Introduction
The 2021 G80 is a 5-passenger premium sedan from Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Group. In a class dominated by champions with more established brand cache like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Lexus ES, and the BMW 5 Series, the 2021 G80 combines a bold new look with a host of comfort and convenience features, elevated technology, and a stellar warranty at a gentler price point.
An anchor of the new Genesis brand identity and the marque bearer of the division, the 2021 G80 bears the same elegantly athletic styling present in the award-winning GV80 and the masterfully equipped G70. For 2021, the G80 is retooled inside and out based on a new, more flexible platform. It drops the V8, the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6, and the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 for a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 and a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. The G80 also gets a newly available camera-based suspension system.

KBB Review Highlights
Still earning the bragging rights of the heritage nameplates, vehicle to vehicle, the G80 easily competes with rivals like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, and Audi A6. It delivers a solid bargain, agile handling, and the latest technology and connectivity. Providing a drive inspired by its Genesis sibling, the G70, the G80 performs like a dream.
The G80’s new platform provides a robust foundation for a pliant yet dynamic drive experience across trim lines. The base 2.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder and the available twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 mate with a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission. The 4-cylinder delivers 300 horsepower and handles nimbly in rear-wheel drive (RWD). The 375-hp V6 option is beautifully matched to the all-wheel drive (AWD) system and provides power effortlessly, reminding you of pure driving pleasure.
Serene comfort and support are prime directives in the G80. The interior is uncluttered and calm, and the roomy cabin is comfortable and luxuriously appointed with front and rear heated and ventilated seats. The main attraction is an Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-enabled 14.5-inch infotainment screen, controlled by a dial on the console next to a handwriting-recognition surface. A frameless mirror and slimmer A-pillars improve driver visibility.
Crisp, sleek lines define the bolder shape of the G80. Broader and a smidge lower than the previous model, it is anchored by a wide diamond-patterned grille and twin parallel bar LED lights that flow into the front fenders and repeat in the rear. Masterfully sculpted, the 2021 G80 has presence and speaks the language of restrained luxury.
The 2021 G80 is available in 5 well-equipped trims: the 2.5T Standard, 2.5T Advanced, 2.5T Prestige, 3.5T Standard, and the 3.5T Prestige. Each comes with standard RWD and available AWD. Adding to its glided bang-for-your-buck status, the 2021 Genesis G80 brings a luxurious laundry list of standard equipment far exceeding its midsize sedan rivals. The base 2.5T RWD Standard brings 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, high-quality simulated leather upholstery, power front seats, dual-zone climate control, a 12-speaker audio system, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also includes a comprehensive safety suite with blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic collision avoidance, and automatic emergency braking.
As you walk through the abundant trim lines, additional features, a larger engine, and more customizable equipment arise, like a surround-view mirror, camera-based adaptive suspension, remote smart parking, Nappa leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, a power door-close, digital key, and power rear shade.
