Positive Review
We bought this used in 08, with about 100000. I needed a pilot vehicle. Not too big, not to small. I needed a pickup that could jump from a dead stop, have take off. I hated a Dodge Dakota, the Toyota Tacoma was not big enough, the Tundra didn't have the jump.... This is an awesome truck. It has never let me down. The only con, is the engine mounts. Total disintegration. That is their only downfall. Every other trac I have seen has bad mounts. Shame on Ford for not making them anymore. I met a guy that HAS and still drives, a 2003, with over 440,000. He said he has only done tune ups. I wish they would make them again. I would buy it. I am sure others would too.
Critical Review
Cruise control died after two years, several attempts to repair to no avail. Dealer gave up. Spent out of pocket to no avail. Currently experiencing electrical failure in dash board. Fuel gauge is spastic, fluxes between E and F constantly. Requires $500 plus fix. Dashboard lights go on and off, flicker, hard to see speed after dark. Windows quit working some times. Doors won't lock sometimes. Disc player doesn't give discs back. Same one for 8 or nine years! (Lion King) Comfortable for long trips. Like body style and ride. Engine has been super, no problems, I've taken good care of it mechanically.

A very nice mid sized 4 door pickup.
My average mpg is 19.
My Sport Trac currently has 208+K miles. It's been in the shop one time to replace the A/C compressor. I changed the front brake pads once. Other than 3 batteries, tires and air filter, only oil and filter was changed. After 3000 miles with original breakin oil I changed oil and filter with Mobile 1 Synthetic 10W 30 every 3000 miles (against my local Ford dealers suggestion that I not do that). The inside of my exhaust pipe is still clean with no black soot residue. If I could buy a new one today exactly like this one I definitely would! FORD, you made a poor judgment call by stopping production of this model with the V6 4.0 motor.
The Sport Trac works great in most conditions, from snow, mud, water, and regular days. Even when the roads get bad, the truck has 4x4 high and 4x4 low. 4x4 high is great for bad weather, such as snow or rain. The 4x4 low is rarely used, but a lifesaver when the truck gets stuck in deep snow or mud. The windows might get stuck or slower during the winter, and the springes on certain items may break over time but are easily reversible. The gas mileage is ok, but not up to par with current cars. On good days it can get around 20 mpg, worst is about 10 mpg. It's a small truck that can be easily parked, and fit up to 5 people. Has the capability of carrying a family, while also having the accessibility of a bed in the back. Although the bed may not be as big as a regular truck, for someone who carries things occasionally, and not very large things, it is very useful. It's almost a perfect mix of both worlds. The only downside of the cabin space is as it can get cramped with not a lot of mobility inside. And if you need to carry something large, you don't have the access to a large bed as a regular truck. Overall, if the truck is maintained well, and is kept up to date with repairs, it will get you confidently from point A to point B with the ability to carry 4 others and a load in the back.
Covered bed with plenty of room for hauling.
Worn seat covers.
No accidents. Some Exterior dings
Very utility oriented
V8 would be nice
Has been a great vehicle with no major issues. The style is one that always begs for conversation! Most asked questions are about the short bed and cleats surrounding it. Even just being 2wd has amazed most when off roading as well!
Fun to drive
Quite engine
Good to driveve love it. Runs gots new parts new bearings new battery new thermostat. New sensors.
decent sports utility vehicle.. smaller truck but can still haul alot of materials and good sized cab with plenty of room for the kids..

Paint peels easy
This is the first vehicle I have had that has been the most mileage on it and stills preform to it's best.
Very comfortable, easy to handle.
