A fully electric subcompact luxury SUV, the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 provides an upscale cabin, loads of advanced tech, and 236 miles of range. Pricing starts at $68,400.
As huge fans of the gasoline-fueled GV70, our Best Luxury Compact SUV of 2025, the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 found us easy to win over. And, by the way, what’s not to like? Packing 483 horsepower, it’s quick, and provides better-than-average cargo room, standard all-wheel drive (AWD), and an excellent infotainment interface commanded by a 14.5-inch touchscreen. Moreover, it can charge from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes on a DC fast charger. Maximum range is an estimated 236 miles.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of electric luxury SUVs, including the Electrified GV70.
The gasoline-powered Genesis GV70 is reviewed separately.
Genesis chose not to tinker much with its 2025 Electrified GV70; however, wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay are now standard.
The 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 has a starting sticker price of $68,400.

Genesis includes three years of free charging using the Electrify America network. Because Genesis builds it in the United States, the Electrified GV70 may qualify for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500.
For some pricing context, the Lexus RZ 450e starts at around $66,000, the Audi Q4 e-tron is close to $56,000 for a dual-motor version, the Tesla Model Y hovers near $51,000, and a dual-motor Cadillac Lyriq begins about $60,000. The other all-electric Genesis compact SUV, the GV60, is priced from $61,000.
Before buying a new Genesis Electrified GV70 luxury electric SUV, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should be paying. The Electrified GV70 hasn’t retained its value as well as the rivals mentioned above, or even as well as its GV60 stablemate. Recouping more of the purchase price when selling or trading in means more money to put down on your next vehicle.
In everyday driving, we found the Electrified GV70 pleasant and engaging. For a change of pace, push the Drive Mode button to engage the Sport setting. There is a sharpening of responses to the steering and accelerator pedal, and the power-adjustable driver’s seat adjusts its bolstering automatically. It holds the driver more firmly in place, anticipating some spirited cornering.
Curves are something we’ve found the 2024 Electrified GV70 can handle perfectly well. It’s no low-slung sport machine, but the standard adaptive suspension, which also reads the road ahead to provide the optimum settings from moment to moment, achieves a wonderful balance of comfort and control, favoring comfort by an ideal amount.
The I-pedal function means one-pedal driving, a specialty of many EVs. To activate it, click up the left shift paddle beneath the steering wheel, then speed up, slow down, or even come to a full stop by varying the amount of pressure on the accelerator pedal. If a more forceful stop is necessary, simply hit the brakes.
Range and Charging
The maximum range of the Electrified GV70 is 236 miles. That’s not bad, but not great. For example, the Lexus RZ 450e can run for 220 miles. However, there are plenty of rivals that can go on for longer: the Audi Q4 e-tron (265 miles), Tesla Model Y (330 miles), Cadillac Lyriq (314 miles), and the smaller Genesis GV60 (248 miles).
A DC fast charger working at 800 volts (or 250 kilowatt-hours) can take the battery from 10% to 80% capacity in 18 minutes. Looking at it another way, that’s 64 miles in five minutes, which is quick. A home charger working with 240 volts can accomplish a full charge in about seven hours.
Outward vision is fine from the raised driving position, and it’s further enhanced with standard blind-spot monitoring. The Electrified GV70’s cabin is also appropriately quiet for a luxury compact SUV, brimming with upmarket materials and exhibiting class-appropriate craftsmanship.
Although this isn’t the most affordable contender in its class, the level of standard equipment is enticingly high, including features like heated and ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. The top Prestige trim enjoys finer Nappa leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and manual shades for the rear side windows.
Electrification of the GV70 takes a small bite out of the rear legroom. The combustion model has 37.2 inches; this one has 36.6 (an inch less than the Lexus RZ). It can get a little tight back there with tall people extended up front.
There’s also a slight reduction in cargo space, although the Electrified GV70 still has a decent 28.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats, or 56.5 when folded. For comparison, the Lexus RZ enjoys 34.9/55.6 cubic feet.
One more little thing. Although drivers will probably become accustomed to it quite quickly, the infotainment system and gear selector controllers are circular, similar in size, and adjacent to one another on the center console. During our test drive, we reached for the wrong one more than once.
Only a few details distinguish the Electrified GV70 from its gasoline-powered stablemate. No exhaust pipes, obviously. Also, the grille is kind of inverted, so the diagonal lines of the mesh are recessed rather than the diamond-shaped spaces between them. Hidden in this grille is a front-mounted charge port, which we’ve found to be more convenient than when located on one side or the other.
14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen
Both Electrified GV70 range trims have this generously sized touchscreen with super-crisp graphics and an intuitive operation. The system also includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, navigation, and wireless charging.
Ergo Motion driver’s seat
After some time “in the saddle,” this standard feature will massage the lower back automatically. Purrrrrfect.
Remote Smart Parking
This standard feature allows drivers to ease the Electrified GV70 into or out of a parking space while standing outside and using buttons on the key fob. We found it particularly handy in the narrow confines of a public parking garage.
V2L
A standard vehicle-to-load (V2L) function means the Electrified GV70 can send battery power to another appliance, like a laptop computer or even another electric vehicle (EV).
Digital instrument cluster
The higher Prestige trim includes a 12.3-inch driver information display and a head-up display (HUD). We like how a slight shift of the eye to the HUD is sufficient to gather whatever readout is needed.
Lexicon surround-sound system
Lexicon makes highly respected equipment that is found in most top-flight recording studios. This 15-speaker, 1,050-watt system delighted the most persnickety audiophiles among our editors and is an excellent reason to stretch to the Prestige trim.
The Electrified GV70’s two electric motors combine to make a considerable 429 hp. However, there’s a button in the lower arc of the steering wheel marked “Boost.” Pressing it pushes output to 483 hp for 10-second bursts (assuming sufficient energy in the battery). It’ll zip from a standstill to 60 mph in around four seconds.
Even without the boost, the Electrified GV70 has plenty of thrust, which we can attest is more than quick enough for most buyers’ requirements. Its pony count is notably more than the Lexus RZ’s 308 hp or the dual-motor Audi Q4 e-tron’s 295. Standard all-wheel drive creates maximum traction.
Both versions of the Electrified GV70 have a 77-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery. This number indicates how much electricity a battery can store — an adequate amount, in this case. As a bit of background, the Lexus RZ has 71.4 kWh, the Audi Q4 e-tron has 82 kWh, and the Lyriq has 102 kWh, showing a glimpse of why it has such a far-reaching range.
Top-Notch Warranty
The new-vehicle warranty from Genesis lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever happens first. The powertrain and battery are both covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. These terms are some of the best in the automotive industry.
Safety Ratings
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the Electrified GV70 its Top Safety Pick+, the institute’s highest accolade. Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, junction turning assistance, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Highway Driving Assist II — which provides steering assistance to keep the vehicle centered in its lane and is intelligent enough to edge over a little if someone in the next lane gets too close.
