"Great Van for Value"

We have owned 2 Toyota Sienna vans back to back over last 13 years. We enjoyed them but needed a smaller foot print van with seating for 7 to move overseas. We bought an XLT with basically all the upgrades new this summer for under $26k! My Sienna was loaded new in 2006 and it was $42k. Hence a huge price difference, but there are a few trades. Yes, its a smaller van and even loaded it doesn't have all the same "luxury" a loaded Sienna has....but I will admit that nearly every Sienna power seat folding seat and electric sliding door in the van failed beyond repair at the 7 year mark, so I wasn't ready to go thru that again and the Transit being manual was fine with me this time!! We drive it loaded with our five kids and it has fine acceleration and handles like a sedan not a van actually. It is space limited for bags and stuff when all 7 seats are full, but we threw a Yakima box on top for trips and baggage...no problem. Gas economy is good, but you will find yourself at the pump on trips more often because it has a smaller gas tank, not bad MPG. The big back gate door is a bit of effort to close, so you may consider the clam shell rear door version. But the big door is nice unloading in the rain, big canopy effect. The panoramic sunroof is huge and the family loves it. Voice commanded climate system is nice. But Nav system isn't compatible with European ford maps (all fords have this issue). Stateside XM real time WX radar imaging is very cool! It showed us a huge storm front approaching before we got to it and we avoided bad weather in hwy. Lastly, getting into back seat is a bit cumbersome to fold seat each time for little guys, but the full folding flat cargo space with high ceiling is awesome to load stuff into it to haul around!!! Bottom line....for under $30k loaded "un-mini van" that drives like a sedan you cant beat it!

"Own 16 Fords... Never AGAIN"

Just over 70,000, less then 2 years old and Ford wants over $8,000.00 to replace the transmission. My co. currently 30 plus vehicles and 16 are Ford vans and trucks. Was told Ford Customer Care would take care of me, completely wrong. Called 6 different days. Each day I was told I would receive a call within 24 hours. That never happened. Made final attempt today and was told "we have no program to offer to assist you with your problem." Purchased my 2020 Raptor 11 months ago. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD.

Transmission! 👎
Pros

I liked the size of it, decent gas mileage

Cons

Transmission, throttle body, uncomfortable seats, cheaply made

The transmission had issues at 36,000 miles. Ford would only do an overhaul, which means to pull out some pieces and replace them. This, despite the fact that transmissions are an issue in this make and model. Then, mercifully, it started clunking and lurching at 57,000 miles, just under the 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty gave out. Ford rebuilt it under warranty and it’s still not right. I’ll never buy another Ford, nor will any of my family or friends who‘ve watched this unfold.

Awesome Vehicle
Pros

It's perfect in every way!

Cons

I can't say anything negative about this vehicle

I absolutely love my 2019 Transit Connect XLT because it's great on gas mileage and it's so versatile! It's a Mini Van so I can haul big items for our home with no problem! If I put the seats it will seat a total of 6 people (including the driver) also it has Bluetooth Technology which is amazing! It has a backup camera, sensors that will let you know if you're too close to a moving vehicle (which will not alert you but applies the brakes to slow you down) so that you can avoid an accident! The backup sensors help keep your bumper from getting messed up, as well

These suck really bad!
Cons

A lot. refer to my review.

The 2016 Ford Transit Connect has ruined my view of Ford as an auto manufacturer. I have always had good luck with Ford and thus drove them almost exclusively. That is until I started driving the 2016 Ford Transit Connect with the 2.5L engine. I dont know where to start so I will just list all the issues I have with this thing. There are a lot. Good- -Comfortable in the front seats -Average MPG for fuel Bad- -Turns like a tank -Towing capacity sucks. We actually ruined a set of tires towing with this at the rated capacity. -Washer fluid capacity is .8 gallons. Washer fluid only comes in 1 gallon containers. I include this only to show the amount of thought that was put into this vehicle. -I have to order wipers (special clips) and air filters (super small) online because no one in my city carries them. -You need to remove the entire air intake just to access the battery. Replacing the battery has gone beyond simple replacement and into removing multiple parts, lines, and other obstructions in order to do simple repairs. -Rear seats are not adjustable or removable. They fold flat but are very thick and take up a lot of your cargo room.

Camper Van

I bought my van in 2016. I was concerned that it would not accelerate with two or three canoes on a roof rack in the mountains. I have had no problems. I converted my passenger transit connect xlt into a camper and it has done very well. I wish the gas mileage was a bit better, but it is one of the best gasoline engine vans out on the market for gas mileage. In addition, I love the two manual side doors, and the manual back hatch. The hatch has served as a rain shelter when I have cooked, hung out in a chair, changed my clothes after a day on a white water river. I have a wrap around screen that I attach around the hatch and the two manual side doors. These have worked wonderfully on hot nights in North Carolina. The seats are a bit stiff, but with a little foam seat aid from a big box store does the trick . I have driven my van across North America five times, and spend up to 90 nights a year camping in my van. This has been the best camper van. I am hoping that I get many more years off of my van.

The Best Vehicle I ever Owned!
Pros

Bluetooth technology

Cons

I can't put a ball and hitch on it

I absolutely love my 2019 Ford Transit Connect XLT so much! It's reliable, great on gas mileage and I love how versatile it is! It's big enough for hauling big items like from Lowe's or Home Depot and that's very important when you own a home! It's better than a pickup truck because everything fits inside so if the weather is raining or snowing I don't have to worry about anything that I'm hauling won't get ruined by the weather!! If I wanted to I can put an air mattress inside of it and take it on a camping trip! How cool is that?

Unbeatable Work Vehicle
Pros

Excellent Fuel Economy

Cons

Isn’t Gonna Win A Race

This vehicle has amazing functionality and I average better than advertised fuel economy both in city driving and on highway. The seats are very comfortable and everything is in the proper location. The Transit Connect drives like a car but stores so many work tools with tremendous amounts of cargo space. This is a very well thought out vehicle. I test drove both the Ram Promaster City and Nissan NV200 before driving the Transit Connect. It easily drove the best and was the most comfy.

Needs more power
Pros

Good MPG, Cargo capacity

Cons

Week engine, Dash rattling

Like this van overall with a few exceptions. First this vehicle needs at least the 2.5 as an option to non commercial users. The 2.0L is woefully underpowered for a vehicle of this weight. Load this to max GVWR or tow a 2000 trailer? Good luck with that! Now the vehicle has developed a very annoying and noticeable rattle around the instrument cluster. Gas mileage is nice but I’d sacrifice a little MPG for more power
