The 2025 Porsche Taycan and 2025 Audi S e-tron GT are low-slung sport/luxury sedans with all-electric powertrains and razor-sharp reflexes. They share the same platform and have battery packs mounted low in the center of the chassis. This is one of the engineering tricks that helps explain how both cars can blast around corners at high speed with precision and composure. All-wheel drive (AWD) is optional in the Taycan, standard in the S e-tron GT.
However, this shared platform doesn’t mean that both cars are essentially the same except for their badges. Let’s take a more detailed look.
2025 Porsche Taycan
Introduced for the 2020 model year, the 2025 Porsche Taycan receives a mid-generation revamp. The looks are slightly different, but it’s the less visible stuff that has received more attention. Porsche improved aspects of the Taycan’s drivetrains from the motors to the batteries — enabling faster charging times, faster acceleration times, bigger power, and better ranges. The suspension has also been improved. Standard equipment expands to include a heated steering wheel, ambient cabin lighting, Lane Change Assist, and various other items.
Three new variants also make their debuts. The first is an all-wheel-drive version of the base model, the Taycan 4. The other two are both GTS models with 690 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and the ability to accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. They come in the form of the regular sedan or as a Sport Turismo — a sleek wagon style.
The base Taycan is the only one that comes with a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive (RWD). And no, the Turbo models don’t actually have turbochargers. In this context, Porsche uses the Turbo name to denote more power and speed. The entry-level version shouldn’t be overlooked, however, as it produces a considerable 402 horsepower (429 hp with launch control engaged), whisking this sleek sedan from standstill to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. It also has the best maximum range of the lineup: 318 miles with the optional Performance Battery Plus (274 without). Pricing begins at $101,395, including the destination charge.
Porsche Taycan Highlights
Scalpel-sharp reflexes, awesome acceleration: Few cars, gasoline- or electric-powered, get around corners like the Porsche Taycan. The steering provides tons of feedback, boosting the driver’s confidence on curvy roads. Higher trims gain all-wheel drive and have jaw-dropping acceleration. At the top, the Turbo S model enjoys 750 hp and a fleeting zero-to-60 mph time of 2.4 seconds.
Three body styles: The Porsche Taycan is available as a sedan or in wagon-like Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo variants. These latter two have slightly more rear headroom and extra cargo space than the regular sedan.
InnoDrive: Porsche’s partially automated adaptive cruise control system takes into account upcoming bends, topography, and any vehicles around the car. This is a great fatigue-reducing tool to have during long trips.
Carbon ceramic brakes: Going fast is fun, but coming to a decisive and controlled halt is also pretty nice. The standard brakes are powerful, while these optional carbon ceramic brakes provide outstanding stopping power.

2025 Audi S e-tron GT
For 2025, the previous e-tron GT has evolved into the Audi S e-tron GT, with more power than last year’s RS e-tron GT (RS is Audi’s highest-performance category), plus an upgraded battery with a better range and a faster charging time than before, revised brakes, and an improved suspension. Pricing starts at $126,795 (including the destination charge) for the Premium Plus trim. There’s also a higher Prestige trim.
The S e-tron GT is priced substantially higher than a base Taycan. Keep in mind, though, that this Audi electric vehicle (EV) comes standard with all-wheel drive and an awesome 670 horsepower. That puts it more in line with a Taycan GTS, against which the S e-tron GT starts to look much more reasonable.
Audi S e-tron GT Highlights
Stunning exterior: In our opinion, the S e-tron GT is the type of car where once a drive is over and you’ve parked, you can’t help glancing back and admiring it when walking away.
Range: Both versions of the S e-tron GT can travel for a useful maximum of 300 miles between charges. Some luxury electric vehicles can go further, but the S e-tron GT is pretty much on equal terms with the Taycan in this respect.
Sport Seats Pro: Our only complaint with the S e-tron GT’s front seats is that we can’t remove them and place them in a den or living room. They come with pneumatic adjustment, and are heated and ventilated. They also provide both outstanding comfort and support during long drives and back-road blasts alike.
Bang & Olufsen audio: Since a luxury EV operates in near silence, that’s the perfect environment for enjoying one’s favorite tunes. A 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D system provides an incredible listening experience. Better still, it’s standard equipment.

Similarities
It’s immediately apparent that these two share a platform. They both look sportier than a typical sedan, and have drivetrains positioned to enhance driving dynamics. One thing to consider — that low stance could make getting in and out a bit awkward for some. Both cars can also charge their batteries quite quickly, going from 10% to 80% capacity in just 18 minutes when using a DC fast charger.

Conclusion
This has been a seesaw contest between the Porsche Taycan and the Audi S e-tron GT. Choosing the ultimate winner might well come down to which badge you’d rather see on the steering wheel.
The lower starting price of the Porsche seems positive, but scaling to higher trims can double that figure quite easily. Yet when you’re behind the wheel, the Taycan feels absolutely alive. And then there’s the added benefit of having slightly more practical and roomier wagon variants.
A test drive of each EV seems in order, if only for the enjoyment of experiencing both cars. If forced to choose, we give the Porsche Taycan a narrow win due to the greater variety in its model lineup.
