Positive Review
I purchased my Trax in May and love it. I had a 2010 GMC Terrain and it was out of warranty. I searched around for a similar vehicle, but a little smaller. The Trax had what I looking for. I got the LTZ with the leather seating and sun roof. The interior is as comfortable as the Terrain. Love the handling on the road. I have less blind spots than the Terrain. Love, love the backup camera. I can even back into a spot with the help of the monitor. Parking is no longer a problem. The bose speaker system is excellent. With Serius X-M you don't trouble listening to what ever you want. I also love the blue-tooth capability. So far I love it. Miss my Terrain but not that much.
Critical Review
This is my first winter with my brand new 2018 Chevy Trax. This is a great handling car. It works great in snow. The All Wheel Drive System works great. Why are my ratings so low you may ask? Well this cars turbo and engine are not what they should be in cold Wisconsin Winters. Then the temperature dips below 20 degrees, this car has trouble shifting and the turbo quits working and the check engine light comes on and the engine looses power. Yes all this is happening with a Brand New Chevy Trax. I took it in and they said that the parts to fix it are few and far between so be prepared to wait a long time before a fix is available! If the engine worked the way it should this car would have gotten a 5 from me!

When I first got this car, I I thought it was a good car, but apparently not. I had to go back-and-forth from the dealership almost every single week because something was always wrong and it always involved the turbo charger. I had coolant and oil leaking at the same time. My car actually broke down because I was out of oil and coolant. Sometimes oil would smoke out of my car and I would have white puffs of smoke coming out of my exhaust. Do yourself a favor and do not get this car. I promise you will regret it if you buy it I wrote this to warn everybody looking into this car, please trust me.
Got it new at 2017, only 65k miles, AC, intake manifold, turbo, water pump, exhaust system...things just keep fails one after another. When the engine is running, it consumes oil and more fuel than other small SUVs. Just avoid it if you want a car that will last.
None
Engine problems, heating/cooling system, electrical issues, not meant for long distant drives
Unless you enjoy working on a car, then I suggest you run as far as you can from this car... And never look back.. here is why.. (All the problems occured with regular oil changes, constant fluid checks, and all routine necessities needed) I have a 2016: The first RED flag about this car, when you sit in the driver seat looking at your dash, you notice there is NO temperature gauge to notify you if your car is over heating or not. Next, The radiator has been replaced 5 different times, the thermostat has been replaced 4 different times, numerous valve leaks, constant oil leaks, the over flow where anti-freeze is constantly leaks, even when replaced, within about 2-3 months is begins leaking again.. the electrical problems with the heating/cooling is a nightmare, your dash light indicators constantly on, check engine light stays on, the ball joints constantly need replaced, and last but not least, it is not a smooth ride (new tires or not) its not meant for long drives and overall is just the absolute worse car ever made!!!!!!
Good car
Nothing
It’s a very good car I like it Way better than a Honda CRV 2021 vin drives really good car. I like it never had a chicken engine light when you do service on time it’s an amazing car. I would recommend recommend for everyone
Have a 2020 and it does great where it’s flat but this thing hates steep hills, so anywhere out west, forget it. Pretty sure the transmission is about to blow and the resale value has plummeted. I guess you get what you pay for even if it’s new.
Ideal for a compact SUV, could be useful if it ran.
Defective engine parts
I bought my Trax 4 yrs ago this August. It had 56,000 miles on it...into 1st day of 2023 the turbo light came on....from that point on little did I know that , that was the beginning of the end...I got a notice concerning the Turbo from Chevrolet that it could need a replacement or repair. That was in late 2022.Long story short, when dealership finally addressed Turbo problem, car developed a problem with water pump and thermostat. Never had that problem until it went in for the Turbo. Needless to say, the car is not trustworthy to drive, with only 110,000 miles on it, I am stuck with a Lemon....Chevrolet is not doing something right....this was my 3rd Chevy and my last....I now have to dig deep to get another vehicle. Sad.
Great Mileage
None I can think of.
Drives like a dream and is very reliable! Milage averages 30 to 34 based on how you drive. 5 years and under $1000 in repairs.
We bought our Trax used from a reputable car dealership in Scottsdale last Summer 2023. The car had 24, 900 miles on it at purchase. Today, it has 34,169, and knock on wood, we havent had a lick of problems with it. We bring it in on schedule for its oil changes and look overs., but honestly its been great, and super good on gas. Im 6ft tall, and i have plenty of leg room and dont feel stuffed inside at all. Has good pick up, and the back up camera i thought was silly, but honestly the car sits higher, and it is a bit of a blind spot because of the front seats sitting so high. But otherwise, its a great buy, as long as your taking care of the motor, and changing your oil on schedule, it will last you for quite a while. I also wanted to add, we use 89 grade fuel in ours. When we first bought it we used 87 grade, which the motor seemed like it didnt want to get up and go, we changed over to the 89 grade, and havent used 87 since. Runs a whole lot better. Better to bite the bullet and pay the extra few cents for gas and get the 89 grade then to find out later that the 87 grade ruined it.
