Positive Review
Though the exterior has some dings, and the headliner is now hanging, this has been an excellent van. It is roomy, comfortable, and has the smoothest ride EVER! NOTHING can compare to the comfortable ride. Also, even after nearly 200,000 miles, it runs like a champ with very few minor repairs through the years.
Critical Review
When the car is running...it runs well. Very powerful, cruise long-distance with comfort. Decent milage on open road, relatively poor in town. The third transmission just died, and we're gonna bury the whole thing. Electrical system going out also. Wipers have a mind of their own, Blowers only work on high, door-locks have a mind of thier own. I would not recommend to a family who lives paycheck-to-paycheck due to frequent equipment failures, especially after 80,000. I feel it should have lasted at least 10 years, afterall, it was built to haul a large family to many many soccer, basketaball, football, baseball games, etc.

Excellent smooth comfortable ride. Large 7 sleats
Oldier, but goody for 1997
It's a reliable, well maintained and comfortable, but as a senior its too large to drive and to park. I need a smaller compact car. I don't drive too much, just locally. I recommend it for a family or more for a business.
comfortable, hauling, car camping, nice interior
shakes when challenged, shaped like a jellybean
My parents bought this car just before I was born, and I'll be driving it to my senior year of college next week. This car has been way more dependable than you'd expect. I can't remember the last time a maintenance light came on! We do regular maintenance + recommended repairs, but it has only broken down on me once (that I can remember). Water pump was leaking recently. It does run a bit hot sometimes & it eats batteries. I carry coolant & a jump starter battery on longer trips just in case- have never had to use them though! Mine shakes a bit going up hills these days- I just take it slow. It always makes it! Bit of a hard downshift. On flat long drives, it does great! Huge gas tank makes up for relatively poor mileage (but close your eyes when you fill it at the pump $$$) This car has held everything I own on more than one occasion, and it has survived the several 400 mile road trips I've taken it on in the past year. My friends make fun of me for driving the "grocery getter," but when they get inside they shut right up. Super comfortable seats, and nice features! AC + heat still work, seat warmers, a nice stereo for CD's. Very roomy for DD'ing.
I am the original owner and this has been one of the best vehicles I ever owned. It runs and drives great to this day. Many family road trips were taken in this van. My family preferred driving instead of flying to Florida and other places.
Built before they made them cheap there tanks
It requires allot of up keep
Quality built tuff its a tank
Everything
Not any
This is the most reliable van I've ever had, had to sell my truck due to a back problem 11 years ago. found this one on a lot for 3000.00. bought it found it so comfortable ,heated seats, power with that 3.8. Only thing I had to replace was the transmission, and the radiator. Its now 21 years old and only 164000 miles on it. Really love it
all hands down, handles beautiful
no remarks
This mid-size mini van became part of my life and I really trust this mopar especially in bad weather during winter time, I want another one like this one !!!
comfortable, practical, w/great brakes & AWD
transmission & tailgate rust
I've had Audis and Volvos, but my 1999 top-of-the-line Chrysler T&C Limited AWD beats them all for comfort and for braking. The newer Stow-N-Go seats which debuted in 2005 are convenient but far less comfortable than my clumsy but so very comfy perforated leather ones. And the excellent 4-wheel disc brakes that the my Limited has were not available on lesser trims until a year or two later. Sometimes the goodies you get by going top-shelf are worth the price. ----------------- The T&C's interior is as spacious as an enormous SUV, but the car takes no more parking space than a mid-sized sedan. ----------------- The car is not perfect though. Like all Chrysler minivans, the tailgate rusts at the bottom, and the transmission needed rebuilding... twice. (I understand that the transmissions are much more reliable in the last 10 years). My car also had a peculiar, but documented on the internet, defect in a circuit board behind the dash, which sometimes caused it to think it was being stolen - very nerve-wracking until it was corrected. Also, being All-Wheel-Drive, it's a bit of a gas-guzzler - about 17 mpg combined, but I swear by AWD and have not have a 2-wheel drive car in over 20 years. (Incidentally, if you are seeking a newer AWD minivan, you will need to look at Toyota Sienna.) ----------------- Overall, I rate it as the most comfortable and most practical car I have ever owned.
Trying to find out if others still owned this car and came across many "still love it" reviews. I thought my T&C was unusual since it's 196,000 miles and 17 years old and still going strong. The interior still looks great with only some surface cracking on the 2 front seats. Like others, everyone and their mother has borrowed my van to move, haul, etc. AC has never been serviced and is still ice cold (in the deep south that is priceless!) Front driver auto lock has quit working and the passenger side seat heater won't work, but that's about it. My garage says the 3.8L engine is solid as a rock and will probably keep going until the car disintegrates around it. Wonderful to have a reliable car that rarely has seen the inside of a shop.
