Positive Review
My suburban has 380k+ that's about the life of three Japanese cars, Just let that sink in... In all 380k+ its only left me once when my tire blew on some junk on the highway, and my spare was flat (check that once a month) But anyways that's not really the trucks fault. Its a 2002 suburban z71 in green, I love it. Very conferrable ride and very predictable handling. IT also has the most ridiculously strong A/c I have ever seen, It can get painfully cold if you want. Good sound system (not great, just good) Great engine, Very smooth trans, and a simple to use 4wd system. Its only huge issue is the mpgs, its well; the antiprius. Being a man of many talent's one of my best is smashing my foot on the accelerator peddle like its a spider In the shower, I get about 9 mpg- AGAHHH!! It is by far the best truck to go on a road trip in, can cruse at 85 no prob and it is very easy to eat while driving in it, plenty of places for food, drinks and general stuff one would bring on a trip. Plus it looks great going down the road. Also the center console is so big that you can put an entire Chinese food bag in it- no more spilling halfway home... Personally after owning this truck for a long time, and spending allot of time in the drivers seat I have found that maintance is key, The trans and dif fluid NEED to be changed every 50k and also change the coolant every couple of years- when it gets old it will gum up the heater core. Other than that just change the fuel filter every 100k and your good.

Most everything about it.
dash gauges and radio quit working at 350,000
I bought this new and have put over 512000 miles on it, it still keeps on trucking on the same engine and transmission, air and heat still work - I am totally/completely amazed and have loved this truck since day 1. It still looks amazing and retains the same glossy paint with no rust. I keep telling my wife, "Let's see if we can make it another 100,000! ", since it hit the 200,000 mark, as she worries it will just quit on my way to/from work. Then I started saying I will retire when we hit 500,000. Now it looks like I will have to wait to retire until it hits 600,000 ...
Yeah it’s a little beat up. My doing. Had my 05 for 17 years bought in 2007. Replaced alternator x1 replaced battery x3 replaced water pump x1 brakes and rotors replaced x4ish. Differential, transmission flush x1 General oil changes every 5000 miles. Don’t rely on the oil life guage All can be done by the back yard mechanic. Ole Bess; as my kids call it. “She has almost driven to the moon.” 238k miles. They joked. I asked “What do you want to do when we get there?” Answer short and sweet. “Drive back” Great car would buy again.
I’m the second owner it has 64,000 on it wants to sell. It’s in very good condition very clean in and out. Great mechanic condition
The 2001 Chevy suburban ls is the Best s u v they have ever made. My dad bought a 2001 Chevy.Suburban I'm 2004. Had 43;000 miles on it. June 2022 The engine finally went out on her. She had 367,000 miles. Yeah over the lifetime we had to replace the brakes the exhaust, minor repairs. Has the original transmission and Engine. The body is Really starting to rust away period . It was sad to watch the tow truck tow it away. That was the best suv. Ever. They have redesigned them a num of times since 2001. Brand new 2024 chevy suburban cost about 75$... Love the 2000'als suburbans. Son't really like the design of them now.
Reliable, comfortable , Workhorse
Fuel economy if it matters does not to me
Traded for this Suburban years ago with a bad transmission, had the transmission rebuilt and have driven through many many years, no major problems even though I have often neglected maintenance. I have been so impressed I have picked 2 other suburbans over the years. My wife thinks I have a addiction but she admits it has been her favorite riding vehicle. I will never drive anything else, currently looking for a newer one.
Comfortable, reliable, powerful, ample space.
14-15 avg fuel economy (Not even that bad)
Very comfortable ride with some good pick up. Tanky and certainly feels like a bigger vehicle. Fuel economy is not that great but if you're reading reviews for a 20 year old truck then what did you expect? Maintanance is fairly simple, a few hard to reach spots for spark plugs and sensors but not impossible by any means. the biggest issue really is just the paint but if you take care of yours then you will be fine. Did not think I would like this car as much as I do. Have the LT trim and got spoiled with heated seats, sunroof, bose system. Regardless it is a comfortable ride. Being that it is an old suburban you have a LOT of cargo space. Can be a camper or can easily be put to work like mine.
Room, comfort, reliability
Fuel economy, plastic dash, weak transmission
The time came, when I needed another vehicle. I had a few things I knew I wanted/needed. 1st- I needed a 3rd row. 2nd- I wanted good interior space and comfort. 3rd- I needed to be able to tow when needed. 4th- I wanted to spend least as possible. Hopefully without sacrificing reliability. 5th- I wanted something that was cheap to maintain and repair. My search ended in looking at the Tahoe, Suburban, and Ford Expedition. I’m not a Ford man, so that was marked off. The Tahoe had everything, but the interior space I was looking for. The Suburban on the other hand, checked every box. It has the 3rd row, it has the interior space, and it has the comfort. All while packing a V8 and a 8,000 pound towing package. Parts are cheap and widely available. Chevy produced millions of these vehicles. Between the Tahoe, Suburban, the Yukon’s, the Escalade’s, and their Silverado and Serra. The down side: The 4L60e transmission are kinda weak and are known to need replaced or rebuilt between 150k-250k. The fuel economy is fair for a nearly 3ton vehicle. I average between 15-17mpg. I have experienced most of the common problems with these vehicles. But all was a fairly easy and straightforward fix. At 186k miles, her engine is still very strong. She comfortable, roomy, and can easily pull most campers and boats. In my opinion, the suburban makes an excellent family vehicle!
