What Owners are Saying About the 1997 Dodge Neon

"First car... still have it, still running."

"This was my first car. Had it since I was 18 years old. I have replaced things like the starter... alternator... belts... water pump... things like that. But it is still running. Sputters a bit and idles funny, but still running. Gets amazing MPG. I actually get about 44MPG strict highway driving, and I have NEVER gotten less than 24MPG anywhere. My only words of advise... do not let your water pump go bad. I actually purchased this car in non-working condition. Have your water pump replaced if you are in doubt. If it seazes, it could snap the timing belt and create chaos inside the engire, making it junk because the timing belt controls the valve and piston movement. I honestly couldn't be happier. Repairs are to be expected. I paid $2,000 for this 6 years ago, and I'll be selling it soon for $500 because I have more cars since I can afford them after driving this thing for so long!"

"great little cars"

"i get cars all the time from police auctions ive had 35 neons in the last 5 years cars are great on gas 300miles on full tank (12gallons) rotate the tires change oil cars run for 250000 all day. IF buying check timing belt or ask about the timing belt more than 120000 miles change timing belt if it breaks bends valves not cheap fix so just spend the $100 to change it and a neon 2.0 single /DOHC great car"

"Hasn't let me down, yet!"

"Have had the car four 4 years and had do the regular maintenance and the crankcase seal had to be replace due to a large piece of ice hitting the oil pan. When you start it, it has the common ticking that most cars have with the high milage. Otherwise I drive it daily and it has been dependable."
