Positive Review

"Powerboost"

So far the hybrid f150 has been great. I've averaged 24mpg in the last 2000 miles. The truck is super fast and has a ton of power with the battery giving it a little boost. I have the Lariat and the technology and leather inside is amazing. Great truck so far, but it does hurt to spend all that money. Only downside for me is the 10 speed transmission... all the f150s with the 10 speed have clunky shifting in the lower gears (1-4)... apparently it's designed to skip around on those gears a lot and can feel annoying.

"Another F150 Problem"

On Nov 20 I drove my 2021 F150 XLT Hybrid to the Super Market. When I arrived I could not open the drivers door from the inside. I rolled down the window to try and open the door from the outside, it would not open. I got out the passenger door and could only unlock the door with the remote key and the push button keypad. I made an appointment with the Ford dealer. The following day when the weather warmed up everything worked ok. Surprisingly it wasn't because it froze up. Ford dealer found 50701 to update the driver and passenger module (DDMand PDM) to the latest calibration. So they updated it. According to one of the Ford forums many other owners have had the same problem . Seems like new vehicles may be a money eating pit after the warranty expires.

Went from a gen 2 to a gen 3 raptor and it’s night and day difference. Definitely worth the upgrade.

It gets dirty?

My 2023 F150 Lariat 4WD is like a hotrod disguised as a truck. Long live the Coyote!

Meh
Pros

comfortable ride

Cons

unconfident long term reliability

Raptor is very comfortable but hardly fast considering the various brands out now at this price point. Started cold start studders & hard transmission shifts. Also the parking sensors constantly disabled due to the smallest particle blocking it looks good on the outside but dated on the inside. Had some issues with one of the turbos, luckily covered under warranty but doesn't instill confidence long term

Covid car - nothing but problems since day 1
Pros

Nice materials, comfortable, looks nice

Cons

Everything has a problem. engine, electronics, fit & finish...

Multiple recalls, two of which are still not fixed. Wiper motor failed. Sync system will randomly completely reset forcing all radio stations, presets and other vehicle preferences to be re-entered. This happens about every 2 months. It will randomly show the backup camera and then freeze and also will just bluescreen and take 2-20 minutes before it comes back on unless you restart the car. Alternator went bad and truck spent 9 weeks in the shop due to a nationwide backlog that didn't exist. When I finally got the part # they were waiting on I found 23 of them within 30 miles. It magically appeared at the dealership two days later. Interior trim rattles badly if window is down. Transmission aux pump is failing and the truck will randomly jump while in gear at a stoplight which feels like you've been rear-ended by another vehicle. Passenger door wont allow the vehicle to lock or unlock so have to use remote or go to drivers door. Tailgate refuses to open the first time. Heat/AC controls will randomly jump in speed and you can't adjust it unless you shut the car off. I have the Powerboost but the vehicle rarely goes into electric mode and my combined mileage is around 18.6mpg, not 24 as advertised. Eco mode is actually worse than normal mode. There is a reason this truck has dropped nearly 30k in 3 years. Luckily mine is a lease and I can just walk away at the end.

Great value! The Lariat has just the right amount
Pros

Powerful, comfortable, smooth, looks

Cons

Some issues could be had with the 10 speed transmission

The F-150 is a great truck. I was looking for a used reliable truck and the F-150 met all that I was looking for and more. I would recommend Ford and their F series trucks.

Setbacks to a 5-star

Apple Car Play rarely connects to phone via BT or USB. The screen often goes dark when on Car Play leaving me struggling to find the phone to see where I’m going. Alexa is offered but not Siri so it’s unused and useless. Have to pay for Ford Pass & use of installed Navigation & extra cell coverage for ATT ONLY. Not worth it. Struggle with parking brake applying itself when it feels like it. Like on 5 outside LA on the climb heading SE with a 32ft TT attached, it was a nightmare. Or the parking brake applies on hills, it’s random. The Forward Auto Collision prevention just doesn’t work and it trips the app & dashboard. It’s also random but definitely if driving into the sun, or in rain, or any condition not 118 F with sun at high noon. Oh, the passenger window goes down when it wants. I like the truck but it also really sucks to have an American made automobile. We had ceramic tint installed on all windows including the windshield. This truck would be hotter than hell without it. I run the tires at 40psi. At this mileage I’m still 9/10th! 35 is too low and squishy and a pressure suggested just to sell more tires. When fully loaded inside and in the truck bed at 70mph I can easily get 27mpg. When pulling my TT, it’s around 12mpg at 8200 lbs towing. One fill up gets me 527 miles down the road. I also like the transmission terrain settings. Now it claims to have sway control but meh, it’s not XLT sway control. I use a wireless CURT brake controller though so it’s good. Without the CURT, the truck will tell you to slow down if necessary and if you drive the line too long, the truck tells the driver to stop for a break. Nice features but the problems will deter any future American made auto. Never experienced these problems with foreign trucks and they actually cost less. But with tariffs coming it’s better to get your truck now or it’ll be more costly after the idiot comes on Jan. 20th!
