2025 Honda Pilot vs. 2025 Buick Enclave Comparison

Although the average family isn’t getting bigger these days, it sure seems like the amount of stuff they do and what they need to carry is growing. Automakers have been rushing to meet the needs of busy families with more and more 3-row offerings.

The 2025 Honda Pilot and 2025 Buick Enclave give buyers plenty of space while managing to look good inside and out. In fact, the new Enclave received a complete makeover for the new model year. They also offer plenty of technology that all members of the family want.

Ready to learn more? Let’s explore some highlights of the Honda Pilot and Buick Enclave.

2025 Honda Pilot

2025 Honda Pilot Black Edition with mountains in the background.

The Pilot’s 2023 makeover proved it can look rough and ready while still performing soccer mom duties. When families want to go off the beaten track, Honda’s got a trim package for that: the TrailSport edition. It features steel skid plates, an extra inch of ground clearance, the TrailWatch Camera System to better navigate rocks and trees around the vehicle, and special software designed to help it traverse more challenging terrain than its predecessor.

Whether you’re looking to get away from it all for a few days or simply need a roomy, comfortable place to be while getting around town, the Pilot is ready. Honda upgraded the Pilot’s on-road componentry, such as its suspension and steering. The changes made it stiffer, giving it more agility for moments when being nimble is critical. Pricing for the Pilot starts at $41,595, including destination fees.

Honda Pilot Highlights

TrailSport model: The outdoorsy TrailSport model is equipped with all-terrain tires and a full-size spare, AWD, a beefed-up suspension system, underbody skid plates, a surround-view camera, and second-row captain’s chairs.

Removable second-row seat: In the Pilot Touring and Elite trims you get cozy second-row dual captain’s chairs with a removable center seat that can double as a center console. Or, it can be removed completely and stowed in an underfloor compartment located in the cargo area. It’s a clever touch and adds even more interior versatility.

Traffic Jam Assist: Under the right conditions, the Honda Pilot can pretty well drive itself through slower-moving highway traffic. Just keep a hand on the steering wheel to let it know you’re paying attention, and it’ll go, stop, and steer for miles at a time. It works very well, and it’s standard across the lineup.

2025 Buick Enclave

2025 Buick Enclave Sport Touring

In addition to the new exterior look, the Buick Enclave steps up the power numbers compared to its predecessor, getting its second new powerplant in two years. It’s now motivated by a 328-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder that offers good fuel economy and is an excellent cruiser for longer trips.

Although not the largest cabin in its class, it’s near the top. Even the third row offers decent space for full-size adults. Regarding cargo space behind the last row, it is the leader. Once inside, occupants enjoy many features that are add-ons for other vehicles but standard for the Enclave, including heated front seats.

The Enclave comes in just three trim levels: Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir. Pricing for the Enclave starts at $46,395, including destination charges.

Buick Enclave Highlights

Big screen: The new Enclave features a massive 30-inch display unit, which contains a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment touchscreen. The system includes Google Assistant.

Hands-free liftgate: Nothing is worse than having arms full of bags and not being able to reach your keys. Well, okay, being chased by a pack of wild hyenas might be worse … but this is still a pretty inconvenient situation. With this in mind, Buick equips every Enclave with a hands-free power rear liftgate.

Great ride: An excellent road tripper, the Enclave’s 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder putting out 328 hp makes getting anywhere easy, but its QuietTuning system puts it over the top. It includes active noise cancellation, a laminated acoustic glass windshield, and lots of sound-deadening throughout the body, rendering the cabin whisper-quiet.

Similarities

The Honda Pilot and Buick Enclave deliver the space and utility that people love in a 3-row SUV. Cargo space is abundant, and outward visibility is great. They also each come with a long roster of driver aids like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.

Conclusion

There are many reasons why the Honda Pilot sits near the top of our ranking of the Best MidSize SUVs. It’s reliable and has an enviable record for strong resale value. This newest variant also has some off-road credentials courtesy of the TrailSport model. Honda did its homework when engineering its largest SUV to be practical and a great value.

The newly updated Buick Enclave is equally accommodating when it comes to providing adult-friendly space onboard, not to mention an ample amount of standard comfort and safety features. It does feel due for an update in some ways, though it remains a savvy pick for someone who wants a more luxurious 3-row SUV without having to pay a bundle of cash.
