2014 Dodge Dart Consumer Reviews

I bought a 2013 Dodge Dart SXT in 2021. I was 17 and it was my first car. Paid 10k for it and it had 92,000 miles and was/still is in excellent condition in regards to appearance. Other than what I’m about to tell you, this car was sleek, ran good (when it did), and was a daily driver for almost 4 years. With that being said, if my step-dad wasn’t a mechanic, I would have easily spent thousands of dollars for the repairs and replacements that was needed for this car to be enjoyable, and sometimes to just run. Test drove it and it was perfect, so I took it home for 10k with a little over 82,000 miles. No accident history, had 2 previous owners, and was in excellent shape as far as appearance. However, within the first month of owning the vehicle, my car leaked antifreeze (a whole jug in 5 minutes to be exact) and overheated within 1 minute of driving it, and was undriveable for a week. Had to have hose replaced. About a year later, my a/c stopped blowing. Had my step dad look at it, and the fan needed a whole new motor. Got that replaced. Not even a month later, now with about 90,000 miles, as I was driving on a straight road, my traction control light came on and I had no gas pedal/car had no power. Pulled over, turned off engine and tried to restart car and engine wouldn’t even crank. Called my step dad and my car had to be towed to his shop. Engine starter needed replaced and it got replaced. A few weeks later, I remember it being so hot that I went to open my sun roof for some air as I have 100+ times before, and it wouldn’t open. Button to open it just did nothing. No sound, no budge. So there’s that. Never even got that fixed. Not long after, all the interior lights went out almost at the same time, one by one. Got them replaced (I drive alone at night most of the time and need my interior lights to work when getting in and out of my vehicle) A year later, nearing 101k miles, I was driving on a 4-lane going 60mph. Immediately, with no lights on, no strange noises, I watched my speedometer go from 60.. 50…40.. and I had no gas pedal. Almost got rear ended. Had to get into the turn lane and cross (without using brakes bc there was no gas pedal) at 10mph. Almost got hit. Put my car into park and my engine was revving while in park. 1rpm all the way to 3rpm in park with red lightning bold light flashing, which I now know is the electronic throttle system. Guess what? My car had to be towed again and had the ETS replaced. Now, you would think I’m in the clear, right? WRONG. Not even 6 months later, my engine light came on. Now what? Took it to my step dad, now I have a faulty engine sensor. Didn’t even replace it, I just let it be. Just before I got rid of it, at close to 130,000 miles, I turn on my car and I have no headlights (despite having them replaced in the past, basic maintenance), my windows won’t roll down, radio won’t turn on, screen above wheel won’t budge, wipers won’t work and the list goes on. When it’s daylight, my step-dad came to look at it. NOW it needs a whole new body computer module. Basically an $800 fix and can only be reprogrammed at a dealership. At that point, I was 21 years old and I took out my savings, and traded my car in and got an SUV. I have had no problems with it other than keeping up with routine maintenance. This suv is my second owned-vehicle. My car was fixed and resold at 132,000 miles for $6,500. I was in shock that someone paid that for a vehicle that had such a horrible service history (that was provided upon interest through carfax). Long story short, stay away from the dodge darts. I was 17 and was attracted to the sports car look, sunroof, color, and size. Now that I have had my own experience and spent so much money and time, I wish I had someone show teenage me what other people have to say about this vehicle because I am not the only one that had problem after problem, even when taking great care of the car and doing regular maintenance on it. If I had known the reputation this car upholds, I would’ve saved myself so many paychecks, so much time, saved my step fathers sanity, and would have avoided an intense amount of stress and anxiety. Please do not buy this vehicle. I don’t care if you’re on a budget and found one for $2,000.. you are going to run yourself into a financial hole. I was lucky to have a step dad that took care of a lot of the replacements and towing bills. Without him, I would have paid so much more money than what the car was actually worth. He is a saint for not making me get rid of it. Do not fall for the cool looks of these vehicles. It may drive good, but I can assure you, when it’s not driving good.. it’s not driving at all.

I took very good care of this vehicle. As well as preventative maintenance when needed And also changed oil every 5000 miles or less. Also. Took care of all recalls that were brought to my attention. Changed all 4 tires when needed with alignment.

Minor body damage, well maintained . Son’s first car, high school through college. Tires and brakes in great condition, ac works

love my little dart! bought it ‘used’ with only 2400 miles on it. 2.4L gets up & goes! no issues aside from regular maintenance stuff that happens after 100k. currently 120k miles with no signs of quittin anytime soon. i have shoved 3 kids under the age of 3 in here. its a little tight width wise, but they fit no problem& all have good leg room. truly would buy another. cons - headlights SUCK. as do many low sitting cars. i have tried adjusting headlights & replacing yellow bulbs with LEDs but they still could be better.

I bought my 2014 Dodge Dart limited 2.4 L engine used in 2022 for less than $10,000. It runs great it gets really good gas mileage (like 30 miles to the gallon if you’re careful). I love the black leather interior. Overall it’s a good Midsize sedan. The instrument panel is very accommodating. You can program everything. I have Sirius XM radio in mine and love it! The Soundsystem does leave a little bit to be desired. I want to put new speakers in it in the near future. My Dart has over 142,000 miles and still runs great! It has a lot to get up and go! Make sure you change that synthetic oil blend every 5000 miles!

Hit deer in front end. Motor and transmission great. It is drivable also had damage down passenger side.

I got a new engine within 2 years of ownership because it burned oil like nobody's business. Not easy to change breaks and calipers on this guy. Fun fact to change a headlight bulb you go in through the wheel well. I wouldn't buy again.

I absolutely loved this car when I bought it. It’s a fun little 6 speed and looks sporty and handled the road amazingly. But…. I have had it in the shop more than I have driven it. Every since about 40,000 it has had a new transmission, shift cable, reverse cable, radiator, thermostat, housing , motor mounts,, drive shaft, all the front bc end parts, computer, the list goes on and on. Ridiculous
