Positive Review
3rd owner bought this car with 94k mi. I have driven this car from Salt Lake City to San Diego, CA 10 times. In the cold of Utah, heat of Nevada, this car just performs great. That trip is 1480 miles around trip, can't believe how well this old car handled the road. decent pickup, good passing power and 32 MPG at 70 Mph. Around town here in california, this car is great also. It is in great condition. I have had no issues with the car at all. Normal stuff oil changes and brakes.
Critical Review
The car was bought with139,500 mi. with a fully new exhaust system & an old replacement top that does not leak, but roof design causes rain to drip onto seats & carpet when doors are opened. Previous owner replaced passenger power window motor, but the lifting mechanism has worn out causing the tracking to skew causing it to fail again. I bought 15 in. alloy Mopar wheels & the best MichelinM&S tires, to replace the 14 in. premium cast alloy wheels & Chinese tires [for looks & safety]. It is a 15 foot car, looking new from that distance. There is no rust anywhere at all except tiny spots of surface rust where there is chipped paint or where there is minimal paint under the hood. I had to replace the original master brake cylinder & rear brake cylinders fully & front brake hoses, starter, original shocks & front struts. The usual, plugs, filters, fluids, hoses, light bulbs, wipers, alignment, for maintenance. 25-28 mpg for city [minimal] & freeway [mostly] driving. Good handling & steering & braking. Front seats could be more comfortable [but they are 20 years old & still in very good condition] I may replace the top & chipped windshield & when I'm rich [ha-ha] rebuild the engine, but it will probably last another 200,000 miles. So far the transmission is performing fine, as is the heat, but the A/C needs to be recharged as it is barely cold. I'll keep this Shadow, till I die or it dies beyond normal resuscitation, & trade my van or wagon before I sell this. It's almost as much fun as my old Austin Healey 4 seater, & has more back seat room, way bigger trunk & better ground clearance. I may get a LOUDER horn.

Mine is a 1991. He's been in the family for 15 years. He plows right through the snow like it's not even there. I love driving him. The hatchback is nice for hauling. The engine has been a tough little guy. It's ran just fine when mechanics said they didn't even know how it had started.
Everything about the car
Can't buy new one like this
Bought new Jan 1990. ES Turbo model, 2.5 engine. Over 273,000 miles, finally needs oil pump. Still gets 30mpg. Fuel pump, clutch, radiator, brakes have been replaced. Still get over 30mpg. Drivers door window doesn't work anymore, my fault trying to open frozen shut window. Nothing wrong with the car, runs in minus to plus heat. Can't buy another of this quality.
"runs forever"
A-604 trans
Bought the car used. Third owner. Faults when I got it were from poor quality body shop repairs, no manufacturing. Other the the normal issue with an A-604 transaxle, the car is a die hard. More get up and go than the car needs. With ground effects and a 12 spoiler it looks like a baby "Daytona" satelitte. I got it from our parts manager at the time. With normal maintenance done the car runs and runs and runs. installed aftermarket wheels and painted for my son's first car. Had an 88 and would still be driving it if I didn't need a pick up. Well maintained, you can't go wrong, no matter how old.
fun to drive
cup holders in the worst possible place
I love this car. It is smooth and easy driving. Floats down the highway. Great in the summer with the top down. And gets around like a truck in the snow.
