Positive Review
Overall I like the truck and drive it everyday mostly as transportation. I don't haul heavy loads or tow anything. My biggest complaint is it is horrible in rain and snow, sometimes scarey in 2WD. The back end is so light that it doesn't take much to spin when cornering.
Critical Review
Purchased my 98 Ranger as the 2nd owner 2001, it has been a very reliable truck. Maintained as manufacturer recommended and few repairs required. Recently replaced tires, alternator and new battery. There are some minor body issues and the windshield is cracked. I would recommend a Ranger anytime, good light pickup and I would definitely buy another if it was available.

Dad owned it, now I do (2nd) owner. He kept up the maintenance till about three years ago. I've taken over. Has not needed any major repairs. 135000 miles and I love it. Safe and easy to drive and with the high/ low 4x4 I feel even safer.
Nice shape and size. 4wd ave21mpg
Paint starting to fade on hood
Looks and drives great. Fun to drive. Has plenty of power. Heater and air-conditioning works great. Paint looks good but could be freshened up on the hood. Has good tires.
Runs good low mileage
Got a few dents and dings
Got a couple dents and dings needs an alternator and two front tires. It’s a 4x4. The passenger door handle is broke. The paint sucks.
Runs great, very reliable, and looks great
Gas mileage is not good, paint peels
I purchased my Ranger used with only 1,800 miles on it in 2000. I still have it now 22 years later. I have had nothing major happen. My girl is about to hit 300,000 miles. Yes, she may need a new paint job, but I wouldn't trade her for anything.
Great truck for running around town. Great for quick rides in the mountains. Fun truck to fix up. Perfect size for parking in smaller parking spots. Love how reliable it is. Just needs basic maintenance.
Bright Red xlt 4x4 off road pkg, with about every option, catback stainless muffler, e85 flex fuel, k&n filter, stainless nerf bars, ARE cover, efan, towing pkg, RV tow hooks and lights.
Inspected at 100k miles and they found no repairs necessary. Brakes began to shake a month or so ago, and all four were repaired. 4-liter 6 cyl. Previous owner installed chrome tips and mild rumple mufflers.
Useful, good on gas
Underpowered, drivetrain issues
We have had two rangers in our house hold. Both have been very reliable. When something did wearout, break or go wrong it was simple to work on.
