Introduction

The Acura TLX is a premium sport sedan from Honda’s luxury arm. Designed to bring a fun drive experience at a value-driven price point, the 2021 Acura TLX marks the start of the second generation of the TLX. First debuted as a concept car in 2014 at the New York Auto Show, the first edition of the sedan combined all the good stuff from two of their longtime nameplates, the TL and TSX, into one to create a performance-minded luxury sedan with increased power, gumption, and improved handling.

Fast forward to the 2021 model, buyers were gifted a dedicated platform, two engine options, the powered-up and sport-tuned Type S, improved connectivity, and increased safety features. The 4-seater has become an instantly recognizable benchmark for the Acura brand – even as supply chain issues plagued the planet, clogging production pipelines.

KBB Review Highlights

In a class dominated by heavy hitters with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Genesis G70, and BMW 3-Series, the 2021 Acura TLX steps up with a more powerful engine and a comprehensive suite of safety features. The sport sedan falls in the Goldilocks space between compact and midsize with a wider body and more grounded stance. It makes up for a petite second row with comfort and convenience features throughout the vehicle.

Known for its polished good looks, the previous generation TLX left buyers hungry for power and an authentic sport-driving experience. Buyers wanted efficiency and exhilaration. The 2021 lineup model fulfills this wish. The TLX Type S gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 for the power-hungry driver. For drivers treasuring efficiency, the 2.0L 4-cylinder reigns in the other TLX trims. Acura engineered the 2021 TLX to provide superior handling that is responsive and engaging. Unsurprisingly, the TLX has become one of the best-selling sport sedans in Acura’s history.

Holding fast as a popular, value-conscious sport sedan, the 2021 Acura TLX comes well-equipped with driver assistance like front-collision warning and lane-keeping assist, streamlined connectivity, and more generous space than its class competitors.
