified GV70 has a starting sticker price of $67,800.

For some pricing context, the Lexus RZ 450e starts at around $60K, the Audi Q4 e-tron at $55.2K for a dual-motor version, the Tesla Model Y at $50.5K, and a dual-motor Cadillac Lyriq begins at $62K. The other all-electric Genesis compact SUV, the GV60, is priced from $60.5K.

The Electrified GV70’s two electric motors combine to make a considerable 429 horsepower. However, there’s a button in the lower arc of the steering wheel marked “Boost.” Pressing it pushes output to 483 horsepower for 10-second bursts (assuming sufficient energy in the battery). It’ll zip from a standstill to 60 mph in around four seconds.
Even without the boost, the Electrified GV70 has plenty of thrust, which we can attest is more than quick enough for most buyers’ requirements. It does so comfortably more than the Lexus RZ’s 308 horsepower or the dual-motor Audi Q4 e-tron’s 295. Standard all-wheel drive creates maximum traction.
Push the Drive Mode button to engage the Sport setting. There is a sharpening of responses to the steering and accelerator pedal, and the power-adjustable driver’s seat adjusts its bolstering automatically. It holds the driver more firmly in place, anticipating some spirited cornering.
Curves are something we’ve found the 2024 Electrified GV70 can do perfectly well. It’s no low-slung sport machine, but a standard adaptive suspension — that also reads the road ahead to provide the optimum settings from moment to moment — achieves a wonderful balance of comfort and control, favoring comfort by the right amount.
The I-pedal function means one-pedal driving, a specialty with EVs. Click up the left shift paddle beneath the steering wheel to activate, then speed up, slow down, or even come to a complete stop just by varying the amount of pressure on the accelerator pedal. Just hit the brakes if a more forceful stop is necessary.
The maximum range of the Electrified GV70 is 236 miles. That’s not bad, but not great. For example, the Lexus RZ 450e can run for 220 miles. However, there are plenty of rivals that can go on for longer: the Audi Q4 e-tron (265 miles), Tesla Model Y (330 miles), Cadillac Lyriq (314 miles) and the smaller Genesis GV60 (248 miles).
A DC fast charger working at 800 volts (or 250 kilowatt-hours) can take the battery from 10% to 80% capacity in 18 minutes. Looking at it another way, that’s 64 miles in five minutes, which is quick. A home charger working with 240 volts can accomplish a full charge in about seven hours.
From the raised driving position, outward vision is fine. And it’s enhanced with standard blind-spot monitoring. The cabin of the Electrified GV70 is also suitably quiet for a luxury compact SUV, adorned with pleasant materials and exhibiting class-appropriate build quality.
Although this isn’t the most affordable contender in its class, the level of standard equipment is high, including features such as heated and ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. The top Prestige trim enjoys finer Nappa leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and manual shades for the rear side windows.
Electrification of the GV70 has taken a small bite out of the rear legroom. The combustion model has 37.2 inches; this one has 36.6 (an inch less than the Lexus RZ). It can get a little tight back there if there are tall people up front.
There’s a slight reduction in cargo space as well, although the Electrified GV70 still has a decent 28.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats, or 56.5 when folded. For comparison, the Lexus RZ enjoys 34.9/55.6 cubic feet.
One more little thing. Drivers will probably get used to it quite quickly, but the controllers for the infotainment system and the gear selector are circular, about the same size, and next to each other in the center console. During our test drive, we reached for the wrong one a couple of times while maneuvering.
Only a few details distinguish the 2024 Electrified GV70 from its gasoline-powered stablemate. No exhaust pipes, obviously. The grille is kind of inverted, so the diagonal lines of the mesh are recessed rather than the diamond-shaped spaces between them. Hidden in this grille is a front-mounted charge port, which we’ve found to be more convenient than locating it on one side.
14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen
Both 2024 Electrified GV70 range trims have this generously-sized touchscreen with super-crisp graphics and an intuitive operation. The system also includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, navigation, and wireless charging.
Ergo Motion driver’s seat
After a time spent “in the saddle,” this standard feature will massage the lower back automatically.
Remote Smart Parking
This standard feature allows drivers to ease the Electrified GV70 into or out of a parking space while standing outside and using buttons on the key fob.
V2L
A standard vehicle-to-load (V2L) function means the Electrified GV70 can send battery power to another appliance, like a laptop computer or even another EV.
Digital instrument cluster
A 12.3-inch driver information display and a head-up display are standard in the higher Prestige trim.
Lexicon surround-sound system
Lexicon makes highly respected equipment found in most top-flight recording studios. This 15-speaker, 1,050-watt system should delight the most persnickety audiophiles and is one excellent reason to stretch to the Prestige trim.
A 77 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery is in both versions of the Electrified GV70. This number indicates how much electricity a battery can store — an adequate amount, in this case. As a bit of background, the Lexus RZ goes with 71.4 kWh, the Audi Q4 e-tron with 82 kWh, and the Lyriq shows partly why it has such great range with 102 kWh.
The new-vehicle warranty from Genesis lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever happens first. The powertrain and battery are both covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. These terms are some of the best in the automotive industry.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the Electrified GV70 its Top Safety Pick+, the institute’s highest accolade.
Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, junction turning assistance, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Highway Driving Assist II — which provides steering assistance to keep the vehicle centered in its lane and is intelligent enough to edge over a little if someone in the next lane gets too close.
