Positive Review
200,000 and engine still purrs like a kitten! Everything handles as if it only has a couple thousand instead of a couple hundred thousand miles! If you take care of these cars, they will last! I'm 5 ft tall. I bought this because, while not the smallest, it was so easy to drive. The adjustable seats that raise for height and go forward for length are awesome. Mine also had the optional foot pedals adjust, so the pedals moved up instead of me having to sit right on top of the wheel. So worth the money. We have a big family, but I didn't want a van. The third row seats allow me to seat three adults and four carseats! A note on the third row seat-not easy to get in and out of, but I never sat there :) so it didn't bother me. But once you were in them-very comfortable. Just had some guy slam into the side of my car while I was driving about 40 mph. It messed up the whole side of the car. Everyone had belts on - no injuries at all. It handled very well and while he pushed the car and it spun completely around into the other direction. It never even leaned or felt like it would tip over! It started right up and drove home also! (Though I think there might be frame damage) Overall this car is so easy to drive and has so much room. Its dependable and I always felt safe. Will definitely buy another! And I recommend highly to you!
Critical Review
I purchased this vehicle March 2013...By March 2014...Transmisson went out. I had that rebuilt $1600...I ve replaced catalytic converter...battery...recently alternator, two days before XMAS 2015. I bought new tires, oil change and front brakes and rotors March 2016....and now my transmission has completely burned out again TWO years later. HATE THIS CAR WITH A PASSION!!!! Now the car is just sitting bc I do not have $2150 to get it fixed. My agreement 309/48 months starting March 2013...I have spent over almost $3000 keeping this car running.

Strong reliable & durable engine!, amazing 4 x 4 drivetrain, able to conquer anything
Spark plug issues here and there!, back windshield wiper motor giving out!
I bought a high mileage Ford Explorer V8 about three years ago. It had 220,000 miles. It now has 258,000 and still running strong. It got me through the past winners with flying colors. Yeah Ford has their hiccups what car doesn’t but as long as you keep putting whatever it needs into it it’ll last you forever.
Dependable
Faded
Car owner is deceased. Car has not been in service for six months or more. Batteries has been checked and found to be good. Engine runs great. Not sure if ac works.
Affordable
Gas mileage
If you want a roomy, Affordable capable for off road Suv the Ford Explorer is for you. I drove the Explorer Limited. It's roomy, you can fit a twin mattress inside with all the back seats down. And has a roof rack for more storage as well as a 2'' tow hitch with hook up for trailer lights. It has a full frame chassis so it drive like a truck light, not like a Honda CRV. 19 mpg, but can help to transport a large family. The brake and gas pedals are adjustable for shorter drivers and has dual climate zones and controls for the radio and temp and fan and cruise control on the steering wheel, handy. Replacement parts are affordable and can be bought from any auto parts store, Amazon and even Walmart, not just from the dealer. Unlike other car brands. which is good to know when going on a long trip. Common parts to replace wheel bearing and sway bar end bushings, upper and lower arm front bushings, shocks. I replaced with Moog and Monroe quick shocks. And AC DELCO belt tensioner and Gates belt. If your handy, not hard to replace yourself. I would recommend if your on a budget. I bought my for $3000 with 130,ooo miles. It lasted 7 years.

Longevity
Transmission rear end
Regular maintenance Transmission not so good, but I did pull a boat, rear end hums a bit. But over 200,000 miles and 2 times a month I drive it 450 miles and to the store 35 miles 4 times a month
It’s a 17 year old car but still looks great specially if you own the Eddie Baer edition. Going 186k miles. Still original Power train. It’s a great car if you take care of it and good beginner car too.
