2025 Tesla Model Y vs. 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron Comparison

Electric vehicle sales continue to rise as more Americans become more comfortable adopting the technology. Another critical component in the increased acceptance is that buyers simply have more choices. At one point last year, the Tesla Model Y was the world’s top-selling vehicle, and is the No. 1 EV in America. It now has a group of competitors, including the 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron, which competes on performance, style, and price.

Let’s check out these two all-electric SUVs.

2025 Tesla Model Y

2025 Tesla Model Y

The 2025 Tesla Model Y is the best-selling EV in the U.S. — and the world. With a simple exterior and uncluttered, clean interior, the Model Y is a nice place to be. It also features a slew of safety and convenience technologies, i.e., Autopilot and so-called Full Self-Driving, so any trip in a Model Y is an exciting proposition.

Perhaps the best part of Tesla Model Y ownership is the access to the company’s Supercharger network. With nearly 2,000 stations in the U.S. and more than 21,850 charging ports, ensuring you have a reliable place to charge is a virtual certainty.

Tesla Model Y Highlights

Supercharging: With over 20,000 Supercharger charging ports across the U.S., range anxiety isn’t an issue. If you forget to plug in your Tesla Model Y at home one night, finding a place to charge quickly — you can add 175 miles of range in about 15 minutes — isn’t a problem.

Semi-autonomous driving:  Autopilot bundles features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Enhanced Autopilot adds Navigate on Autopilot, automatic lane-changing, automated parking, and Smart Summon. Finally, Full Self-Driving Capability further adds Autosteer on city streets and automatic stop-and-go at traffic lights and stop signs.

Flexible interior space: The Tesla Model Y can be had with a third-row seat. It’s probably not going to get used much, but if you need to transport a couple of extra little humans, you’ll be up to the task.

2025 Audi Q4 e-tron

Introduced as a 2022 model, the Audi Q4 e-tron provides a clear alternative to the Tesla Model Y. It does this while remaining true to Audi’s contemporary, elegant style. The Q4 e-tron is offered not only as an SUV but also as a sleek Sportback model with a tapered roofline.

For 2025 the entry-level Q4 40 e-tron is upgraded to a new engine and a new badge. The Q4 45 e-tron comes with a single rear-mounted motor that puts out 81 hp more than last year’s base model, now up to 282 hp. The next-level-up Q4 55 e-tron gets a dual-motor setup that pushes the ponies to a more impressive 335 hp, making it more competitive with the Tesla Model Y. Also new for 2025, the formerly optional Technology package is now standard equipment, including Virtual Cockpit Plus, traffic sign recognition, and more.

Audi Q4 e-tron Highlights

Sporting touch: Audi models are known as performance machines and stylish ones at that, and the Q4 e-tron keeps that going with a Sportback model. However, it also offers a squared-off steering wheel, making it easier for drivers to slide their legs under.

Quick charge: Audi estimates that the Q4 e-tron can replenish its battery from 10% to 80% of its capacity in as little as 28 minutes using DC fast charging at a max rate of 175 kWh.

Super sound: Sonos, which may be best known for making excellent home audio setups and Bluetooth speakers, now supplies Audi with crisp and well-defined systems like the one in the top Prestige trim of the Q4 e-tron.

Similarities

These all-electric SUVs charge quickly, moving from 10% to 80% in 20 to 25 minutes, depending upon the charger’s output. The Tesla Model Y and Audi Q4 e-tron both feature simple, clean designs that are attractive and slippery in the wind.

Conclusion

It was nearly impossible to have a more austere interior than what you find in an Audi until Tesla came along. However, Tesla offers buyers a lot of technological innovation as well as good fun that you cannot get in the Audi Q4 e-tron at a lower starting price. Additionally, the Tesla Model Y is more likely to be eligible for U.S. federal tax credits and enjoys full access to the Supercharger network.
