Let’s Take a Look Inside the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is totally revamped for 2024. It looks much like its predecessor but sports slightly larger exterior dimensions. For now, this compact 5-seat luxury SUV with a coupe-like roofline is offered only as a GLC 300 4Matic. A pair of high-performance AMG models may arrive later this year.

The GLC 300 Coupe’s engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder mild hybrid powertrain that sends 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. For short periods, the integrated starter/generator can add up to 23 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque for even better performance.

Thus equipped, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Coupe, which also includes paddle shifters, hits 60 mph in 6.2 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.

As expected of a new Mercedes, all the latest driver-assistance and safety features abound. Also notable for 2024: All Mercedes GLC 300 Coupes come standard with sporty AMG Line styling outside and in, which is where you’ll also find a large new portrait-oriented central touchscreen, a large digital instrument cluster, and the latest version of the “Hey, Mercedes” audible infotainment controller.

Let’s take a closer look inside the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.

Passenger Room and Comfort

Although it’s about an inch longer than the previous GLC Coupe, the new 2024 GLC 300 Coupe has the same amount of passenger room. Which is to say, it’s fine for four adults or five good friends. But do understand that the GLC Coupe’s fastback roofline means it has about 1.5 inches less rear headroom than the boxier, standard GLC SUV.

The new GLC Coupe also has a slightly longer rear load floor than the 2023 model, which gives it a few extra cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seat. With that split-folding back seat folded forward, the new GLC Coupe has 52.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity, nearly as much as the Audi Q5, one of its main competitors.

Mercedes likens the cabin of the new GLC Coupe to a “high-tech” refuge. To that end, the German company has equipped this compact luxury SUV with a handsome interior that features a leather-lined dashboard, a larger panoramic sunroof, extra sound-deadening materials, and a thick-rim flat-bottom steering wheel. MB-Tex, a durable synthetic leather, is the standard seat upholstery; leather is optional. Among the available types of interior trim are three types of wood and a metal weave.

The standard MBUX user interface is a multimedia system that employs artificial intelligence. Aided by augmented video, the multitalented system places helpful arrow overlays on the navigation screen to make sure you reach your destination without missing any turns.

Besides the improved MBUX interface and nav, other standard comfort and convenience features on the 2024 GLC 300 Coupe include dual-zone automatic climate control, a fingerprint scanner, heated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Sirius XM satellite radio, a power tilt/telescope steering wheel, and three USB ports. Also deserving of mention are the power liftgate and a wireless smartphone charger, both standard as well.

Features and Tech

Let’s take a look at four of our favorite tech features in the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Coupe:

Transparent Hood: The GLC 300 Coupe’s standard 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD) has an off-road driving mode with Downhill Speed Regulation and Transparent Hood, a feature that uses underbody cameras to show the driver the exact terrain below the nose of this SUV in tricky off-road conditions. But only at speeds up to 5 mph. While we don’t see the GLC Coupe being used much as an off-roader, these are neat technologies that will definitely come in handy if you do.

11.9-inch central touchscreen: This large portrait-oriented screen is a big improvement over the smaller horizontal one in the previous GLC Coupe. It offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, too.

Driver Assistance Package: With this highly recommended optional package, you not only get adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian detection), and active lane-change assist but also route-based speed limit assist, which automatically slows the GLC Coupe (if necessary) for upcoming turns on the highway.

Burmester 3D surround sound: With 15 speakers and 710 watts of power, this optional sound system has a Sound Personalization setup assistant that helps you find your perfect setup and then allows you to store it in your personal profile.

Safety Technology

As a modern Mercedes SUV, the GLC 300 4Matic comes loaded with standard safety technology. In addition to the usual suspects like automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring, the GLC Coupe also is equipped with a Surround View System, a driver knee airbag, and front and rear window airbags that offer head protection in side impacts.

If safety is paramount to you, get the optional Driver Assistance Package. Besides adaptive cruise control with steering assist and stop and go, this $1,950 package nets you rear cross-traffic assist and Pre-Safe Impulse Side, a system that senses an impending side impact and deploys an airbag to move you toward the center of the car, away from the point of impact. The Driver Assistance Package also adds pedestrian detection to the automatic braking, plus route-based speed adaptation. With cruise control active, the GLC 300 Coupe automatically slows if it’s traveling too fast for an upcoming curve on the highway.

Multiple Factory Options

If you’d like to personalize your GLC 300 Coupe, there are several intriguing options. Among them are various metallic paint colors and AMG wheels, plus a Night Package featuring abundant gloss-black exterior trim. And if it’s your sort of thing, you can also get an illuminated Mercedes star on the grille for $500.

Also available are brushed aluminum running boards, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and an advanced USB package that features six USB ports, all with fast charging capability. You can also order your GLC 300 Coupe with a trailer hitch, rear side airbags, and the powerful Burmester audio system.

Lastly, you can even order a dash cam on your 2024 GLC 300 Coupe, but only on the top Pinnacle trim level. Mounted high in the windshield, the camera captures what’s happening on the road in front of the GLC 300. This could be a sequence of events leading up to an accident (let’s hope not). Or a beautiful memory of, say, your recent visit to the 17-Mile Drive in Monterey, California (let’s hope so). Either way, the video footage can be put on a USB stick using a media interface.
