Positive Review
I was looking to replace my Lexus ES 330 and wanted something that gave me the ride and comfort of the ES, plus the flexibility of a SUV. Since we are the proud owners of a pair of schnauzers, and took them everywhere with us, the capacity both in width and length needed to accomodate our large portable crate. We bought our 2007 AWD in March of 2007 and have been delighted with its performance and dependability. The tire wear is superrb, and never had to do anything except routine maintenance. The car has a great feel of the road, excellent acceleration, and excellent sight lines. Very stable under any weather conditions, from ice to snow to normal driving. The AWD is everything my previous Subaru's were and much more. Leather seating on all seats, fold down rear seats, tie downs, outlets and ample beverage holders. We tried out 20-30 models of cars and SUV's and few could compare. GM cars were a disaster of bad ergonomics and performance. The dealer gave us a great break in price for a completely loaded model- there isn't anything it does not have! And- everything works flawlessly. Ford knocked off $7000 from the MSRP, then our dealer gave us $2000 in dealer incentives- and we got 0% financing. The dealer also did not charge for the DVD player, since it was not on our list when we ordered the car. We get about 19mpg local driving and 26-28mpg interstate. When our neighbors and co-workers were stuck with gas shortages; we just smiled and kept on driving.
Critical Review
Very sad about this car. The transmission needs replaced at 130000 a cost of $6000! It has a special transmission called CVT and is VERY expensive to replace. I was expecting to drive the car another 5 years. Now the shock is not the transmission died at 130000, that is ok, but I expected a replacement cost around 2000. My mechanic said if if was any other car the cost would have been only 2000 vs 6000. I you buy this car get warranty, I had one but it expired 6 months before transmission died.

reliable, AWD, trustworthy make,
no longer made
I purchased this car in 2008. I didn't plan on keeping this for so long but this car has been the best car for me, reelable, great in the snow in winter and I love the AWD! I was able to hand it down to my daughter and she drove it for 3 of those 17 years. Sad to have to retire it due to catalytic convertor malfunction.
We had our 2006 for 17 years and 217,000 miles. Fixed AC and an engine mount during that time. Otherwise trouble free. Comfortable, spacious, great for hauling things including two kids to college and other moves, reliable, great in all weather including a blizzard years ago. Loved this car.
Fun to drive, plenty of power, very smooth.
no longer being built
The only problem I have with the vehicle is that Ford is no longer making them. I've had mine for almost 10 yrs. No problems, runs like a cat and I can leave a lot of these electric or smaller cars in the dust with plenty power to spare. Every time I drive it in for service (which is very rare) I almost get attacked by sales people wanting to know if I want to trade it in or sell it out right!
Fun for the family
I wish everyone had their own cup holder
This vehicle runs good very smooth radio CD player work TC is a plus when needed the 3rd row seat makes everyone very comfortable
Plenty of room.
Rear view mirror on right side needs replacing.
Comfortable 4 door van. 2 of of the doors are sliding side doors. Back seats fold down to give ample cargo space. Seats up provide for 6 passengers comfortably.. Gold tone color. Minor scratches on one side. Has been been well maintained. Has DVD capabilities for rear seats entertainment on long haul!
loved this car for 12 years - purchased when off 3-year lease kept in good condition and has been very reliable Ford Corp. - please make a similar one in the near furture with some new styling
Super Spacious, Comfortable, Third Row
Inconvenient to work on,unreliable at higher miles
I bought my 2005 Ford Freestyle SE for $3500 with 151,000 miles. It ran fine the first few thousand miles, but had to have spark plugs replaced, since that, the intake manifold was melted and replaced, and melted again. The car has run very rough ever since. But before the many mechanical issues, the car ran great and was very reliable.
This car has been a versatile workhorse for my family for 16 years. Not very pretty but pretty reliable and doggone spacious.
