Positive Review
I bought my Focus new from the dealership and feel I got a great deal for my money. They had at the time a 4 thousand dollar rebate and I got into it at a low rate due to my excellent credit history. This car provides me reliable transportation to and from work plus saves me on gas when I take trips. This car does good on 3 to 4 hundred mile trips also and has a great ride. I would buy another when this one wears out. I wanted a Toyota or a Honda more but you would never make up the difference in the amount of money between the Focus or either other in the long run. A car is a must have in our lives and they all wear out and lose money as they age. You cant go wrong with the Focus if you get into it with good rebates. One report I read stated it was a consumer best buy for the 2005 model I got. I heard the early Focus cars were trouble but this has yet to show it ugly side to me. The only trouble I have had is sometimes the hatchback does not latch on first try closing but always does when you push it back down. This is a rare occurance and not enough trouble to me to take to the dealer. I have so far put about 55 thousand trouble free mile on it. I am 50 years old and have owned a lot of vehicles in my life and used to work on vehicles for a living so I can say with my experience this is a good dependable car. As with all vehicles I have ever owned I can say the life of any car or truck is changing the oil in the motor every 3000 to 3500 miles regularly.
Critical Review
Don't believe me simply Google the following phrase. Ford Focus 2.0 SPI valve seat problem And watch the hits roll in. I purchased this car under the guise that it was reliable under all of the review sites. Purchased it @ 97000 three oil changes and 20k later it gives me a check engine light. So I take it to auto-zone their diagnostic shows a #4 cylinder misfire, so I buy plugs and wires figuring it's time for a tune up. On the way home from auto-zone a 14 block trip "residential streets" the valve seat drops effectively smashing the piston and cracking the head. The 8th vin digit indicates engine type for a Focus if that digit is the letter P "do not buy it" unless the dealer or seller has documented proof that the valve seats have been changed out with the improved design valve seats. No matter how much you baby a stock vin P Focus it will leave you with a white cloud of antifreeze mixed with engine oil in the block. Ford should have recalled this disaster that has affected thousands of drivers and growing daily. According to other disgruntled owners of this engine type expect it to happen any time after 78k. Better yet if you currently own this car be proactive and swap the valve seats out with the new design which eliminates this fiasco & make sure you keep the paper work as it will help it's resale value to any knowledgeable car buyer. I hardly even knew you 01 Focus SE but you left me feeling bitter and estranged regarding the ford design dept. The only thing good that came from this is my 2011 Yaris which unlike the Focus has gone 140k and climbing on regular maintenance without issue.

I own a 2007 Ford Focus SES 5 door hatchback. I bought the 2007 Ford Focus SES 5 door hatchback certified with 44,360 miles. Now I have 77,360 miles on my vehicle. I do not drive my Ford Focus SES during the winter months. My car is parked in the garage until summer. Best driving car on the highway . I would purchase another Ford Focus SES 5 door hatchback again.
I got my 2006 Ford focus used with 229,000 miles on it. It is a very well made vehicle, fun to drive, and runs better than any used vehicle that I've ever owned! I wouldn't be concerned at all about getting in it and taking it on a long trip. With that said, I'm not to crazy about Ford cars, but I have to give it to Ford on the 06 Focus!!
Excellent car overall.
Not great in snow.
I own a 2007 Ford Focus SES ZX5. It has 78,000 miles. I bought the car factory used car certified with 44,360 miles. I bought the car back in Februaray, 2014. It's great on gas. Great vehicle for a road trip. I do not drive the Ford Focus during the winter months in Michigan. The '07 Ford Focus has been a great car I've owned. If I could find another '07 Ford Focus SES 5 door hatchback like this one I own, I would definitely buy another one. The 2007 Ford Focus SES 5 door hatchback is a fantastic vehicle. Awesome driving experience with the Ford Focus SES.
