Positive Review

"Better MPG than original window sticker."

No frills were originally installed on this truck - no A/C, no power windows/doors/seats and no cruise control. The seats are built lower than they should be but overall the truck is very comfortable. New tranny & clutch @ 285,000 miles. I *average* 25mpg & can get up to 30mpg highway. Very few rust spots despite 15 years living near salt air.

VS

Critical Review

"I'll trust it almost anywhere."

I bought it used, I'm the third owner. The interior could be better but its all holding together. The seat has some burns in it along with a small cut in the side. Shifts good its a little hard into second though. The engine runs very good. Never been thrashed on. New radio. The a\c doesn't work but the heater will drive you out. Steerings great. The biggest problem with it was the thermostat, that's been replaced.

256K miles and still going strong
Pros

Reliable

Cons

100 Hp

Bought new in 1994 for under $11K. 2.3L 4 cyl engine with a manual transmission. A/C and AM/FM radio were the only amenities. Has just over 256K miles on it. Clutch was changed at 213K miles. Mechanic said it was the longest lasting original clutch they had ever seen. Previous shop record was 169K. I've replaced AC lines, front brake pads and rotors, rear brake drums, shocks, and an alternator. I've never touched one thing on the engine other than the scheduled timing belt service every 80K miles. Easily the most reliable small truck every made.

I bought a 1994 Ford ranger 19yr ago and it has 234,000 miles and still runs great. I would not give my little black baby up for anything.

Good truck . If it’s a 4 cylinder. Low on power high in reliability. Get timing’ belt changed at 100k
