Positive Review
This is my 3rd Ford Pick up and 5th Ford product. I gave this rating 5 stars overall because of the class it is in. The truck has the 6.0 Diesel powerplant which is an incredible design over the 7.3 L they used to have. The 6.0 is the "Hot Rod" of Diesel engines. It will launch you in your seat and spin the tires with ease as there is almost 700 ft.lbs. of torque to play with. The only problem is when you are towing, you have to know your limits because the truck will "overwork" itself and get hot. You can't just floor it up a steep grade towing in the summer heat and not expect to blow a headgasket. Even so, there is a fix for this called "studs" which will correct cyl. pressure demands in the future. Not a cheap job but if you work a truck this will be by the most part a necessary upgrade. By purchasing aftermarket gauges you can keep an eye on the EGT, Transmission and water temps. This newer design has 4 small valves compared to 2 large valves of its former tried and trued 7.3 International found in the earlier version "powerstroke". The larger valves would dissapate heat much better than the 4 valve design. Another concern is the EGR circuit. This is a porblematic design and needs attention, you can research remedies to correct/ rectify. Yes there are a few items that needs attention but once they have been addressed, you will have a trouble free and very powerful rig for many years. These things are made to tow and do so with gusto. One of the best feature I like is how easy it is to extract this trucks potential by the use of a programmer such as 'SCT'. This will customize your needs and style to throttle input and transmission shift points as well as limiting rpm and speed control and tire size changes. The interior is laid out well. I recommend the King Ranch edition, the styling is rugged yet elegant. I have one which is a 4 wheel drive F350 which gets 20 mpg highway and 14 towing a 28' pace trailer. Not too shabby for a big truck. However the diesel is in a league of its own and I would not recommend one to a person who is not inclined to tow much or who does not maintain records well as the diesel can be a bit much maintainance wise for some folk who use greasemonkey or jiffylube as a mechanic. I would recommend a new owner to install a coolant filtration system right away in order to keep passages clean which in turn preserves the oil cooler and egr coolers functonality. I have traveled long hauls towing and have never had any breakdowns or problems. I can't speak much for the V-10 other than it gets terrible gas mileage and also it's cheaper to maintain than the diesel counterpart. I would recommend this engine to those who just want to put gas in it and go. The diesel engine is an overkill if you don't need one however it should last a long long time with proper maintainance. Ford's Superduty Diesel has sold more than Dodge and Chevy combined. There is a faithful following on these trucks so you will always have support here on the internet. Happy Trails. Benchwrench
Critical Review
The truck looks great and drives like a luxury car. Love the King Ranch package. The only problem is I can only enjoy in the driveway. The 6.0L engine is the biggest LEMON. No power and the turbos keep going out. The first was repaired then replaced under warranty but still had the inconvenience of getting stranded with no power pulling a load of horses in the mountains TWICE. Then after warranty out on time not miles the inter-cooler went 5K and now the turbos again and will be another 5K. None of which Ford will pony up to as a defect in the truck well known and documented. Have always had Ford truck but can no longer depend on them after this very expensive investment. You will have over 5K of yearly repair or about every 10K miles. When it runs it rides very nice on long hauls just do not expect it to have any power and always keep a tow number handy. It also takes a football field to turn around with a HUGE turning radius. The GMC 4500 Kodiak I changed to has half the turning radius. EXTREMELY disappointed in a beautiful truck and in Ford for not offering a solution. If I could have this package with the old 7.3L engine I would be thrilled. They have lost a lifelong Ford customer over this truck.

Low miles for 16-yr. old - body and interior good
Not very reliable early on; ok now $5/gal fuel
I've owned this truck since 11/15; I've owned it for approx. 6.5 years. It was already 9-years old when I purchased it in Nov. 2015. 2.) Body and style - looks great and very comfortable to drive. 3.) Diesels can be expensive both in repairs and to maintain. This truck is no exception. 4.) I've averaged $25K in repairs; $16.5K in preventive maintenance and upgrades for a total of $41K spent. That's $525/month in 6.5 years of ownership. 5.) In Feb 2019 I had some upgrades completed; $8.2K worth of upgrades. Result is that repair costs have since dropped dramatically.
