The 2025 Genesis G90 and 2025 BMW 7 Series are both highly competent and deeply desirable full-size luxury sedans. Long, low, sleek, and powerful, they exude class and elegance wherever they go. The 7 Series has a pedigree that the G90 lacks, as well as a reputation for being enjoyable to drive. We can vouch for that enjoyment wholeheartedly, as we’ve had a blast whenever we’ve been behind the wheel. The G90 has its own appeal, however, especially among those who prefer their luxury sedans to look a little more conventional.
Let’s go into a deeper comparison by exploring the highlights of each car.
2025 Genesis G90
2024 model shown
Pricing for the 2025 Genesis G90 starts at $90,950, including the destination charge. There are no significant changes for this year. A 375-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD) serve as the standard drivetrain.
Genesis G90 Highlights
Class-leading warranty: This is a big win for the Genesis G90. Genesis offers 5 years/60,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage and a substantial 10 years/100,000 miles of powertrain coverage. A G90 owner also receives 3 years/36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance.
E-Supercharger model: Bolting an electrically operated supercharger to the twin-turbo V6 results in a total of 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. Accelerating from standstill to 60 mph takes just 5.1 seconds. Even better is that its EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined city/highway average is only 1 mpg less than the non-hybrid variant,
Bang & Olufsen: This 23-speaker audio system employs 3D surround-sound tech and listening modes to simulate venues such as Bang & Olufsen Home or even Boston’s Symphony Hall. After all, a high-end luxury sedan demands an equally high-end music experience.
Lucky passengers: Life is grand in the G90’s backseat. Available features include heated, ventilated, reclining, and massaging rear seats. Supple Nappa leather upholstery is standard in every G90.

2025 BMW 7 Series
2024 model shown
This current generation of BMW 7 Series launched for 2023, with dramatic exterior styling, a high-tech cabin, and even a fully electrified variant — the i7 (which we review separately). The 740i has a punchy 375-horsepower turbocharged inline-6 that hustles this sizable sedan from standstill to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. Rear-wheel drive is standard, AWD is optional.
Moving up to the 760i xDrive brings a storming twin-turbo V8 that sends 536 horsepower to all four wheels as the zero-to-60 mph time drops to a scorching 4.1 seconds. Pricing for the 740i begins at $97,575, including the destination charge. The 760i xDrive commands $122,475, while the 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid 750e xDrive starts at $108,175 and has an all-electric range of up to 35 miles.
BMW 7 Series Highlights
Performance: Despite being heavier and five inches longer than the previous-generation 7 Series, this latest version enjoys searing performance and is surprisingly agile given its heft. That 4.1-second zero-to-60 mph time in the 760i xDrive eclipses the acceleration of the Genesis G90 quite easily.
Two-tone exterior: For more visual drama over and above that distinct grille, BMW provides 7 Series buyers with several dramatic 2-tone paint schemes. This design flourish adds about $12,000 to the price, though.
Fuel economy: Here we go from awesome acceleration and wild exterior paint jobs to the mundane world of fuel economy. That’s because the 740i in rear-wheel-drive format registers an impressive 28 mpg combined. With AWD, that dips to 27 mpg combined . Both figures are better than the thirstier G90.
Screen-tastic interior: The dashboard in the 7 Series is dominated by the Curved Dash, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display mounted alongside a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. It runs BMW’s lauded iDrive 8.5 software. Also available is the Theater Screen, a massive 31.3-inch high-resolution display for rear passengers.

Similarities
The Genesis G90 and BMW 7 Series are limo-like in size, yet still agile through twists and turns (especially the BMW). They have no trouble getting up to speed or coddling those lucky enough to be inside with their seemingly endless comfort and tech features.
Conclusion
Can we call this one a tie and take the keys to both? Those with the means to purchase a new G90 or 7 Series are likely to have a checking or crypto account capable of snagging the pair, and who are we to discourage such indulgence?
The Genesis G90 tops our ranking of the Best Luxury Full-Size Cars thanks to its shapely exterior, elegant cabin, smooth ride, and outstanding warranty. A couple of negatives include ho-hum fuel economy and a smallish trunk. It also lacks the prestige of the BMW badge.
There’s no doubt the BMW 7 Series is a technological masterpiece, albeit one that looks like the villain in a Transformers movie. Supremely quick and bursting with tech, the 7 Series falters a bit in terms of resale value and its higher pricing.
