Positive Review
Car is much improved over previous generation Taurus. Quiet and smooth ride, good handling, spacious interior. Worth every penny. Trunk is very large. Power is adequate with 3.0L, but won't win any races. car is tight and strong.
Critical Review
@19,511 miles: Heated seat on drivers side quit, Radio CD stopped working covered by warranty. @38,330 miles AWD transmission ,service dept said it would cost in excess of $4000 to repair. I contacted FORD and they agreed to repair under warranty, which expired@36,000 miles. @39,968 right front bearing and hub replaced. Ford paid all except $50. @44,000 replaced front & rear pads. @53000 milesreplaced both front fog lamps &rear turn signal. @70,000 mile air conditioner compressor failed. Ford agreed to pay $883.000 I paid $294.00. The power steering takes more effort than other cars I have owned. I must say that Ford went the extra mile to satisify the customer. What other car maker would do what FORD did? I dare say none. Also the engine is very underpowered for this car. I might add that FORD paid for a rental. I was never without transportation.

I owned this car It had 260,000 miles until I hit a deer but I don’t blame the car I LOVED THIS CAR for being so reliable and comfortable and fun. My favorite car I’ve owned.
Selling a 2005 Ford Five Hundred, Sedan, FWD, light Green, 3.0L, V6 engine, 135,272 miles. New battery, new air filter, new spark plug (1). The vehicle runs off and on. It needs the other 5 spark plugs changed and has a crack in the windshield. Past that great condition, very minor exterior flaws, clean interior, decent tires. The car ran last week, but won't turn over this week. Code reader says "misfire." Mechanic said "cylinder one misfire, possible cause spark plug." I changed only that spark plug. Car ran but runs off and on. Asking $3,800. No checks. Serious inquiries only. (Nickel and dime request will not be answered. I'm a vet. I would rather donate then get scammed. text only)
It looks classy.
The good thing is, it doesn’t have any cons!
It’s OK. A jack of all trades, master of none. Not quite as good as the 2001 Toyota Camry it replaces, but leagues ahead of the 2003 Nissan Altima I had. I owned this - what, 2015-2018? The Camry was 2010-2015, and the Altima was 2007-2010, and replaced by the Volvo 240, which I still have.
Enjoyable to drive
No cons
Our 500 has been very reliable....we have kept up his service....the clear coat on the black paint has been a disappointment....also, last week we had an unintended acceleration into the side of a grocery store....left side of bumper took impact..make left fender-a little.....We understand this can happen to any vehicle....perhaps we have not been reving him enough...do not drive great deal.....Brumby has been our trusted/reliable friend since purchase in Jan. of 2005..current date Sept 1, 2022.....We understand that that as car ages...pump brake little before driving and rev....We have neglected having him 'roam the range' enough. Brumby is named after Australian mountain horse which is strong and reliable.....
YGOOD LOOKING FUN TO DRIVE
NO
I HAVE ONLY ONE THE AIR CONDISIONER WENT OUT WHICH WAS REPLACED SINCE I PURCHED IT NEW FROM THE DEALER EXCEPT FOR NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR TIRES BREAKES
Loaded with features usually considered optional.
Trunk lid is heavier than most.
Other than recommended maintenance items, servicing, tires, battery, etc. this vehicle has required little else to maintain.
Comfort Roomy Smooth Strong Reliable JOY
ABSOLUTELY N O N E
263,000 miles and still riding strong. Reliable and dependable always and still. I ride this car very hard. The most comfortable car I ever had. If you hit a pole...the pole goes down without leaving a dent. I love to drive and will drive for more than several hours at a time. I drove 80 miles per day for over 12 years to work every day and enjoyed the ride. Comfort means everything to those who love to drive. The back seat has so much leg room, I have become everyone's driver..especially cross country. I always drive my Ford 500 rather than ride in anyone's car. Seat hight is perfect. BUTT level. Just slide right in. You won't fall down. Anyone who knows me will confirm all..and laugh but they all want to ride in MY car!
