  • Low fuel costs

Cons

  • Low range
  • Cramped back seats
  • Poor resale value

What's New?

  • Giorgio Armani Edition
  • New Icona mid-range trim

The fashionable and efficient Fiat 500e is a small electric hatchback with a big personality. Pricing starts at $32,495.

The Fiat 500e isn’t the cheapest or longest-range EV out there, but it’s definitely one of the cutest. If you only need enough electric range for city driving, then you’ll get by fine with its 149-mile max range. This Fiat is more than just a pretty face; we love its modern tech features, and its interior is as expressive as its exterior. High MPGe ratings mean it uses electrons efficiently, yielding low fuel costs, even by EV standards. Whether you need a practical EV for city driving duties or you just can’t resist its charms, there’s a lot to like in the Fiat 500e.

We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of electric cars, including the 2025 Fiat 500e.

What's New for 2025

The big update for the 2025 Fiat 500e is the addition of the range-topping Giorgio Armani Edition, making a total of three trims. This collaboration exudes Italian fashion with Armani’s logo and signature incorporated throughout the exterior and interior, body-color exterior accents, and two exclusive paint options: Dark Green and Ceramic Greige.

Also, last year’s Inspired By LA, Inspired By Beauty, and Inspired By Music trims have been consolidated into one new midrange trim called Icona.

2025 FIAT 500e Pricing

The 2025 FIAT 500e has a starting sticker price of $32,495, with the range-topping 500e GIORGIO ARMANI kicking off at $37,495.

There’s not much out there to compare against the pricing of the Fiat 500e. In the world of small and affordable electric vehicles, the Nissan Leaf starts at just under $30k. The bigger and longer-range Chevy Equinox EV is another bargain-priced EV starting at $34,995, although it’s an SUV rather than a hatchback.

Before buying a 500e, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Fiat 500e resale value is below average for the segment. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.

Power, Ride, and Handling

The 2025 Fiat 500e is powered by a 117-horsepower electric motor powering the front wheels. No dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations are available here, and that’s okay. This is a humble subcompact hatchback mainly intended for city driving, and it excels at that duty.

Driving the 500e around city streets is a delight. Although not super powerful, it has sufficient pep for hustling between traffic lights. Its tiny footprint makes it predictably agile and easy to park in tight spaces. The ride can get a little jittery on rough roads, but that’s true of any car this small. The Fiat adequately handles highway jaunts, as well, but its 149-mile range limits its road-tripping ability.

Speaking of range, we like that it comes with what Fiat calls Sherpa Mode. Sherpa Mode uses the climate control system more efficiently and limits the top speed to get the absolute most juice possible out of the battery for times when you’re cutting it close on the range meter.

Range and Charging

The Fiat 500e’s estimated maximum range on a full charge is 149 miles with the optional summer tires and 141 miles with the standard all-season tires. Those are among the lowest range ratings of any EV on the market. Such a small car can’t fit that big of a battery inside. The bigger and more conventional Nissan Leaf also has a 149-mile range with its standard battery, but its SV Plus trim has a 212-mile range.

Expressive Interior

We’re pleased to report that the Fiat 500e is just as adorable on the inside as it is on the outside. Italian flair abounds in this fun interior. There’s no risk of forgetting what car you’re driving; the “FIAT” logo is stitched into a pattern in the seats, and the “500” logo is on the steering wheel and upper seat backs. There are some Easter eggs in the cabin like an image of a classic Fiat and “Made in Torino” engraved inside the interior door handles and the skyline of Turin in the wireless charging pad.

Although it’s a tiny vehicle, the front seats are accommodating for average-sized adults. We appreciate that there’s a front center armrest, which you don’t always get in a subcompact car. The two rear seats are best reserved for kids, and even then, only occasionally. One thing that really makes this feel like a traditional European car is the afterthought cupholders: one in front and one in back.

The 10.25-inch touchscreen houses one of our favorite infotainment systems. The Uconnect system in the Fiat comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus clear and user-friendly menus. A 7-inch digital gauge cluster accompanies the bigger screen.

The 7.5-cubic-foot cargo hold is big enough for some pasta, cannolis, and a few bottles of vino, but not much else. With the back seats folded down, the cargo space expands to 19.4 cubic feet.

Charming Exterior

The exterior design is certainly a highlight of the Fiat 500e. It has one of the most expressive personalities of anything out there with four wheels. The Fiat rivals the Mini Cooper and VW ID. Buzz as one of the best executions we’ve seen of blending retro and modern styling.

The new Giorgio Armani Edition for 2025 takes the Italian identity a step further with 17-inch wheels bearing the Armani logo, a “Giorgio Armani” signature on the window trim, and two handsome paint options: Dark Green and Ceramic Greige.

Our Favorite Features and Tech

Giorgio Armani Edition
We thought the Fiat 500e couldn’t look more Italian, but then the Giorgio Armani Edition came along. This stylish appearance package includes 17-inch alloy wheels bearing the Armani logo, tasteful body-color exterior accents, and two unique paint options.

116 MPGe
The Fiat 500e’s max range is only 149 miles, but its outstanding efficiency rating gives it low fuel costs, even by EV standards. According to EPA estimates, this electric hatchback costs less than $60/month to fuel.

DC Fast Charging
It’s a pleasant surprise that a small and affordable EV like this has DC Fast Charging capability. Fiat claims it can charge up to 40 miles worth of range in just five minutes under ideal conditions.

Uconnect infotainment system
The Fiat 500e has one of our favorite infotainment systems with a 10.25-inch screen, navigation, wireless smartphone connectivity, and an easy-to-use interface.

JBL audio
Bring your music and podcasts to life with the optional JBL 6-speaker premium audio system in the Fiat 500e.

Safety tech
A few modern safety tech features in the Fiat 500e include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, an active lane management system, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams.

Battery and Efficiency

A little 37-kWh battery feeds the single electric motor of the Fiat 500e. It gets 149 miles of range with optional summer tires and 141 miles of range with standard all-season tires. Its maximum charging speed is 85 kW, which Fiat claims is fast enough to replenish 40 miles worth of range in five minutes at a DC Fast Charging station. With a Level 2 charger at home, it will reliably get a full charge overnight.

In mixed driving, the Fiat 500e gets excellent efficiency ratings of up to 116 MPGe with summer tires and 110 MPGe with all-season tires. That’s good enough for an EPA-estimated fuel cost of less than $60/month, regardless of tires.

More 500e range and efficiency information is available on the EPA’s website.

4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty

Fiat covers its vehicles with a 4-year/50,000-mile basic and powertrain warranty. That’s longer basic coverage than the more common 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty, but the powertrain warranty falls short of the typical 5-year/60,000-mile warranty. The 500e’s battery has a warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles.

Safety

A few modern safety tech features in the Fiat 500e include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, an active lane management system, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams.
