"A JEWEL OF A CAR"

I've owned a lot of cars, everything from a Lexus to Chevrolets. But the Avenger is one of the smoothest riding cars I've ever owned. On top of that the Avenger also has a sport-feel as it relates to handling. It gets around 22 MPG in all-city driving and about 32mpg in all highway driving. I believe believe the Avenger is one of Chrysler's best-kept secrets and should definitely be on the shopping list of anyone in the market for a sharp, energy efficient and reliable vehicle.

"Overall Pretty Terrible Car - Disappointing Buy"

I purchased this car early 2013 and have put on approximately 34,000 miles. Since nearly day one, I have had some rough issues with it. Within the first two months, I had issues with the headlights dimming and a loss of electrical power. After taking it back to the dealership, turns out the alternator had a factory defect and had to be completely replaced. Only three to four months later, I began having issues with the brakes jarring and shuddering while stopping. Took it back to the dealership, and the front passenger brakepad was cracked with a chip in the corner and the front driver brakepad was worn considerably. Dealership tells me that brakes aren't covered under the warranty and are not a manufacturer issue (cracked brakepads on a 6 month old car with <10,000 miles aren't manufacturer? give me a break). Finally, by December 2013, I began having air leaking from one of my tires. Took it into a shop to get what I assumed was a hole in my tire, turns out it was a cracked wheel. I called the dealership and it was going to cost $500 for one new wheel or $300 from a junkyard. Instead, I took it to a welding shop and had the crack welded back together. Unfortunately, the "chrome" wheel package is just a plastic cap on your wheel, and it partially melted in the welding process. As of December 2015, the crack has reformed in the same wheel, and it STILL costs nearly as much as it did two years ago to replace the wheel. Also for this month, I have begun to have electrical problems where the Uconnect buttons no longer work, the radio turns on and off randomly, and my windshield wipers have gone off putting the window down. Not only that, but the car drives terribly in the snow (rear wheel drive so no wonder), but I assumed with such a heavy car, it would have done a better job. I have gotten stuck in less than 1/4" of snow with new tires on the car. Long story short, with other options out there, this car just doesn't stack up. From the long list of expensive problems and it's inability to handle winter weather conditions, this car just isn't worth it. In the end, it's getting traded in this week for a Subaru.

Looks sporty and fun to drive
Pros

Touch screen heated seats. Good amount of leg room

Cons

Transmission issues

I've had this car for about 3 years and although it's a nice car I've had to put a lot of money into it to keep it running (besides regular maintenance)

Decent car for a to b
Pros

Its a decent on gas

Cons

It’s basically a fiat

Its a decent car for a to b but i don’t recommend taking it on a road trip not the greatest on gas but good enough about 23ish highway its a good car to start off with if you’re a new driver but for someone whose alittle more experienced it kinda just feels like you’re being held on to while trying to run

Cons

Develops rust quickly

I got this car in 2019 with 100,000 miles on it. It is now 2024 with 155,000 miles on it. This car has not once been in the shop for mechanical issues, it has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I was very sad to get something new.... :(

Heater problem on two different models

Bought brand new loaded up in 2008, wasn’t long that the heat on the passenger side blew cold. My ex bought a 2013, used…. It also doesn’t blow heat on the passenger side? Any ideas? I had it worked on, radiator flushed…..

Pretty but problems
Pros

Comfortable, excellent acceleration & pretty an

Cons

Lots of problems not even 100k miles

I bought my car used and it had under 70k miles. I've had it for 2 1/2 years and kept regular maintenance on it however it has started with small issues. The windshield washer reservoir has a leak. It started honking all by itself and the pop trunk button on my Key started working only once in a while. Now the actuator on the ac/heat has had to be replaced and the latest issues that began this week, is that it has begun to stall out and sounds like it's not getting fuel when I'm in stop and go traffic, and there's a freon leak. Comfortable car in the front and back. It's also very pretty colors interior and exterior.

Loved it!

I purchased mine used with roughly only 17k miles on it, and have now had a bar set for future cars. The amount of space the cabin has is fairly hidden when just looking at the outside. I have only had to have repairs for “user error” issues, and it still performed just like when I bought it. I have only ever put all-season tires on it, and was still able to survive the many NY winters these past years. My version didn’t have anything flashy- I was more than okay with that- other than heated seats, which are man’s greatest invention. Being that it is a car, I wasn’t doing much hauling or trying to get large things in it, but with the back seat able to flip down I was able to fit a bookcase box in through the trunk. With the back seat also having what I’ll call a ‘grab hole’ ( I could choose to only open a small panel into the trunk as opposed to flipping down the entire seat) hockey sticks could fit perfectly without making a presence into the front seated passengers. The gas mileage was fairly solid, I could roughly go about 410miles on a tank before the fuel light would pop up, on the 2.4L engine. I will Certainly sorely miss this car when its’ repair bill becomes on par or higher than the actual value of the car. A fine machine, overall, from Dodge. Thank you, Dodge!
