Positive Review
I've had this vehicle for 20 years & I refuse to give it up! We bought it w/ abt 20,000 mi on it. It has a heart of gold! Even when the original motor & trany were getting tired it kept on going. We finally had pity on it & gave it a brand new motor & trany @ 321,000 mi & it was still going before that but we knew it had to only be a matter of time. It made over 6 trips halfway across the country & back over the last 20 years before the new motor & trany. It's going strong & now hauling my grandbabies around instead of my babies. It has built in child car seats so I can pick up my grandkids without having to haul car seats around, I love them & you can't find vehicles anymore with built in car seats. They fold up into the seat so adults can sit in the seat when needed. It has fantastic hauling capabilities as well. I've moved my household completely in the van with no problem it has great weight capacity & space inside. We've moved 3 times with it. The motor & trany are the only major things we've ever had to do with it. This is the most fantastic vehicle I've EVER seen! I wish they still made them. It handles beautifully & is so comfortable to ride in. I can't think of one drawback for my van & believe me I usually can find something wrong, or that I don't care for, with a vehicle. Everyone tells me I need to get a new vehicle but I refuse until they can find me one with built in child car seats & all the inside space & hauling power I have right now & they have to guarantee it will be as good as my van has been to me.

Luxury, reliability, power, sleek sexiness, aerodynamisity
It’s too good for most people
Meet The only mini van that is built on a truck frame. My lame boss bought a fleet composed of Chrysler and Chevy whitewashed mini vans. Guess what, they all broke down at 50,000 miles needing a new tranny. Not my blue aero star. Because of its aerodynamic glide of a ride, it reduces the strain on the power train. I have a manual tranny and it ain’t no granny. It goes up a hill while pulling a trailer, doing everything a light duty truck can do as a favor. Spacious cab and great visibility, it fills up with the ladies instantly. I even took it off road for 60 miles of rough terrain, with shocked looks from the jeepers disdain. Ford Aerostar does it all with class and power. Collectors car right here yall.

comfortable, quiet, dependable, rear wheel drive
can't think of anything negative
I have had this van for several years with little or no issues. It just runs and goes with great gas mileage for a van this size. I have owned several Aerostars and all have been great.
great price, fun, and smooth ride.
top speed 90 mph (max) not all bells and whistles.
First, the suspension is perfect and power is alright, and very easy to drive. The design is comfortable and cozy, however many only have cloth. Exterior is SPORTY (i think). Very comfortable but slow acceleration for freeway. Great power through 0-55 mph. Great quality though and not much to worry about. I don't recommend taking it above 75 mph (you can if you want to) Just don't do it often. Very reliable, and value is great for an excellent condition. I recommend this car for anybody.
Very reliable and practical - more room than a car
No cruise control, cd player, power driver's seat.
Used for work driving all day long to many stops. It is very reliable. I don't like it as a car for long drives as the driver's seat is not a power seat, there is no cruise control or cd player. Great work or transportation to work vehicle. Middle seat is removable for more room if carrying large items.
RELIABILITY!!!!
SUSPENSION, POWER,
I've owned a '96 3.0 for over ten years. IN that time I've driven approx 80k miles. It now has 155k on her. I've had to repair the ac at $900+, the upper tie rods, the radiator, the cat converter. NO new fuel pump, no new alternator, no new starter...virtually nothing engine related at all.. I still can't believe it.. Besides the usual brakes, battery, tires etc... it has honestly been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Out of about ten cars in my lifetime so far. The engine still starts every time instantly I couldn't ask for a more reliable, smooth running engine BUT...... Man oh man it rides like an old farm truck...always has, always will.. roll over an acorn and it feels like a speed bump. I replaced tie rods and bushings and front shocks on it thinking that might help... not a bit. It just has a very hard, rigid suspension. They had no clue how to compete with a Chrysler ride but the engine and transmission reliability make up for it. I am just now starting to experience a little torque converter shudder when I push it. The 3.0 has little power to begin with and going up steep hills with any kind of load really tests it. I can pretty much floor it and it will only go so fast but it still shifts smooth and clean every time...just has no real pull or push to it now.. It never really could get out of it's own way but I get about 24 mpg's highway so I don't mind. Overall.. I really love the old girl. She's taken me all over the country and never left me stranded. One of Fords best jobs...too bad they screwed up the Windstar and Freestar after these. Every now and then they get one right. They had these right...at least mine.
Reliable, lots of space for carrying things
handles like a truck. shallow cup holders
This van has been a workhorse for us, being used for 20 yrs. for family camping trips, then short trips and hauling. It has never had a serious mechanical problem. Everything works fine all the time. There is a ton of space for hauling, with split back seats for long items. We have even removed the back seats and used them for a couch of sorts when camping. We will be sorry to part with this van.
