Luxury Midsize SUV Crossover

2025 Genesis GV80 vs. 2025 Buick Enclave Comparison

The 2025 Genesis GV80 has an eye-catching exterior, a classy cabin, an exemplary warranty, and all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard. We’ve been impressed by its quick reflexes and prodigious acceleration, particularly when equipped with an optional twin-turbocharged V6 engine.

The 2025 Buick Enclave competes in the same midsize luxury SUV segment. It’s all-new this year, with better styling and a more sophisticated interior, yet it has the same attractive pricing, thousands less than many competing models, including the GV80.

Which is the better pick? To find out, we decided to compare them by exploring some of their most notable highlights.

The 2025 Genesis GV80 gets a few upgrades this year. It displays a new grille and headlight treatment, while its cabin adds a new 27-inch screen that combines the instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen into a single unit. The GV80 is a true luxury SUV, offering some things the Enclave can’t match like the range-topping Prestige Signature model’s reclining second-row captain’s chairs separated by a center console. Speaking of seating, most GV80 models are configured with a 2-row/5-passenger setup, but a small third row is available.

The base powertrain consists of a 300-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine is strong enough to propel the GV80 from a standstill to 60 mph in about six seconds.

A 375-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 coupled to the same automatic gearbox is optional. All-wheel drive is standard with either engine.

Genesis GV80 Highlights

Top marks for safety: Many SUV shoppers will love knowing the Genesis GV80 earned Top Safety Pick+ status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). That’s the highest possible score and it factors in crash tests, child-safety seat LATCH points, headlight effectiveness, and the performance of driver aids like automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Class-leading warranty: Another glowing highlight of the Genesis GV80 is its outstanding warranty. A 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty is complemented by 10 years/100,000 miles of powertrain coverage. Also included in the deal is five years of unlimited-mileage roadside assistance, plus three years/36,000 miles worth of free scheduled maintenance.

Highway Driving Assist II: We enjoy how this semi-autonomous driving aid takes some of the stress out of long highway drives. It uses features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping to assist in maintaining road positioning and keeping a safe distance from other vehicles.

2025 Buick Enclave

2025 Buick Enclave Avenir

This year, the 2025 Buick Enclave gets a complete makeover with more sophisticated styling, updated content, and improved ride and handling. The previous generation’s V6 is long gone, replaced by a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that delivers more power and better fuel economy.

The Enclave’s cabin retains its reputation for spacious accommodations, although it does lose a bit of cargo room compared with last year’s model. Ample attention paid to soundproofing creates a hushed cabin with excellent marks for head and leg room in all three rows. Never one to skimp, Buick equips the base Preferred trim with a massive 30-inch display screen, heated front seats, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system. The top Avenir touts ventilated and massaging front seats, and every trim can be equipped with GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving assistant.

Buick Enclave Highlights

Available Super Cruise: GM’s hands-free semi-autonomous driving aid removes the worry from long road trips. By the end of 2025, the system will work on over 750,000 highway miles in the U.S. and Canada.

Hands-free help: The Enclave’s standard auto-sense power liftgate makes accessing the spacious cargo bay easy, even if your hands are full. Simply stand behind the Enclave with the key fob on your person, wait a few seconds, and the tailgate automatically rises.

12-speaker Bose Audio: Every great road trip demands great music, and with the Enclave’s standard Bose audio system, great music never sounded so good.

Conclusion

If you don’t want or need a roomy third row of seats, the Genesis GV80 is the winner in this comparison. It looks and feels slightly more upscale, has sharper driving dynamics, offers a choice of powertrains, and has a better warranty.

That being said, the Buick Enclave is less pricey, has a much roomier cabin with a standard third row, loads more cargo room, and offers Super Cruise regardless of trim. If you regularly have a lot of passengers, they’ll appreciate the extra room in the Enclave.
