Few SUVs come anywhere close to matching the off-road capabilities of the 2025 Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco. With their blocky shapes, large wheels, raised ride height, and standard 4-wheel drive, these two are engineered to be unafraid of rugged terrain.
How do these bruisers compare when faced against each other? We’re very glad you asked. Let’s take a look at the highlights of the latest Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco.
2025 Jeep Wrangler
During miles of road tests on paved roads and off them, the Wrangler impresses us with its balance of being a daily driver and hardcore adventure machine. The ride is firmer than many more car-like SUVs, but this doesn’t stop the Wrangler from remaining wildly popular.
For 2025, the Jeep Wrangler gets a few tweaks, including standard power windows and door locks on the base trim. The Wrangler’s V6 is now only available with a 6-speed manual transmission, and a new Olive Green paint treatment is added. 2025 marks the 392 V8’s final year.
Jeep Wrangler Highlights
Rubicon X model: The Rubicon X has the same off-road gear found on the regular Rubicon. This consists of an electronic swaybar disconnect, rock rails, locking front and rear differentials, and a stouter suspension. To this, it adds extras like front seats covered in Nappa leather, heated front seats, and an integrated trail camera.
Easy-to-use infotainment: Every Wrangler features a 12.3-inch touchscreen that runs on the user-friendly UConnect 5 infotainment system. Wireless smartphone connectivity and voice recognition are standard. The system’s backlit screen makes it brighter and easier to see during top-down (or top-off) drives.
Sky One-Touch top: Speaking of sunny driving, the available Sky One-Touch top opens its fabric roof with only the push of a button. This is perfect for SUV shoppers who want the joy of a convertible without the hassle of dealing with removable roof panels or awkward canvas tops.
Plug-in hybrid model: We generally review the Wrangler 4xe separately, though we think it’s worth singling out as a highlight of the lineup. It provides 22 miles of electric-only driving. Better still, this drivetrain dishes out 375 hp and a whopping 470 lb-ft of torque. The Bronco, on the other hand, has no hybrid option at all.

2025 Ford Bronco
For 2025, the Bronco sees the return of a low-cost base model, which joins the Outer Banks, Badlands, Stroppe Special Edition, Heritage, and of course, the Raptor.
Although its starting price comes in higher than the Wrangler’s, these SUVs are similarly priced when similarly equipped. During our time with the many permutations of Ford’s recently reintroduced big pony, the Bronco proves remarkably easy to drive given its size. Predictably, it’s also a beast off-road.
At last count, there are seven trims, three choices of engine, plus 2- and 4-door body styles. Like the Jeep Wrangler, the doors come off, and there are a variety of roof designs. Serving as the standard drivetrain is a 275-hp 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder available with a 7-speed manual or 10-speed automatic. A 315-hp 2.7 twin-turbo V6 is next up the ladder and perched atop the range, the Bronco Raptor comes with its own twin-turbo 3.0-liter that produces 418 hp.
Ford Bronco Highlights
Ride and handling: We already hinted at how manageable the Bronco while daily driving. More to the point, it rides and handles in a much less truck-like manner than the Jeep Wrangler. You’ll want to budget acres of space for curbside parking, granted, but this big Ford feels surprisingly docile.
Retro design: Styling is subjective, yet we think Ford knocked it out of the park with the Bronco’s retro-themed design. It pays homage to the original Bronco with its round headlights, wide stance, and upright shape. We also can’t help but love that liberally applied horse logo. The Bronco has as much visual personality as the Jeep Wrangler, which is saying a lot.
Sasquatch Package: The name alone is worth it, except the Sasquatch Package is much more than an homage to a mythical forest-dwelling beast. It comes with electronic-locking front and rear axles, giant 35-inch off-road tires, wider fender flares, a Hoss 2.0 suspension with Bilstein dampers, and more. Oh yes, it also comes with cute Bigfoot badging inside and out.
Bronco Raptor: This is akin to a Ford Bronco that’s been fed a diet of coffee beans and protein powder versus oats. With its 418-hp twin-turbo V6, the Bronco Raptor accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in about six seconds. Among many other items, the Raptor comes with 37-inch tires, even wider fender flares, Fox shocks, a reinforced frame, and heavy-duty underbody skid plates.

Similarities
There aren’t many comparisons where our two combatants are so evenly matched. They both have multiple drivetrain options, available manual transmissions, removable doors, and high-performance off-road variants.
Conclusion
Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco fans are fiercely loyal, so we’re taking great care here. The Bronco holds a narrow advantage in terms of on-road driving manners, and the simple fact of its larger size means there’s extra passenger space and cargo volume.
The Wrangler is an unstoppable force when venturing off-road, and this recent round of updates make it even more appealing. Jeep buyers love the more rough-and-tumble ride quality, and who are we to argue?
Except for the fact they share so many similarities, we’d call each a one-of-a-kind ride. The choice here largely comes down to personal preference. Budget a weekend for a test drive of both.
