so I bought my 2004 tahoe last January with 143,000 mi. The only two things I had to repair was the AC and an oil leak. I bought the vehicle for $3,650 and put around $2,500 into it. other than those two things I repaired it everything runs absolutely amazing like a brand new car. transmission is still silky smooth and motor sounds great and runs great... one other thing I forgot to include was I replaced the windshield washer fluid reservoir... this is absolutely the best vehicle I've ever owned.... with now only barely over 147,000 miles I plan on keeping this vehicle till it dies!... of course I use full synthetic and change the oil every three to four thousand miles... tahoes are known to go over 300,000 mi if you keep up with basic maintenance! highly recommend this vehicle! The old tahoes are better then the new ones... I'd say 95 through 2005 are the best tahoe years
Critical Review
It has been a fantastic vehicle and has done everything that I could expect it to do for my family. I fell in love with it the moment I took it for a test drive and have continued to love it all these years! I knew that it was going to last us for a long time. It has required very few repairs with the exception of regular maintenance. Unfortunately, it has begun to show its age by needing more repairs than I am willing to put into an aging vehicle - namely, a new rear-end. With the right person, with the right know-how, who can give it the TLC it needs it can continue to be a great truck for someone else. It also has an automatic car starter, which is an awesome feature in all kinds of weather! I leave the climate control set, start the truck from my home or coming out of a building and it is comfortable when I get in!!

Great vehicle I acquired the vehicle and now it still rides just as smooth as cloud 9. I love my Tahoe, extremely powerful motor, the ride is as smooth as a Cadillac.
I have an 02 with over 200,000 miles and it's amazing. Just look on the road. These are over 20 years old and you still see tons of them on the road.
Instrument panel is shot. No gauge's work! Left front needs wheel bearing replaced. Brake light stays on. Has been reset by Les Schwab,.. Still is on. Needs tires Needs brakes. Coming down Lewiston grade they chattered.
Chevy TAHOE Z71 4x4(completely loaded)Purchased 19-20yrs ago brand new. All miles put on by me, the original owner. After proper maintenance and we’ll kept exterior and interior; this SUV is worth every dollar. It has travel all over the United States and then some. This TAHOE is the true meaning of workhorse. It is so versatile for any occasion. Such a strong 5.3L engine and yet it runs so quietly. I ABSOLUTELY love, love, love my TAHOE. It has been so dependable and reliable. It has carried me and my family so many places safely. While in the middle of moving to another state, my TAHOE safely and securely slept 4 adults and 2 toddlers. And pulls trailers, has hauled an 11ft patio umbrella, a stove, 28 bags of mulch, a push mower, a dining room set, several bags of landscaping rocks, and more. So much room in this AMAZING SUV.
Easy driving, stable and reliable
Climate control could be better
I bought my Tahoe used in 2007. I have driven it 250,000 miles in all kinds of weather and have not had a major problem yet. Best vehicle I have ever owned
Has been lifted and new rim and tires and miles ar
Few items to replace such as rocker arms and a little fade in paint Also needing two new tires. Runs great and Ac line needs replacing
The new Tahoe Z71 and GMC Denali’s at $80k - $120k naaaa. I’ll take the 2001 Tahoe Z71 that was paid off 21 years ago. 200k miles with new transmission and about 7 batteries. That’s it runs great!!! Wish I would have got the suburban for the kids and dog but all good.
They just don't build them like this anymore. My Tahoe has over 300k miles and is still kicking. This weekend we are repairing the AC and that is the first time we have had to do it. We live in Texas, so the AC runs almost year round. We also have a 2013 Suburban and our mechanic said the 2013 will die long before the 2001. Fantastic vehicle.
