Car shoppers in the market for a compact luxury SUV would be wise to consider both the 2025 Genesis GV70 and the Audi Q5. They come packed with features, have standard all-wheel drive, and provide plenty of passenger space and cargo volume.
We’ve spent many miles behind the wheel of each and routinely come away impressed by their performance and overall refinement. Let’s take a look at some highlights of the Genesis GV70 and Audi Q5 to see how they compare.
2025 Genesis GV70
The Genesis GV70 starts at $47,050, including a $1,350 factory-to-dealer delivery charge. One of the things we love about this luxury SUV is that you don’t have to spend a fortune to make it look and feel luxurious.
The entry-level 2.5T model’s standard features include synthetic leather seating surfaces, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless device charging, navigation, satellite radio, and more.
Genesis GV70 Highlights
Spirited acceleration: If you’re someone who likes life in the fast lane, you’re going to love the choice of engines in the Genesis GV70. With 300 horsepower, the base turbocharged 4-cylinder is one of the most powerful base engines among small luxury SUVs. For even quicker getaways, there’s a twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 375 horsepower. Both are connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Traction-enhancing all-wheel drive is standard across the board. There’s also an all-electric model called the Electrified GV70
Excellent safety scores: Just like the Audi Q5, the GV70 is a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It also scores a 5-Star rating from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Class-leading warranty: This is something of a home run for the Genesis GV70. Not only does Genesis include a new vehicle warranty of five years or 60,000 miles, but it also includes 10 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage. Even better, scheduled maintenance is free for three years or 36,000 miles, and five years of roadside assistance with no mileage cap is also part of this sweet deal.

2025 Audi Q5
The Q5 is Audi’s most popular SUV and has a starting price of $46,695, including a $1,295 destination fee.
The base drivetrain is a 201-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder. Also available are a 261-hp variant and a 362-hp plug-in hybrid version. There’s also the high-performance SQ5 with 349 hp. There are even two choices of body design: the more squared-off standard model or the Sportback variant with a tapered rear roofline for a more coupe-like profile.
Audi Q5 Highlights
Engine lineup: Audi doesn’t skimp when it comes to offering a wide range of engines. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that produces 201 or 261 hp, depending on the configuration. The sport-themed SQ5 has a 349 hp turbocharged V6 under its hood. And finally, the Q5 plug-in hybrid has a total of 362 hp and can travel 23 miles solely on electric power.
Virtual Cockpit Plus: This customizable digital instrument display projects everything from navigation commands, music settings, or temperature controls directly ahead of the driver. This means less time spent looking at a centrally-mounted infotainment screen versus the road ahead.
Sportback: True, we generally review the Sportback on its own. Yet we think having a choice of two body styles is an advantage worth noting here. While a Sportback variant has a little less cargo room and second-row headroom, the differences between it and the standard model are minor. So, if you like a racier shape, you’ll love the Q5 Sportback.

Similarities
These are classy and well-engineered choices in the competitive field of small luxury SUVs. They each have premium interiors with supportive seating and plenty of room for adults in either row. In city or highway driving, the Genesis GV70 and Audi Q5 are agile and have comfortable rides.
Conclusion
In a contest this close, sometimes a visit to two dealerships and a test drive of each could seal the deal. We’ve always been fans of the Audi Q5’s business-class-like cabin and blend of performance and economy. That being said, this generation dates back to the 2018 model year and we think the Genesis GV70 looks and feels like the fresher of the two. It has a much more powerful base drivetrain and, let’s not forget, that awesome warranty coverage.
